CHAPTER 41
A black Lamborghini swerved into the driveway of the estate and Rylan Daystar stepped out of the vehicle. In his hands were two grocery bags as he headed towards the porch. The door opened just in time and Williams stepped out getting the bags from him. Rylan took off his suit jacket and followed Williams into the kitchen. He was exhausted and it was written plainly on his face. Williams noticed this when he first came home. Rylan had been working overtime to fulfill his dreams, and Williams often wondered if all of the sleepless nights were worth it. Rylan’s life has been eventful since he returned to Los Angeles. It seemed like he was a magnet for trouble. Every time, there had to be something going on. And right now, they had four people coming after him; the police, The McCulloughs, the cartel, and now the casino owners. It was tough that Rykak hadn’t succumbed to the pressure of living his life on the edge. It seemed like presently, any day could be his last. Williams kept the

Lana looked like a Greek goddess dressed in a white gown with good embroideries decorating it. Her short black hair and hazel eyes shone under the chandeliers that lit the hall. In her hand was a glass of champagne and on her face was a flirty smile as she scanned Rylan. He didn’t look bad either. He was looking gorgeous in that vanilla suit and it made her want to lick it off him. He was stunning as she expected. There was something about his amber eyes that pulled her closer to him constantly. She wasn’t sure what it was, but it was irresistible. “Rylan Daystar,” she said in a flirtatious voice.Rylan smiled and took a sip of his champagne glass. He never knew that Lana would look so stunning. “My, my. You look outstanding, Mrs. Pierce,” Rylan complimented. Lana scoffed. “You don’t look bad either,” she confessed. “I’m flattered.”Lana chuckled. “I presume you haven’t forgotten the reason for your attendance, sir?” Williams' voice sounded from the comms. “Shut up, Williams,”

“Is the antidote ready, Williams?” Rylan asked. “Yes sir. Waiting for your arrival.”“Good.”Rylan gripped the steering wheel tight as he sped through the city. He was in a rush. On the passenger seat was an unconscious Lana. She was strapped to the seat by his seatbelt. Rylan knew that if he was caught with her in his car, he would be jailed immediately. It would be a total misunderstanding, a misunderstanding that could cost Lana her life. Rylan felt guilt creeping in on him as he looked at Lana one more time. He should have listened to her from the start. But it seemed they weren’t after him. It was a shock to realize that she had been poisoned instead, but why? And how? He had been standing beside her the whole time that he could have spotted when Seth would have spiked her drink. But instead, he had walked off. The time between her getting poisoned and Seth leaving them was suspicious. Rylan could remember his last words very well. He had welcomed them to enjoy the show. Rylan

Lana opened her eyes slowly as she came back to reality. Her head was pounding hard and she winced in pain. So many questions were running through her mind. What happened? The last thing she could remember was talking to Rylan. That was before she passed out on the floor. At least that was what she had thought. She could remember being carried away. She could also remember the sound of car engines and the voice of Rylan who seemed ever-present. How had it all happened? Where had it all gone wrong? And then it hit her. She had been poisoned instead of Rylan. This came as a shock to her. She could remember coming to this conclusion just as she hit the ground. Seth had been planning for her instead. Lana’s nap was about three hours long. When she woke up, she felt a lot better. Her head was not pounding anymore, and her joints were not aching either. She was finally free from the poison. She wondered if Rylan was still around. It appeared she was occupying his bedroom which made her heart flutter. Never did she think that she would get this close to Rylan. She wasn’t sure there was anyone who had seen his bedroom. She was lucky. As Lana stepped out of the room in curiosity in search of Rylan, she found his closet room which left had stunned. He had all sorts of jewelry and designer suits. It was safe to say he had a good taste in fashion. The next thing she stumbled into was his kitchen. It was larger than usual and had everything you needed. An air fryer, two fridges. A huge gas stove and big cupboards were stacked with food. This came as no surprise to her. “Can I help you, Mrs. Pierce?” A voice asked behind her. Lana was almost startled out of her skin. She turned and found

A heartless man. That was what Rylan Daystar was to Lana Pierce. He had left her in his huge gymnasium completely flabbergasted by his words. She had thought of him to be kind and considerate for saving her life, but it seemed that was all for nothing. Lana had been hoping she would be able to convince him to let the casino stay, but he was so stubborn. This was why Seth was after him. This was why they wouldn’t stop till he was murdered. Rylan wasn’t going to listen to anybody, even her. Nevertheless, she owed him her life for saving her. Without him giving her the antidote, she wouldn’t have been sitting down at his gymnasium a few days ago as she had the conversation with him. It was now five days since she had been brought home by Rylan, and it seemed her presence was no longer welcome. Lana felt it was time for her to take her leave. There was nothing left for her here. Seth Mannen slammed his fist on the table in anger. In his ear was the receiver of a telephone. Everybody at the table was startled by this. He was angry about something, and it seemed the whole table knew what it was. They had been searching for Lana’s body for about five days now and they still hadn’t found anything. It looked like she had disappeared from the face of the earth. That was impossible. Seth had been there when Rylan had picked her up and rushed her out of the hall. He didn’t know what he was going to do with her, but Seth had his suspicions. There was a huge possibility that Lana was still alive. “I don’t care!” He yelled at the phone. “Make sure you find her!”And with that, he slammed the phone receiver down in fury. Noah, who had a calm look on his face, watched Seth pant as he tried to catch his breath. It seemed it was more than what they thought it was. Perhaps Seth had something he was hiding from all of them. “What did they say?” Noah asked. Seth looked up a

Lana had decided to confront the shareholders. It had been on her mind immediately after she left Rylan’s house. It was a stupid move, but she did it anyway. It was to show that she wasn’t scared of them and that she knew they were behind it. She didn’t know who in particular had done it, but her focus was mainly on Seth. He had orchestrated the plan to kill Rylan. It would be no surprise that he would have changed his mind after she left and poisoned her instead. It would make perfect sense. “The lost sheep returns,” Seth said with his arms folded. Lana gritted her teeth and she glared at him. She was upset that he wasn’t surprised to see her as the rest of the table was. Cody seemed to be shivering in fear. They were all guilty of almost getting her killed. The only person who didn’t let that guilt faze him was Seth, and she detested it. “I know what all of you did!” Lana yelled. Seth chuckled. “We don’t know what you’re talking about.”Lana’s eyes went down to him. Seth was sa

Time waited for no man. And time was also the avatar of life. If you had time on your side, you could be the greatest person to grace the earth. Rylan knew this, and that was why he had been patient about it. He had been plotting slowly to get his revenge on the Valdez cartel, and that time was here. It had taken him weeks to plot it out, but it was now here. After finding out the location of the cartel, Rylan had been able to gather numerous henchmen with the help of Dayton. He had struck a deal with them and also provided them with enough arms. There was only one instruction from Rylan; Make sure you make them feel the heat. He didn’t care about the casualties that would be done. All he wanted was his revenge, and that was now possible thanks to the anonymous mail he had gotten. He hadn’t made contact with the source since then and hadn’t bothered to. With time, everything will be revealed. Rylan stood now behind the huge monitor screen which lit his face as he watched the vehic
