The Heir's Redemption/zaman
The strange man stood by the window, staring down at the building with disdain. His nose flared and his eyes glared. The private jet which hovered overhead was loud enough to block out the noise from underneath but in his head, he could almost hear the voices of the old men as they schemed and planned to send him off, the memories that would forever haunt him. As the private jet landed, the man sighed deeply, attempting to school his features as he walked into the car that had been awaiting his arrival. "Welcome back, Master Jefferson." The driver said as he got in. "I hope you had a nice trip." "Thank you, it feels good to be back." He replied with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. "We have the Intercontinental suite ready for your arrival, sir. We have also made a reservation - exclusive - for your dinner." The driver said with a smile. Jefferson shook his head, he was not interested in the fancy welcome that they'd done to impress him, he wasn't easy to impress wi

The Heir's Redemption/zaman
Chris marched into the meeting room, more angry than he had been in a very long while. Evans was right beside him but the man's presence did nothing to comfort Chris. Pete was at the table and beside him was Jefferson, the supposed joint heir of the family. Chris could see from the surprised stares on other members' faces that Jefferson was not the stranger he'd thought him to be. Pete rose from his seat and performed the rites for the meeting to begin. There was a hush that fell over the assembly, no one looked eager to say anything. But soon, Hogan broke the silence just like he always did, this time with a question. "Is his return approved by the Jupiter?" He asked and Pete nodded. "How else would he be in our midst? The laws must be followed." He replied. Hogan frowned. Jefferson had been his rival long before Chris ever sat as the CEO of the company. Hogan had also faced scorn when Jefferson was the heir and just when he had stood a chance to finally take that seat

The Heir's Redemption/zaman
Christian sat by the terrace of the company building, his eyes scanning the busy city below. The Robinson Company was one of the highest firms in the city and beyond and people clamored to work there. Frankly, Chris could visualize the appeal from the outside, but as a member of the family, he grimaced at the struggles he went through just to remain relevant to the firm. It was no longer a question of who was worthy, it was now a question of who would fight the hardest and Chris was not known to ever give up in a fight. "You'll need a lot more than meditation to get out of this one, boy." A loud voice came from behind him, Chris did not need to turn to know who the voice belonged to, it was unmistakably Hogan's. "This battle seems a little out of your class, don't you think?" His eyes still cast away, Chris replied flatly, "And what do you know about battles? You've never had one all your life," "I've told you this one time too many, Christian, your enemies are fast growing and th

Loyalty, Chris knew as a song of the skilled. Being loyal was almost as hard as thwarting the family business, both were a herculean task. As Chris sat in his car that afternoon, he wondered how hard it would be for someone to stay loyal to one person, he wondered how easily the family could be bought and how soon he'd find out about it the hard way. Evans was right, Chris thought with a sneer. The table was not a place he could trust. Almost everyone could be bought and the chameleon nature of the members was a cause of concern.Chris huffed as he looked at his rearview mirror again, nearly praying to be wrong and that there was probably a reason why Potter, his trusted family butler, and driver, was speaking with Jefferson in a hushed tone. He'd seen Jefferson exit the building with a manilla envelope that Potter had handed to him secretly in the hallway, the CCTV had caught it and although both of them had been very quick and sly about it, Christian's trained eyes could still. p

"Jefferson?" Chris asked in shock. "Yes, he has a hold on me so strong that I... I feel helpless." Potter said. Chris knew how hard it was for the man to open up about how he felt. Potter was always strong and capable, seeing him so vulnerable and in despair touched some part of him that he'd thought was buried deep inside. "Do not worry, Potter, we can sort this out." He said. Potter shook his head slightly, "I am certain that you will, master, I am just afraid that it will take my kids away from me, he has promised that if I tell... " Chris stopped him before he could continue, he had his fair share of blackmail and he knew that they thrived on threats, fear, and weakness, the fewer people that knew about it, the better for the blackmailer. "How could you possibly believe anything he's said? He has no power in this city, he has just returned," Chris explained, trying to calm him. "You don't understand, master, Jefferson is not an easy man as you think, he was quite the charac

