Chapter 140: A Mortal's Soul
There was a wide hallway at the top of the stairs. There were no doors, no other hallways on either side of it. The only way to go was forward, through a large, partially open door.Azazel led Kyle through the hallway, towards the door. As they walked through the doorway, Kyle looked around in amazement. For the first time since he had found Azazel, he saw colour. Not much, but enough make his eyes be grateful. There was a pedestal at the very centre of the large, circular room. While the pedestal itself was white, just like almost everything else, the book was not. The leatherbound book had a soft, brown coloured binding, and it’s pages were a soft yellow. It looked like quite an old book.On the ground around the pedestal, there were inscriptions etched into the ground, filled with what Kyle assumed was gold. The inscriptions formed a complex pentagram, one Kyle didn’t even attempt to read as it was way beyond his understanding.&ldqu

Chapter 141: An Unwanted Promise
The Fallen Angel’s wings carried them away from the Higher Being’s gaze and reach with surprising speed. Kyle tightly hugged the book they had risked themselves for, still wondering if he had done the right thing by taking it from the pedestal.“There it is,” The Fallen Angel’s almost cheerful voice reached his ears. He looked at where Azazel’s finger was pointing. “Our way out.” The Fallen Angel explained, seeing Kyle’s confused expression. It was a ripple in the air, nothing more. Kyle braced himself as Azazel flew towards it without even a hint of slowing down. He felt dizzy for a moment as they passed through it, then darkness came over him. “Get out, dreamer.” A sharp, authoritative voice resonated with power. It reached Kyle’s ears as he slowly rose from his slumber. He heard a woman try and argue with the owner of that voice, but he was quick to shut her down.&ld

Chapter 142: The Storm Subsides
Kyle pouted and scratched the dark amber tattoo on his arm. The relaxing waters of the hot springs hadn’t helped him relax at all. In fact, he felt quite jumpy right now. What if the damned Fallen Angel decided to appear out of nowhere?Feeling too uneasy, he climbed out of the hot springs, and went into the cabin to get dressed. Even then, he was constantly looking at every noise he heard.Once he was dressed, he sighed and headed back into the cathedral. His hand never once left the tattooed area. No matter what he tried, he hadn’t been able to get it off. No amount of washing or scrubbing had helped. Irena had tried to burn it off, and the elven leader had tried to use several magic nullifying spells. Yet, the dark amber remained, and all that came from those efforts were burn marks on his skin that another elf had to spend time healing.Kyle continued to pout as he headed to Cacophus’ study. The Lich had nearly lost it when he learne

Chaoter 143: Setting Off Once More
“I was so worried!” Igna cried out as he hugged him so strongly, Kyle worried his rubs were going to break.“I’m… ok..” He breathed out as his lungs hurt. Finally, the first ranker let go of him, allowing him to breathe again.“I sent Luke to go check up on you, but the storm didn’t even let him get close to the plateau, he died like five times before we finally gave up!” Her eyes were slightly red as she explained. “The tremors were terrifying too, and the clouds were so low we couldn’t even see the cathedral. The Architect was sure it wasn’t going to survive such tremors!”Kyle chuckled. “Well, it wasn’t going to, but…”Telling her everything that happened took quite a while. Well, not everything. He avoided mentioning any of the crazy, mind blowing and disorienting things that happened in the Celestial Plane, cutting that part of the story to

Chapter 144: Crowded Roads
Kyle yawned. Once again, he ended up not sleeping even a little bit. He scratched his right arm, then stretched. Despite not sleeping at all, he felt somewhat refreshed still.“Alright, let’s not waste time!” Igna said as they mounted their horses. Apparently, Irena had arrived sometime in the dead of night, and she was waiting by the gate.“Where is Aoris?” Kyle asked her as they set off.“She has chosen to stay and aid the elves. The Orchard is badly damaged, and my powers are useless to them.” The Priestess admitted. “I will ride ahead, if you don’t mind.” She suggested. Kyle shook his head, and she rode off into the distance.“What’s with her?” Caille asked, raising an eyebrow. “She used to be a hell of a lot more annoying.”Kyle chuckled. “Well, a lot happened.” Remembering her disastrous fight against an imp, he couldn’t help but feel l

