POV; Betrayed
They all turned and ran back towards the tunnel. Bright flashes of light were everywhere and Fatima looked back to see federation guard's firing at them with their stun guns. The light from their flashlight bobbed around wildly in the dark as they ran without any sense of direction. Judging from the heavy footsteps behind them, it was clearly an ambush. “They had been set up, but by who? She asked herself as she struggled to keep up with the others. Her legs were throbbing with pains and she knew the exertion would soon make her limp. Papa looked back at her and saw her in the rear. In one fluid motion, he scooped her in his arms and continued running. Her added weight slowed him down and she could now see the silhouette of guards gain on them. She could not see Hassan, it seemed he was ahead of them. She felt papa slowed down as he faltered when they came to a crossroad they had taken earlier. She saw his indecision as he didn't seem to remember which way they had taken. “Papa, left," she said. He followed her directions and ran along the path just before the guards rounded the bend. This would buy them some time, she thought, they would take some time in figuring out which road they or they'll split up in groups to find them. They came to the dimly lit room that Fatima had unlocked earlier in the day. “Papa dropped her and panted heavily. “Papa, we've to find Hassan. She said very worried. They heard running footsteps behind them and Papa came nearer to her. “Sorry for this, he said as he covered her nose with his hands and raised her face upwards. Her hands thrashed about wildly as she tried to pull him away, but he eluded her hands and increased the pressure on her nose. “She felt her body gradually go limp as her reaction slowed down. She struggled to keep her eyes open but she succumbed to the darkness. ******** Danjuma quickly tied up Fatima as he heard the guards approaching. He carried her into an empty large wooden crate. He then opened the door leaving it ajar just as the first set of guards rushed into the room. He felt a sharp jolt of electricity course through his body as he fell down to the ground. He had been shot with a stun gun. He was paralyzed and he couldn't feel his body, he hated the helplessness of his conditions. “He blurrily saw 6 feets moving around the room which meant that there were three guards. He heard one of them call the rest of his team directing them to the room while another cuffed his hands. Thinking back, he wondered where he had gone wrong. He has been very careful and kept the plan between himself, Tion, and Bogar. Perhaps it was the messenger, he hadn't seemed to believe him when he lied earlier. He heard noises from the doorway as the remaining guards all poured into the room. Advisor Thadron stepped out from behind them and smiled at him. He already felt the sensation of the paralysis wane as he started to feel his limbs one more. He wanted to punch him in the face. He should've known that it was him all along. Advisor Thadron looked at the open door then glanced back at him. “So she escaped, a pity. We couldn't allow you go on with this plan. With the shaky situation at the federation, a stunt like this would enrupt my plan. “Of course, you can't see the big picture here, " he said, shaking his head and gesturing with his hands. “Who sold me out, was it the messenger, how did he know, he asked. Advisor Thadron laughed aloud at this, looking at the guards around. They took the cue and joined in the laughter. “Actually it's someone you know quite well, he said as he raised up his hands as a sign that he wanted quietness. Someone stepped out from the shadows and looked at him as if he was disgusting. “Hello Papa, Hassan said with a sneer on his face.POV; Hassan story Fatima woke up groggily, her head spinned and her eyelids felt heavy. “Her mouth was gagged and her hands and legs were tied together. “Where was she, she thought, as he looked around her surroundings.Sue founded herself in some kind of big box. Then she remembered everything.“Papa had made her unconscious and tied her up afterwards. She struggled to free herself but the bonds were secure. She gave up as the bonds seemed to get tighter and bit into her skin, the more she struggled to get loose. There was a crack in the box she was in. She saw Papa on the floor with guards around him. The place the box sat in was dark whereas they were dimly lit so she saw everything with anyone seeing her.Advisor Thadron was talking now, gloating at his capture; she also heard them as the room echoed. To her surprise, Hassan came out from behind the guards. He seemed to be with them. “And the look on his face as he faced Papa was full of hate. She could not comprehend wha
POV; the knife Fatima struggles to free herself from the bonds. Her head was buzzing and grief welled up as hot tears spilled out of her eyes. “Papa was dead. She now only has Hassan in the world who was a monster. Revenge flooded her heart as adrenaline coursed through her but first, she needed herself. As she inched closer to the walls of the crate, she felt something familiar on the floor. A knife. Papa had dropped it so she could free herself, even in his death, she thought, he was still helping her. Freeing herself wasn't going to be easy, she thought. Her hands are tied behind her, not in front. She laid on the ground wriggled her hands about for the knife. Her hands closed around the hilt and she raised it up curving it inwards to the rope on her wrists. She started moving the blade in an up and down motion. The code resisted at first, but gradually they weakened. But it was a long process and her hands grew tighter. She stopped and did intervals. Gradually they came