The Heir's Redemption/zaman
The large living room smelled of strong coffee and waffles, the chef walked in with another tray of freshly fried salmon and crispy potato chips, he laid it down and bowed slightly before walking out. "I don't think I'll have breakfast, I might grab something on my way out, I'm already running late," Chris said to his chef. The man nodded and went to clear the table just as Mr Potter walked in. "Ahh, Potter, welcome to my home, but again, I guess you made the choice yourself so... What's new?" Chris Joked and grabbed his coat from the hanger on the wall. "Good morning, Mr Chris, it is a pleasure to be here." He replied with a smile that did not quite reach his eyes. Chris saw this smile and immediately slowed down, "We might be late for work but I don't think you're here just to give me a ride, I do remember asking you to take the day off." Potter nodded, "I will take you to work, sir. That is all I live for and I need work to take my mind off things, but, I have to talk to you." H

The name resounded in his head. It was the only Melissa he knew that had any ties to his family. Chris remained calm and looked at the journalist quizzically. "That name doesn't ring a bell." He replied steadily. The beautiful woman frowned and rummaged through her bag for a passport photograph, she handed it to Chris who took it and still looked blankly at her. "You still don't know her still?" She asked. "I'm afraid not, I'm sorry if I've disappointed you, did you think that I would?" He asked with a casual shrug. Luciana had no doubt thought just that. She didn't come to the Robinson company willingly, in fact, she had been a little afraid to show up with an ID card asking for information, she knew how strongly the family valued privacy and that their lawyers would have something against her if she spoke in a wrong tone. "Let me guess, you came here thinking you'd have your answer." Chris said and smiled, "Sorry to disappoint you, lady, but I have no idea who this is." Lucian

Chris was in his house, in the living room with Pete, a table between them and two glasses of Brandy on that table. Pa Pete had not taken even a sip, but Chris was on his second glass. "Alcohol won't solve this," Pete said as Chris gulped the second place and poured himself a third. "One reason I'd recommend you quench your thirst, the drink did nothing to offend you, huh?" He said with a crooked smile. "The election is tomorrow, Chris." He nodded and took another sip of his drink. "It's my election too, I don't think I'd forget when it is." He replied. "I don't reckon you would. I'm only reminding you how much this means to the family, and how this will likely go." He said. Chris held up a finger, "I'm very sorry, Pa Pete, but once again, you and I have different beliefs about life. I don't believe in fate and the predictable, I believe that a second can alter everything. " He said. "And that, exactly is your problem, boy!" Pete snapped impatiently, "You rise to make a declara

The cigar fumes made Christian a little uncomfortable but he sat still as the man puffed it generously up in the sky. The cold air was warming up with the smoke and Chris couldn't complain. Chris took a puff here and there but on paper, he'd quit many years ago, unfortunately, many hadn't, and good thing he didn't expect everyone else to. "What brings you to my home?" He asked Jefferson who sat on the armchair, his legs crossed at the table. "I had to come to show you that I know where you live, is that enough reason?" Jefferson asked. Chris shrugged, "Where I live is not a secret, it has never been," he replied. "Then why have you been hiding out at the hotel since you returned?" He asked with a smirk. "It was much more comfortable, and easy until you showed up in my hotel room uninvited and I had to think of how incompetent the entire establishment was, letting a stranger in." He replied. Jefferson finally laughed, he smashed the butt of the cigar and put it out completely on

The Heir's Redemption/zaman
Potter bowed slowly and escorted Christian to the car. He opened the limousine and shut the door as he got in. "Good evening sir, you look great as usual." Potter complimented. "I might have to ask who tailored such a fine tux, I wouldn't mind saving for a piece too." He joked. "Ahhh, I can have one made just for you, remind me when you need it," Chris said and Potter smiled, thanking him. Chris looked down at his tux and smiled, it was handmade by Celestine himself. It had been a gift, some form of appreciation for his help with Sylvia, he'd never found an occasion worthy enough to wear it to - until tonight. His phone beeped and Chris sighed, he'd received over a dozen calls in the course of the night and rejected a few too. Everyone wanted to get information from the source itself, they were eager to know what he had in mind. Some believed that he would accept to share the seat with Jefferson since that was the only way out, others believed he'd lose the election and leave t