Chapter 145: Early Bird
The chirping of the birds woke him from his deep slumber. He didn’t move for a while and listened to their beautiful chirping for a while. Then, he yawned, and stretched his arms and legs as he rolled on his back, then pushed himself up and opened his eyes.“Good morning,” Caille’s voice sounded from his left.“Good morning,” He responded with a sleepy voice, then paused, blinked a few times, and then realised just what was going on. “Wait, what?” he muttered as he flinched and looked to the source of the voice.Caille was sitting on a large rock. Her oversized hat was placed next to her, and she was busy braiding her very long, green hair. “What’s wrong? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” She said as if everything was perfectly normal.“Wait, wait.” Kyle shook his head. “When did you log in? I thought we were supposed to meet at nine o’clock!” He opened

Chapter 146: The Temple of Light
The eerie silence sent a shiver down Kyle’s spine. He could hear his own heartbeat so loudly that he almost thought everyone could hear it.The long hallway they had stepped into seemed endless. They had been walking for a good five minutes without ever seeing a single other door, or hallway. It was almost as if they were walking around in circles, except the hallway was one long, straight line.“I don’t like this.” He finally hissed, unable to bear this silence anymore. He had thought he would be the one who’d have it easy, especially after having visited the mind blowing realm of the Celestial Plane, but for some reason, the dense, almost tangible darkness surrounding them affected him rather badly. There was a lump in his chest that made breathing awfully difficult. He shot a glance over his shoulders. He couldn’t see the entrance anymore, they had simply walked too far inside. He gulped.“We must be missing so

Chapter 147: A Flame Snuffed Out
A drop of blood ran down Irena’s chin. “Huh?” She muttered, then looked down. Her eyes widened as she noticed the blade sticking out of her chest. “Oh.” She muttered as if it was completely normal.Kyle felt his blood freeze. A pain struck his chest, causing him to stagger, and stumble backwards. His legs gave out as he collapsed on the ground.A dark shape formed behind Irena. Then, it pulled the blade out of her back, letting her body fall to the ground. Seconds before she hit the ground, Irena vanished through a flaming rift. The pain in Kyle’s chest immediately began to subside.“Slug!” Caille’s voice sounded.Kyle pressed his hand against his chest as the pain slowly subsided. He forced himself to look up, to not his mind drift away with the pain.A slug, the size of a horse, appeared out of nowhere, and fell on the being that appeared seemingly out of nowhere, crushing it under its

Chapter 148: Droigheann, Demon of the Nightbloom
“And now we try and get rid of these!” Caille hissed as soon as her cosmos skinned summoned being attacked the demon.Kyle nodded, but before they could even turn to try and get rid of the patch of thorny briars, the sudden appearance of a health bar at the bottom of their vision stopped them both in their tracks.‘Droigheann, Demon of the Nightbloom’ Kyle gulped. “We need to hurry,” he hissed as he looked over his shoulder, to see how the battle begun. The Demon of the Nightbloom took his blade in hand just as the being summoned into the material plane by Caille reached him. He struck her with his blade, sending her flying across the room like she had no weight at all. A black liquid splattered on the ground.Caille clicked her tongue. “She’s not strong enough – she doesn’t even know how to use that body.” She muttered as she turned her attention back at the briars

Chapter 149: A Prize Worth A Soul
Kyle gritted his teeth. No, he wanted to shout, but he stopped himself. Accepting the deal was out of the question. He couldn’t – demonic powers, as tempting as they were, would bring him nothing but trouble. The Demon waited patiently as Kyle struggled to break free from the vines holding him still. His arms were pressed against his body, and he couldn’t move his legs at all. The vines continued to wrap themselves around him even as he struggled.“Why would you even offer me that?” he asked in an attempt to buy some time. He could feel his right hand move just a bit. All he needed was to touch the demon, and this nightmare would be over. “You don’t stand to gain anything.” He glared at the demon, desperately hoping he wouldn’t notice Kyle slowly wiggling his right arm free. The Demon chuckled. “Oh, I do stand to gain plenty.” He said with a prideful voice. “But it is of no concern to you &n