POV; The ceremony Advisor Thadron entered the room looking steadily at Fatima, she didn't acknowledge his presence.“She was lying on the bed and staring at the ceiling. The guard stood at the door unsure of what to do.Advisor Thadron dismissed him, and he left, closing the door behind him. “As soon as the door was shut, she leaped from the bed aiming a kick at his chest. But she couldn't see him again, and with nothing to support her, she fell to the ground heavily. She heard a chuckle behind her and she looked back to see him sitting on her bed. “I anticipated that, he said.”How had he moved there so fast? She then remembered that he could teleport.“So, you were in the craft that day. My men found your talisman in the room and signs of your father's body being moved, he said, dropping her talisman on the bed. “Bastard, you made Hassan kill him, she spat out, feeling the need to avenge Papa.He faked a mock surprise.”“Me? No I didn't. Hassan was very clear on that, he ver
POV: A pawn Advisor Thadron couldn't believe what Hassan said.“Not a witch? How does that work, explain’ he said. Coming closer to them to confirm the theory. “According to my research, the power can skip some people in a bloodline, making them unable to perform magic like the rest of their family.Hassan said, with a composed expression now. He had arranged his facial features to be unconcerned after being disappointed by her.“In that case we'll have to kill her then, she's of no use to us and would expose us if given the chance, " he said , grabbing the ceremonial dagger from Hassan and heading towards Fatima.Hassan held him back by the hand, he looked up in surprise at the hand and looked up to Hassan.“Sorry Boss, Hassan said, pulling back his hand. It's just that I think she should continue her training at the institute. “Even if she doesn't emerge as one of the top three finalists, we can use her as an assassin for our curse, her stubborn streak will serve her well there,
POV: The heart of a Wizard Hassan reflected on the shocking recovery as he sat in his room at Advisor Thadron’s spatial residence.Fatima wasnoa witch. He mulled over the matter in his mind as its ramification. He wondered if he had made the right choice in advising Advisor Thadron to keep her at the institute. He wanted her to understand him and join the cause.“But she had been so angry and clearly wanted nothing to do with him. She didn't understand that Papa's death was necessary. The tasks ahead were great. By killing Papa, he had absorbed his powers which he was not using anyways. “He would have died since his views were too idealistic for the Rebel movement.Papa had always been a leader and he would have formed a faction within the movement.“He Hassan had predicted all this and had chosen the better option of killing him now for the greater good. “If anything Fatima should be thanking him, " he thought, nodding his head. Unfortunately she was still blinded by sentiment
POV: Be on my team Fatima came back in time from the warehouse to join the philosophy and History class. Everyone looked strangely at her. Even Mistress Kishra stopped mid-speech as she entered before she resumed again.“It was rare for a student not to attend class.”Whispers were circulating that she was Advisor Thadron's candidate, some students had saw him visiting her yesterday even though visitation was banned and had spread the news. There were mixed faces of fear, envy and awe in the eyes of the students.“She didn't look at them as she went to her desk. Her mind was far away. She had to lay low for some time, she reasoned, it won't be good for her if she turned up dead before she could do something in revenge towards Advisor Thadron.“She had to be careful.” with the disappointing news that she was just a regular kid like every one else, she knew she was now alone. She no longer had the protection of Advisor Thadron or her brother.“If she failed, she will be expelled fr
POV: Idealist.Fatima headed to the canteen with her new found friend. Saving her from the bullying of her fellow Martians has elevated her in Sima’s eyes. This was a new experience for Fatima, she had always been the one people rescued. Worse, Sima now practically worshiped her which worried her greatly. She had wanted to create a team where they all looked out for each other but as it was, Sima couldn't even look out for herself.“Her decision to form a team too was now looking impossible as everyone wanted to be seen with them. She had been rejected and laughed at by almost everyone she had had the courage to ask, for the past three days. For what she had observed, Sima was actually very intelligent but appeared to have no feeling of self confidence whatsoever. She felt like a babysitter as Sami tagged along behind her. The canteen was mixed unlike the dormitories and training room. Both genders are here so clashes were a normal occurrence. They both joined the queue in the fo
POV: No violence As they headed to the dormitory, Sima explained her views to Fatima but she couldn't understand.“It seemed that Sima belonged to a philosophy school of non-violence, so even though she could fight, she chose not to honor her pact. “So why are you here in the first place? Fatima asked angrily, wondering why someone in their right mind who could fight would allow themselves to be beaten up all because of some stupid theory.Sima sighed and patted Fatima, she didn't know how to convince her friend anymore. She had had this same reaction from her sister before she died. “Well, back when I didn't walk this path, I was one of the top cadets in the junior category of the country's army.“If you're wondering, yes, we recruit from an early age, 14. When the kadran invaded mars, it seems my stats from the army drawn from the national database qualified me to be here. That was when I had newly joined the NVM (Non-violence Movement), I tried to talk my way out of it, but i
