CHAPTER 71
“Thank you for coming, Miss Pierce,” Detective Jain welcomed Lana as they arrived at her desk. It was evening now and nobody seemed to be around. Lana sat down comfortably. She didn’t have a choice but to come here. It was a petition to clear Rylan’s name from their suspect list. She knew about them going after Rylan in her case. A case that was supposed to die off now she was back in good health. “It’s my pleasure, Detective.”Jain nodded and placed her hands on the wooden table. She was doing this behind Stanley’s back. There was no way he was going to approve of this if he found out that she was questioning Lana about the case. And particularly about Rylan Daystar. Lana was starting to believe that she was obsessed with Rylan. She wanted him in prison and would do everything in her power to turn that into a reality. There was something about him she didn’t like. Maybe that was why she was prompted to do this. Recently finding out that Rylan was indeed involved in the case of the

CHAPTER 72
Rylan stared at his phone ringing beside him as he lay on his bed. He knew it was Dayton calling to report on Lana’s movement. Presently, nothing moved him. He was numb and lost. Rylan never knew he would feel this way ever again. The last time this had happened to him was when he got kicked out of his marital home. For the first few days, he was lost and couldn’t leave his bed. Tristan had tried to lift his spirit but nothing worked. All the liquor they drank on those nights at the bar didn’t make him feel better, so why did he think that drowning himself in whiskey was the solution?Rylan was unsure of his answer. Arlene had come home, but he didn’t acknowledge her presence. The worst was when he took her she wasn’t his mother. Rylan could feel the cold hands of guilt grip him. He felt bad for saying those words. Though Arlene wasn’t his real mother, she was everything a mother could be. She had offered to take him in. Rylan wondered where he would have ended up if he hadn’t met Ar

CHAPTER 73
Karen McCullough slammed a brown envelope in front of her father who was seated behind his desk. They were in his study room now and it was around 10 pm. Karen had struggled to keep it away from Frederick for the time being, but it was time she let him know of her intentions. It had been three days since she had confronted Rylan with the evidence of his parenthood. Hearing that he hadn’t been anywhere since then assured her that her plan worked. Rylan was in distress which meant it was time for them to act. “What is this?” Frederick asked, gazing at the brown envelope before him. “Why don’t you see you for yourself?” She asked, folding her arms. Frederick was getting tired of all the suspense. His family had put him under duress and he was exhausted from fighting a losing battle. It was increasingly unlikely that he was going to get back his company from the hands of Rylan. Rylan had won the first two battles. He was doubtful there would be a third. They were slowly running out of

CHAPTER 74
“Where is my mother?” Rylan asked Williams as he came down the stairs. Willaims was standing by the doorframe of the kitchen with his hands behind him. He was surprised to see that Rylan was back to talking. Those few days in which he had been quiet and inactive seemed like a glitch in his life. The Rylan he knew was almost hyperactive even late at night. Williams was happy that Arlene had been able to talk things out with him. Rylan was back to being Rylan Daystar. “She left a few minutes ago to visit a friend,” he replied. Rylan cranked his eyebrow at Williams as he arrived at the bottom of the stairs. “Friends? I didn’t know Mom had any here,” he confessed. Willaims chuckled at the sound of that. “Business friends,” he elaborated. Rylan nodded in understanding now. He was back in his black suit and his hair was combed neatly. His skin was glowing once again which made him look dazzling. Williams smiled as he looked at Rylan. “I see you guys talked things out,” Williams said

CHAPTER 75
A black Lamborghini arrived at the parking lot of the casino and came to a halt. Before the casino stood numerous bulldozers and construction workers all in yellow helmets. It was time to take down everything and clear the land. The casino which was always buzzing every day of the week was empty as the huge machines stood above it. Standing before the casino was a boulder that was going to smash the casino to tiny bits. It was safe to say that this was the end of the casino. Amid the machines stood Leah Marcher. She had her arms folded as she watched the men organize the machines in preparation for the order of the new owner, Rylan Daystar. Leah turned around as she heard the sound of a Lamborghini coming into the parking lot. Everybody turned around with her and stared at the door as he went up. A figure stepped out of it. It was Rylan Daystar. Rylan straightened his suit jacket and closed the door of the vehicle before heading towards Leah. Leah rolled her eyes in irritation as sh

