Chapter 16. The next day, Vance didn’t show up at the office early; he took his time in his house, pondering hard on the steps against Lecter. An idea struck him alongside a light bulb; he hurried out of his house to the office in the early afternoon, and he called for his secretary, who was behind him in a second. “I need you to do something for me.” “What’s that, sir?” She asked, holding a pen and some files in her other hand. “I want you to help me work on something,” Vance rubbed his chin, then continued talking, “I want you to fabricate some files of embezzlement, make it a lot of money.” “I don’t understand.” She said, swallowing hard. “There’s someone that has been testing my power and patience.
