Chapter 21: Soon, They Will Know
The following morning, everyone in the Lancasters’ mansion tried to ooze off their ill feeling towards Enrique, but they just couldn’t. He had made a terrible mistake that put them in jeopardy. Now, the world will laugh at them. They dragged their sore bodies to the dining room for breakfast. All except Enrique walked down the stairs to have breakfast, which Gary had already prepared two hours before the sun hit their sad faces. Gary had grown to love cooking. After spending years in the kitchen with the Lancasters, preparing breakfast and dinner, he grew to love the smell of sizzling bacon, the crackle of eggs in the pan, and the way flour dusted his hands when he kneaded dough for fresh bread. Cooking was the one thing the Lancasters couldn’t take from him, a quiet corner of peace in a house that had always treated him like dirt. Over the years, he’d learned to find comfort in the rhythm of chopping vegetables, the warmth of the stove, the small pride of a meal well made. Bein

Chapter 22: Empty Promises
Kage’s presence seemed to spark a fire of joy in the room. But it only lasted for less than ten seconds. Everyone knew that despite Kage being one of the top dogs of the city, the Sun Brothers might not approve of his request. Those brothers were so powerful and unreachable. They were as firm as a mountain in the middle of the sea. No amount of wave from surrounding New Yorkers could make them concede. Kage walked in and walked towards Madam Ann and kissed her forehead. Then, after giving a glaring shot at Gary, he walked over to Evelyn and kissed her passionately on her lips. Too intimately that the William had to clear his throat. They were at the table and the dining room was not a place to display affections. “Come on, everyone. Smile, it’s just one contract. It is no big deal.” Kage said, trying to losen the thick cloud in the air. But all he got was breif forced smiles and total silence. Gary kept watching the scene from the kitchen. This was the braggart, Kage who had tr

Chapter 23: Doubt Me Now
“Um… nothing. I just, um, you know, I was there when the Sun Brothers chased Enique out of the office like a child. You… you should have seen the look on the poor guy’s face. He was crying like a little baby!” Gary said, ensuring his smile was wide enough for comfort. At that, Donald flared up. He got up from his seat and rushed to Gary. He grabbed Gary’s shirt by the collar and was about to land a fist on his jaw when Madam Ann stopped him. “Wait a minute. Did you say you were in the office? The Sun Group company?” Madam Ann asked. Gary kept his cool, gently shoving Donald away. “You heard that right, mom. And oh, those dudes, um… yes, Kevon and Devon. They bowed to me, you know. I mean, I was surprised myself. Anyways, they said they would consider my plea and save your asses.” he ended, wiping one dish after the next. Donald wanted to laugh at Gary’s trashy words as he would always do, and so did Williams. But this was not funny. Gary was becoming too confident, more confiden

Chapter 24: "Look, It Is Master Wang!"
Quickly, Serena ran up to him and bowed to him, handing him his exclusive suit to put on. Then, she walked up to the police officers. “Good job. But next time, don’t you dare lock the cuffs on his wrists, not even if he asks you to!” she said to them and turned around to leave. Gary sighed. He breathed heavily, embracing the new, fresh air in his car, a sharp contrast to the stinky, harsh perfume from Kage’s body. “Master Wang. You should not go through all of this stress, my lord. I mean, you can eliminate the entire Lancasters, the Howards, and any other person who displeases you. You have all the power now, Master Wang. That is the least of your worries.” Serena said calmly, adjusting his tie. Her voice was as smooth and creamy as fresh honey from a bee hive. Gary turned to Serena and smiled. “You look pretty today,” he said casually. Serena blushed, her cheeks turning red. “Um… thank you, Master Wang.” “How is my grandmother holding up?” he asked. Serena nodded, wondering w

Chapter 25: A Savior With A Golden Heart
Blackgold Refinery wasn’t just another company; it was a cornerstone of the Wang Imperium, a behemoth in the crude oil game. And Gary needed to make sure it was running clean. The car eased out of the city, leaving behind glass towers for sprawling industrial yards, where pipes coiled like snakes and smokestacks exhaled slow, heavy plumes into the sky. Blackgold loomed ahead—steel and concrete, all muscle, built to last. At the gate, the guards straightened up the second they saw the Rolls. Eyes wide. Hands tightening at their sides. Yeah, they knew exactly who was coming. The guards scrambled, their hands fumbling with the controls, the gates creaking open slowly. It was a massive automated gate. Not even the most skilled thief would be able to penetrate the massive metal. Gary stepped out of the car, his suit catching the sunlight, his face calm but his eyes sharp, scanning the yard like a hawk. Workers in oil-stained overalls stopped what they were doing, their tools clatterin

