81. Brendan's Theory
Brendan woke up with a start. It was dark outside. He looked at his watch: ‘Seven-fifteen?!’ How was it possible? The vision had not even lasted two minutes. He got up and headed downstairs.Miriam was obviously asleep because the lights had been switched off.He turned on the living room lights and he found Jack in his room, standing in the center like the ghost he was. His eyes did not hold any expression and neither did his face. ‘It’s done,’ he said.‘What’s done?’ Brendan’s question came from curiosity.‘I’ve cleared your name,’ said Jack washing his hands together, his face still not holding any obvious expression.‘I don’t believe you.’‘Then turn on the news and see for yourself.’Brendan wasn’t keen on watching the news; it would only just increase his tension level. ‘Tell me what happened. I want to hear every detail, from sta

82. An Unexpected Visit
Brendan suddenly raised his eyebrows in delight, ‘I have an idea…I could tell you where her domain is and you could go kill her instead!’‘It’s too late for that. The forest is no more.’‘The protests didn’t work?’‘Of course they didn’t. It’s impossible to change the mayor’s mind.’ The two became silent. ‘I guess there’s nothing left to talk about,’ Jack said.Brendan nodded and the phantom disappeared.Brendan was now pacing up and down the living room. Two things were on his mind now; where the Finch could have moved her domain and the words Marauder had last said to him: “Peace is the best weapon for war.” Did Marauder mean that Brendan should have the Finch sit down with him and talk like two civilized beings? He dismissed this thought without the slightest meditation on it. As he paced up and down the room, he heard a k

83. A Call to Action
Brendan was woken up by a nightmare. The Bradwield Terror had had his head in a vice grip. His puny head had been like a tennis ball in its hands as it slowly crushed it, savoring each moment, a hideous grin on its face. He was now back to reality. He sat up in his bed and wiped sweat from his brow. The sun was high up in the sky. He looked at the alarm clock on top of his cupboard beside his bed; the time was 07:10 A.M.Samantha was fast asleep beside him. Her nudity was politely wrapped inside the sheets as she lay with her front side on the bed and her face facing the opposite wall. She moaned, shifted and her face turned toward Brendan. Her eyelids flashed and they slowly opened, heavy with sleep.‘Good morning,’ she whispered. Her face beamed like the sunlight. He reached down and kissed her on the cheek, ‘Good morning,’ he responded. ‘Last night..,’ he began as he took off his pajama shirt, ‘did we..?’ H

84. Chaotic Destroyer
Samantha had fallen asleep. She was breathing softly, her face turned to the opposite wall.He also took his mother’s wedding ring from the pocket of his school trousers for good luck then, careful not to wake Samantha up, he sneaked out by tiptoe. As soon as he reached downstairs, he headed for the kitchen. ‘I have to leave for a while Miriam,’ he told her while opening the door of the refrigerator. He took out a big red apple and a banana.‘What about breakfast, sir?’ she asked him, her expression and tone both worried.‘I have a guest…serve her…she’s still asleep in my room,’ he instructed her as he wolfed down the banana at the same time, ‘her name is Samantha.’ He was now working on the apple now. ‘Tell her I had to run a quick errand.’ The apple was now half eaten. She nodded obediently. He finished the rest of the apple and he threw the pulp in a dustbin i

85. Anonymous vs The Bradwield Terror
Brendan rushed in a heartbeat towards the B.T. He jumped and landed his right fist on its jaw.It showed no signs of pain. But Brendan did not wait to look surprised. He continued to attack, jumping and swinging punches with all his strength at its face.At every four punches, it took a step back. It was as if this was not painful at all.Brendan paused after a while of his assaults, breathing deeply and choking at intervals.‘Don’t tell me you’re all out of gas?’ The B.T mocked him.He gave a yell of frustration and grabbed the monster by its armpits and smashed it into the ground with all his force then he picked it up and using his super speed, carried it and smashed it into the side of a truck a distance away. The truck shriveled inwards because of the force. He began punching the B.T again as it lay in the side of the truck. It did not even make a sound of pain. It just lay there, calmly receiving the blows with no

