Chapter 31: Preparation for the road.
The morning rays of the sun went through the window panes, reaching throughout the room of the five slumbering party members and illuminating it with their bright light. Elyenora was the first to wake up, sitting up to glance over the small carnage that her comrades had left behind after last night’s drinking party. She simply shook her head slightly and began getting out of the bed with a hum of melody surrounding her. The friends she’d made so suddenly on her quest had indeed become precious to her, even with the short amount of time she’d known them for, she’d learned much about their personalities and lives after the many talks they’d had during the travel to Nepel and within the town itself. It did however pain her that those who’d been lost in battle never got the chance to give their story to her, perhaps she’d come to know them as friends as well. But that’s all in the past no

Chapter 32: The journey past Nepel
The princess may know how to ride a horse from her days back in the capital when she was still in training, however a carriage is outside her realm of expertise. ‘It can’t be too different from a horse, right?’ She thought, using the reins to try and command the horses forward. The reins hit the horses’ backs and they began to march forth leisurely, walking away from the stable grounds and towards the streets. “It’s not that hard, I guess... I did see others do it too, before when I rode on a carriage with them.” Elyenora mumbled to herself, feeling a bit proud to have taken up the role of carriage coachman so quickly. She had the horses move through the streets mostly on instinct, there were a few close calls where she nearly had them go off course or almost made them rush forward, but she thankfully didn’t even notice the blunders nor committed fully to them. Having mos

Chapter 33: A day of the past
… Four years ago, at the Western outer edges of Benulis that border with the Sultanate of Pia, a desert country whose population is far different from that of Benulis’ and has always been one to regularly cause skirmishes with all their neighbors. Like any other year, the men of Pia would send their youths to battle their enemy’s forces as a trial of manhood, those who survive would be pronounced warriors and would get to return home with honor while those who fail to survive only bring shame to their families with the death of a weakling. And today was one such day where Benulis’ border was once again under siege.  “Bows at the ready!” The gruff voice of a middle-aged man bellowed across the whole area, “Ready! Aim...!”  His voice continued to sound from atop a stone wall as a horde of silhouettes charged forward and towards the very walls this man see

Chapter 34: A Melody hushed by Downpour
… Back in the present, Elyenora couldn’t help but laugh out loud as she remembered those scenes. “Hahaha! Grandpa Leo sure did a number on the enemy forces back then.”  The scene of him jumping off the walls and quite literally ‘butchering’ the enemy forces, so that he could prove his moniker was still as clear as day in her mind. ‘As if I could ever forget that scene, he nearly gave me a heart attack back then...’ Elyenora thought to herself, remembering of how panicked she’d gotten once he hopped down from the fort walls. ‘I remember thinking both how scary the battlefield looked and how much I wished to be able to so freely jump into the fray like that...’ The reminiscing of those days was ended shortly after the point where the old Leonidas single handedly pushed the hordes of orcs back and forced them to retreat with their tails between their

Chapter 35: Young Elyenora's lesson about Mercy
… Within a land filled with carnage stood one lone figure, whose bluish armor had been dyed in a crimson ruby unlike its usual sapphire coloring. The man’s twin scimitars stood on both his sides as he looked from side to side with a calm demeanor. In every direction for as far as the eye could see, there laid the bodies of once proud orcs who’d come seeking their honor in battle, but the only thing that they’d found was a fate at the butcher’s knives. Limbs littered the ground and warm red liquids dripped in puddles everywhere, most of the corpses had been so disfigured that you’d find it hard to recognize them as orcs at this point. Those who’d survived had long since run away in retreat, wishing to never again witness a man such as the one they’d faced on this day. While the ones that had witness the event stood in silence, not knowing whether they should cheer for vic

Chapter 36: Plans for the Raid
Silence spread throughout the battlefield littered with the orcish bodies, as the squad of soldiers all looked on with shock at the man who’d basically just betrayed each and every one of their expectations. “S-Sir Leonidas... What do you mean by that...?” One of the soldiers finally spoke up as beads of sweat flowed down the side of his forehead. “You heard me, I’m not participating in the raid.” Leonidas repeated his earlier words, bringing about an unfortunate reality to the soldiers. The soldiers couldn’t believe their ears, all the excitement from earlier completely vanished as they felt it was unfair for him to simply leave everything in their hands after only now arriving. “Why not?!” A second soldier bellowed, obviously outraged at the notion, “You’re the Hungry Butcher, are you not?! You just decimated them by yourself! Why would you leave now, right before

Chapter 37: A Family Reunion
“Grandfather, we’ve arrived!” The doors of the meeting room opened widely and took everyone’s attention, from them came in five armor clad figures, seemingly knights. The one who’d spoken was the shortest one amongst their group, a youth wearing a unique set of jade colored armor that had a high quality shield strapped to his right gauntlet, he seemed to be around the same age as Elyenora, and also appeared to have the same golden hair color as her.  One could spot a few strands of it flowing down to just above his shoulders, coming from beneath a full plated helmet. The four other armored figures were all clad in silver and stood to both of the youth’s sides in silence, apparently there to guard him.  That all indicated to him being the leading figure amongst this group of knights. “Hmm?” intrigued by the appearance of the boy, Elyenora pondered ab

Chapter 38: The Raid Starts
As the moon reached its peak in the night sky, with the howl of wolves in the distance, one could hear the noise of marching footsteps.Shades of hundreds of people traversing the forest could be perceived by the wildlife’s vision as they slowly walked in lines through the thick woods, approaching their destination with fervor. The troops of men that walked these forests numbered over four thousand, each thousand having their own leader to give out orders and keep everything neatly in arrangement. “We’re nearing now.” Leonidas commented as he rode a horse alongside the commander of the troops, Elyenora and Samuel followed from behind along with the knight guards that accompanied the young man, also on horseback. “Indeed, we’ll have to get into position and split our forces accordingly for the three way pincer attack.” Reedus replied in a serious, deep tone, his conviction towards the success of t

Chapter 39: The Flames rage on.
Having managed to enter the orcish fort unnoticed, the young Elyenora grinned widely while gazing at the big influx of orcs that were all over the place. “Let’s get to the supply storage and set it all on fire.” One of the knights stated and walked forth, not minding the presence of orcs sleeping or walking about to kill time. Nodding to his words, Elyenora moved up and kept pace with the group, they needed to look somewhere to the south-western corner of the construction to find their targets. Their trek through the fortress’ interior went smoothly, they saw many orcs along the way who were resting from today’s battle and some that were tending to their wounds, a lot had gone to sleep and a few still hadn’t had their fill on drinks or meat yet. Nearly all of these orcs were of the younger generation, it wasn’t something that Elyenora or Samuel could tell, however it was a fact that the mor

Chapter 40: A Grim Scenario
As the fires raged on all around, the orcs drew nearer and swung whatever they held towards the young Elyenora, attempting to kill her on the spot. However, just in the nick of time, two of the knight bodyguards that had come with Samuel arrived and blocked the incoming strikes. “Princess Elyenora! Stay on guard and raise thy blade!” The knight spoke with an ordering tone, bringing the girl back to her senses. “Y-Yes!” She replied and quickly and stood up, unsheathing her blade as she breathed in and out to try and calm herself. The two knights were able to fend off the weaker orcs with ease, it gave enough time for the princess to assess herself and get used to the environment of battle. She breathed in and out, staying in between the two knights for protection until she could speak normally. “Where is Sam?” She asked, worriedly trying to get an answer. &ld