Chapter 26: Drugs In My Company?
“Where is that sound coming from?” Gary asked Serena, who also had no idea. “M.. master Wang,” the old man began, lowering his head down as if in sorrow. “That is not a new thing, sir. Every day, those little kids are flogged. They are not allowed to rest; unlike me, they are not even paid. They are slaves and little children who…” Without waiting to hear the whole story, Gary stormed off, walking like he was heading into a war zone. Serena trailed along, and his security guards too, armed for any curveball. ‘Slaves?’ ‘Little children?’ In his company? Finally, after sourcing for the sound, Gary got to a bunker. The door to the bunker was shut, and the guards were fast asleep, bottles of beer lying around on the floor. This irritated Gary to the core. Whatever was inside of that bunker, whatever he was going to meet, had already piqued his curiosity and anger, but seeing the lazy men called guards sleeping on-site only made his blood boil hotter, like a pot left too long on the s

Chapter 27: One Day For The Master
The boardroom at Blackgold Refinery was a sight—big glass windows letting the sun pour in, the light bouncing off the polished table, making the whole place glow like a fancy showroom. But the mood inside was anything but bright. It was thick with greed, the kind of air that stinks of dirty money and dirtier plans. In the boardroom sat 12 of the upper echelons, men who literally controlled Blackgold. They were dressed sharply in suits that cost more than most folks’ cars, golden watches flashing on their wrists and cigars smoldering in ashtrays. But their laughter was rough, their words sloppy, like they’d already had too much to drink even though it was barely noon. “Look, we are here for a meeting and not to get drunk to stupor,” Daniel said, laughing out loud as he gulped down another bottle of Hennessy cognac. “Look, we have to celebrate this big win, dawg. We talking 500 fucking million dollars sliding right into our pockets. This is good money, oil money.” Mike added, adjus

Chapter 28: Kage Howard
Kage Howard smoked the last pipe of his Gurkha Royal Courtesan cigar and squashed it into the ashtray. Then, he grabbed his shades and slid them on. He got out of his car and began to walk majestically into the building. All eyes were on him. Unlike Enrique, who was also a hot bloke, Kage was ten times more powerful. His father, Mr. Howard, was not a figure who rolled with top dogs. He was a top dog himself, and his son was only a representation of him. He strolled into the reception area, ready to meet with Kevon and Devon. Now, the Howards and the Sun Brothers were dragging a spot for the top, but the Sun Group was winning; they never lost to the Howards Group. One time, the Howard family made a wrong investment and went bankrupt. In order not to fall off the market, they decided to sell their shares. The Sun Brothers were quick; they offered to buy 51% of the Howard family’s shares, but Mr. Howard immediately declined. He was not going to share his firm with his competitor. He

Chapter 29: Humbled To The Core
“Enrique Lacanster was here yesterday. He came with a proposal to be handed the entire construction project of your new building, but you refused to hand it to him. Not only did you refuse the Lacansters what they are fully capable of, you also terminated their current contract.” Kage said. “Of course, Kage. We could have done more, maybe kicked Enrique Lacanster into prison for greed, but that would be a waste of time and resources. Is this why you are here?” asked Devon. Kage gritted his teeth, his breath more shallow than before. “Of course. That is why I am fucking here. I am here with a proposal. Hand over the entire project to the Lacanster family, hand over the papers right now, and I take it to them. They will handle the roofing, the flooring, the structure, the entire construction from teeth to feet.” Kevon smiled slightly. His smile was diabolic, but it was calm and calculated. With one glance, the brothers could read a person's whole, telling who a person truly is and a

Chapter 30: "Get Out, Kage!"
Devon then got up. “Consequences have their actions, Kage. You called us names, insulted us, and disobeyed our orders for anyone never to bring up the Lacansters name through that door step. Therefore, we’re done here,” Devon said, his voice still calm, but it carried a weight that made the air in the room feel like lead, heavy and suffocating. He stood tall, his diamond watch catching the light, his blue eyes cold, unblinking like a predator who’d already won the hunt. “You can take your 50 million and shove it, Kage. We don’t need your money, and we sure as hell don’t need the Lancasters dragging our name through the mud again.” Kevon leaned back in his chair, his diabolic smile still in place, his fingers tapping the table slow, rhythmic like a countdown to Kage’s doom. “You heard my brother,” he said, his voice smooth, almost playful, but there was a blade hidden in it, sharp enough to cut deep. “The Sun Group belongs to Master Wang now—100% of it. And let me tell you somethi