CHAPTER 76
Seth Mannen was in disbelief as he stared at the hole in what used to be his casino. He was trying hard to believe that this wasn’t real. But it was, and it was happening. Rylan had finally gotten what he wanted. He had taken down the casino, and there was nothing he could do about it. He had been too late. Instead of going after Rylan, they had been distracted by Lana who had threatened to honor the police with information on them. That had prompted them to switch their focus on her. They had lost track of Rylan and he had swooped in just in the nick of time and destroyed their casino. The boulder swung towards the casino and smashed another hole in it. The sound of the wall collapsing made Seth tremble in fear. This was happening. Rylan was destroying his hopes and dreams. It was a horrendous act. After so many years of poor investment and financial management, the casino had finally grown on the people of Los Angeles. They had begun crowding the place with a lot of tourists comi

CHAPTER 77
Arlene Daystar stepped out of the Cadillac with her bag in her hands. She was dressed in a black and white dress with a pair of shades that concealed her identity. She was standing in the parking lot of the hospital where Rylan had been born. This place was familiar to her because she had been here a couple of times. Arlene looked around to make sure that nobody was watching her. When the coast was clear, she walked into the building. She was here to see someone important; Dr. Mathew Mayer. He was the man whom Arlene had paid to get for the extinction of files of Rylan’s birth. She had paid a good sum of money only to realize many years later that she had been scammed. The rage on her face was concealed by the shades. She was going to let him see it when she got into his office. Dr. Mayer had put her in this mess. If he had gotten rid of Rylan’s file and they had planned, none of these would have happened. Since she was back in town. She had no other choice than to pay him an impromp

CHAPTER 78
“What do you have to say about this, Detective Reynolds?” Lieutenant Wesley asked as he read her notepad. Jain was standing in his office, and behind her was Stanley who was leaning on the wall. After going through hee notepad, Stanley had been disappointed that she had continued her investigation on Rylan Daystar and was forced to report her to the Lieutenant. Jain couldn’t believe that her partner would do such a thing to her. She knew that this would happen if Stanley had gone out, and here she was now. She had been careless enough to keep her evidence close to the reach of Stanley. And he had taken that opportunity. She could perceive the smell of tobacco coming from behind her. Stanley was smoking a cigarette. “I was trying to get more information from the cases we are under, sir,” Jain explained. “Detective Stanley here told me you’ve been after Rylan Daystar for a while now,” Lieutenant Wesley said leaning on his desk. “Is that true?”Jain’s eyes went to Stanley who was beh

CHAPTER 79
“Just look at it!” Seth Mannen said, pointing at the projected image before him. It displayed a picture of the casino and what the place looked like now. The factory had begun construction, and it looked like a nightmare to Seth. A place where he once owned now looked like it was a dark, gruesome place. He could no longer recognize the place where the casino had been situated. Rylan had done a perfect job in making sure that no inch of the casino remained. There was nothing to prove that one of the places that was enjoyed by the citizens and also tourists existed. It was totally gone. Forever. Before him sat Noah, Cody, and Leon. They were the only ones available. Lana wasn’t here as he had expected. It seemed her fate had been sealed. This was all her fault by the way. If she had agreed with them, they would have been able to stop this from happening. Rylan would be dead and they would still have their company. But she had chosen to act saintly and tell Rylan everything. That had c

CHAPTER 80
Lana Pierce dumped her basket of groceries on the counter and sighed. It was about time she got to the counter. She had been waiting in line for almost fifteen minutes. Impatience has been one of her virtues lately. She couldn’t stand people anymore, especially what her colleagues had done to her. They had tried to kill her because she was against murdering an innocent man. And she was certain they were going to do it again. The lady at the counter, a black woman with plump cheeks whose braids were tucked under the store’s cap on her head, moved her jacket to the side and began taking out all the groceries. She passed them through the machine, and when she was done, she packed them all into two brown grocery bags handing them to Lana. Lana got it from her and nodded in satisfaction. “Thank you.”The woman nodded, chewing her gum recklessly. Lana found it to be a slight nuisance. “That will be forty-nine dollars and thirty-five cents,” the woman said. Lana brought out her credit ca