86. Marauder vs The Bradwield Terror
‘I thought you would be a better challenge but you were hardly even a challenge at all,’ the B.T mocked him as it stood staring at his lifeless body thirty feet away from where it stood. ‘Come to think of it, I thought I wouldn’t stand a chance with a Versatile…that this Grenobe stuff was just another one of the Finch’s methods of chicanery. But now I look at where I stand and where you’re sitting right now and I now know that Destroyers were meant to be at the top of the food chain. The poor Finch was too stupid to see what horrible fate she was creating for the Versatiles when she gave me and Black Ice the potion. This day shall be written in history as the day the Versatiles fell!’The B.T walked over to Brendan. ‘It’s a pity what big a loss you are. But just before I kill you, I need to know who you are.’ It reached for his mask to take it off…Brendan’s eyes suddenly opened wide. It was as

87. Sam's Fury
‘An errand which takes more than two-and-a-half hours?!’After he had defeated the Bradwield Terror, Brendan had managed to use his heightened speed to return his costume under the bed, put on a wool hat to hide the scar the Bradwield Terror had embossed on the side of his head, and now here he stood in front of Samantha who was infuriated by his long absence. ‘Sam, I’m sorry,’ he apologized, ‘It took longer than I thought.’‘And what’s with this..?’ She tried to remove his wool hat from his head, ‘It’s hot outside!’ Her voice was concern. She was still in her nightgown since she had not brought any clothes to wear.‘This house is a little chilly, brrr…’ he rubbed his hands on his shoulders, trying to convince her of a nonexistent chilly breeze. She sighed heavily, ‘you know you can tell me anything now, right?’‘Of course, I mean…w

88. Birthday
He returned to the living room and threw himself on the couch. ‘Miriam!’She did not take too long to respond. She had obviously been taking a nap. ‘Is it midday already, sir?’ she asked in surprise as she quickly descended the stairs.‘No,’ he picked up the remote control and switched on the TV, ‘Get me something sweet to drink,’ he said.‘Coffee, sir?’‘No, orange juice maybe.’She went straight into the kitchen and soon enough, she came in with a tray with a glass of orange juice in her hands. He made himself comfortable on the couch as he flipped through the channels. Miriam placed the tray on the coffee table in front of him.‘Is that all, sir?’ she asked him in a calm voice.‘Yes, that’s all, Miriam you can go now.’‘I shall return at twelve to make you lunch, then?’ She curtsied and headed up the stairs. He took two g

89. A Price to Pay
Brendan switched off the TV and threw the remote control to the far end of the couch. He slowly ran his fingers through his hair in frustration, trying to think. Why didn’t the Finch reveal to the whole city the true identity of the Anonymous? Did she even know that the plan to kill him through the Bradwield Terror had failed? If he killed the Finch then he could at least breathe again but that was if he could. She was greatly talented in magic, which gave her an advantage over him. The other advantage she had over him was that she knew the identity of the Anonymous. As he meditated over this, he heard a swooshing sound from behind him. He looked over the couch. It was Jack.He quickly got up and walked towards him.Jack was clapping his hands. The expression on his face was admiration and envy. ‘I’ve got to give it to you, Brendan. I never thought that you could do it but….,’ he shrugged, ‘you showed him who’s boss. I&rsquo

90. Unstoppable
Brendan wanted to turn on the TV and watch the news but he knew they were now talking about the death of the Bradwield Terror who had turned out to be the Flicker and Black Ice. He wondered how Samantha and Thomas’ parents would take it. But one thing kept him from turning on the news; the Finch’s ongoing holocaust. He also remembered one more thing which made him nervous; the Feline Race the Finch had talked about. How strong were they? What did they look like? Who else knew them but most importantly; where were they? He tried sleeping on the couch. Maybe if he had his vision it would explain to him the blatant questions racing through his head. Eventually, he did manage to fall asleep but he did not have his vision. He was woken up by Miriam two hours after midday to have his lunch. It was a pumpkin pie, a saucer of waffles and a glass of milk. As he wolfed these down, his eyes stared blankly into the screen of the switched off TV. He did not stop to even savor t
