After ending the call, Lana made another call to a contact she had at Sinclair Industries, and about half an hour later, she had gotten her hands on Ethan Sinclair’s schedule. Walking back into the office, she handed Adrian a tablet with the schedule. “I have the schedule sir.” ‘Wow that was quick.” He said, impressed that she had gotten it so fast. He looked through and noticed that Ethan was supposed to attend an event the next day. “Could you get an invite to this event?” Adrian asked. “It shouldn’t be difficult, I’m sure they’ll be more than happy to have the CEO of Delaney Enterprises attend.” She replied confidently. “Good, that will be all for today.” Adrian had already decided the first step in his plan and he was going to start with Ethan Sinclair. Ethan arrived at the station and was taken to a holding cell. A frowned formed on Ethan’s face as he protested. “You’re putting me in a cell?” “You should get used to it, you can’t process bail till tomorrow.” The officer replied. Ethan’s eyes widened. “What? You expect me to sleep in this filthy place? I want to make a call immediately!” he demanded furiously. “You can have your call.” The officer said as he led him to the phone. Ethan dialed the buttons furiously as he put in a call to Evelyn. “Evelyn, they are saying I can’t process bail till tomorrow.” “I have sent the lawyer, he’s on his way, but if that’s the law, there’s nothing I can do about it. You’ll have to spend the night there.” Evelyn replied in a casual tone. It almost sounded like Evelyn found the idea that he would sleep in a cell enjoyable. “So you’re just going to leave me here?” “Next time, you should think before you act.” Evelyn replied sharply before hanging up the call. The Sinclair family lawyer, Mr. Richmond arrived at the station around 10:00am next morning hoping that he would be able to get Ethan bailed out.“What do you mean he has been released?” he asked, his brow furrowing deeply. “The charges were dropped.” The officer explained.He picked up his phone and dialed Evelyn’s number.“Have you heard from Mr. Ethan?”“What do you mean? Adrian looked at the car through the mirror. “Are you sure?” “Yeah.” Javier replied. Adrian stepped on the gas, the engine roaring as the car surged forward. His gaze darted between the road and the mirror, the car following them closely. He took two turns, but the car followed relentlessly. Adrian’s lip pressed into a thin line. “It seems you are right. That car is definitely following us.” He glanced at Javier, his expression unreadable. Adrian slowed down and came to a stop at a Junction. “Sit,” she said with an icy tone. Lana obeyed, sitting promptly in the chair opposite her. “I must say” Brianne began, her voice laced with disappointment. “I am unimpressed with your progress. I offered you the chance to get revenge for your father but so far you have given me nothing” Lana’s hands clenched in her laps. “I’ve been trying-” “You’re not trying enough” Brianne cut her off sharply. “I don’t care if you have to seduce him to get information, just do what needs to be done!” “Yes, ma'am,” Lana replied softly. They spent the whole day working on the proposal, and by time it was ready, it was already late at night. “We’re finally done.” Adrian gave a soft smile towards Lana. They both went down to the ground floor and Adrian moved towards his car. “Have a goodnight” Adrian said as he inserted his car key into his car “Goodnight sir.” She replied softly. Adrian noticed she was walking home alone. “Would you like a ride?” he offered. “No. Thank you. I prefer to walk. I’ll get on the bus.” She replied politely, declining his offer. Adrian closed his car door. “Well. If you’re not going to take my offer. Then I’ll walk with you to the busstop.” Lana paused for a moment. Not sure how to respond. “Oh. The hospital light cast a glow over Adrian has he sat on a chair beside Lana’s bed, his head in his hands. The events of the previous night kept replaying in his head. His hands were still faintly stained with Lana’s blood. He hadn’t left the hospital since Lana was rushed in. he had refused to. A nurse passed by, trying to give him a reassuring smile that did little to put him at ease. He never wanted anyone to get hurt in his revenge plan. If he suspected correctly, this must have been Dave’s doing. Hours later, he was brought out of his thoughts by the sound of the rustling bed. He turned to see Lana slowly opening her eyes. Adrian had stepped out to make a call, leaving Brianne and Lana alone in the room. “So,” Brianne started, crossing her arms. “Why did you do it?” Lana frowned, pretending to be ignorant. “Do what?” she asked. “You know what I mean,” Brianne said. “Why did you save Adrian? You could have let someone else take care of him and rid us of the problem.” Lana stiffened. “It wasn’t like that. I couldn’t let him die so easily.” Brianne’s eyes narrowed. “Couldn’t let him die? Adrian and Javier took the man to the police station. His appearance matched the person the police had seen on CCTV footage around the area the shooting took place. Detective Grey, the detective in charge began the questioning. “Who sent you? Why did you try to kill Adrian Delaney?” The man refused to answer any of the questions he was asked. He demanded to make a phone call. Dave paced around his room nervously. “You what?” he hissed. “How could you get caught?” The man lowered his voice. “It wasn’t my fault.
