6: The Arrival of Alexander The Great.

SIX MONTHS LATER

Daniel, Vivian husband's company, Halogenics, suddenly began to experience a major set back. It was like all of a sudden, nothing seemed to work.

Day by day, Vivian grew more worried, even more than the others. "Baby, what's wrong?" Vivian asked, noticing Daniel's sudden change of mood as he stared at a message in the laptop he was operating.

"It's a message from Ultimate bank. They're asking us for a repayment for the long-time 496, 300, 000 loan we're yet to pay, else they'll stop granting loans in the future."

"What?" Vivian's brows raised. "Just that? We've not borrowed up to 500 million dollars yet! This is clearly cheating, I'm telling you," she huffed in displeasure.

"Really? You call 496, 300, 000 "just"? Forget it, all you know is to spend money on bags, shoes, clothes and vacation. You're so vain but lazy," Daniel sighed, brushing his hair with his hand.

Vivian ignored him, completely guilty. However, the matter at hand could not be ignored. The hardware technology company kept running into debt without receiving any gain in return. Very soon, they might have to shut down if they still didn't get any major investors.

However, three days ago they had already signed the contract with FarthestStone Enterprises that they were going to be their investor for their upcoming projects.

Just then, a knock sounded at the door and Vivian strode to answer it. A courier stood there holding a parcel. After collecting the parcel and dismissing him with a curt nod, she ripped it open to see the shocking content.

"Invitation for the arrival party of the CEO of FarthestStone Enterprises.”

Seeing the name made Vivian's eyes glitter with excitement. “What? We've been invited for the party?”

Daniel saw the letter and his face also lit up in anticipation. Although FarthestStone Enterprises was already their investor, meeting the CEO in person could help strengthen their partnership.

FarthestStone Enterprises was trending. According to the news, the company was established just a few months back and started off as a big shot.

It began to spread far and wide, establishing branches all over the country and in no time, made over a billion dollars. Rumors circulated that little was known about the CEO. People only knew him as 'The Great Master'.

Vivian really wanted to know who he was and how he made it such short time!

Recently, she heard that he was coming to the city for the first time and hosting an arrival party at Hotel Cestello. She couldn't believe they had been invited!

Pushing the thought aside, Vivian could barely contain her glee. At the event, they could try to make a good impression on the CEO and strengthen their relationship with FarthestStone Enterprises.

Vivian smoothed the silk of her gown as Daniel helped her from the sedan. They approached the glistening gold gates of Hotel Cestello. The towering marble entrance sparkled in the setting sun.

Five security guards blocked their way. "Invitation, please," one said. Daniel patted his pockets anxiously while the guard eyed them with suspicion. Vivian felt a flush of embarrassment as others passed easily.

Finally, Daniel produced the invitation and they stepped into the grand lobby.

The gleaming marble floors and crystal chandeliers revealed the hotel's luxuriousness. correctly dressed staff moved attentively among the guests.

Guests mingled, sipping champagne. Stylish couples and wealthy businessmen spoke in low tones over laptops. The atmosphere buzzed with big importance.

Vivian remembered Alex and scoffed. If she was with him, could she afford to wear designer dresses or eat three square meals?

She glanced sidelong at Daniel and smirked. He guaranteed the luxuries she craved, though lately his business decisions seemed unreasonable, his company's decline leaving her unable to afford the finer things.

Suddenly, a woman in black corporate attire approached them. She was the secretary of FarthestStone. "Excuse me, are you Mr and Mrs. Robert? I suggest you leave this event now!" the secretary spat coldly. "With all due respect!”

Daniel stared in confusion. “What, why?”

"Are you asking why? That invitation was fake! Third-rate companies are not allowed and the so-called Halogenics has just been thrown to third-rate! Is that reason not enough? So leave respectfully or I'll call the security to drag you out like thieves!" she shouted, glaring at them with disgust.

"What do you mean? You have no right to shove us aside! We were invited... personally by the host,” Vivian declared, reluctant to leave. So what if they were third-rate? Hmph!

“Isn't that the only son of Amos Robert and his wife? What are they doing here?” A lady behind them questioned in hushed tone.

“It's a wonder,” another man shrugged. “Were they even invited? I thought the event was supposed to honor the great billionaire; how come third-rate are around?”

Daniel whipped around, recognizing them. They were from the Yates family who owned a large first-rate charity organization. He couldn't believe it; was this all they were now - objects of ridicule?

His face tightened and he balled his fists as he turned back to the secretary, his anger about to explode. “We were invited!”

“Yes!” Vivian did not want to leave without seeing the CEO. “If you still doubt us, then why don't you call the host out? Let him come out and confirm for himself if we are guests!” she yelled.

The secretary's face reddened further with anger. She clenched her fists, glaring at her. "How dare a commoner like you demand to see the master! You will leave at once or face the consequences!" she said through gritted teeth, reaching for her arm roughly.

Suddenly, the room fell silent and a hush fell over the crowd. The doors at the far end of the lobby opened and a tall figure emerged, flanked by four imposing bodyguards.

Staff members scrambled to get out of his way, fear was so obvious on their faces as he an entrance.

"The Great Master is here!!!"

The four bodyguards accompanying him exuded menace, scanning the room with cold, threatening eyes. Their message was clear with just the looks on their faces, any wrong move would be met with swift and brutal punishment.

Guests stepped back involuntarily as he strode past, his cold gaze sweeping over them. There was an air of fear in the room, one wrong word could mean ruin.

Even the waiters paused serving, all eyes turned watchfully towards the imposing figure of the billionaire.

At first, Vivian only caught a glimpse of a tall, dark-haired man out of the corner of her eye. As he came into full view, familiarity took over her.

Her heart skipped a beat. "Al.. ALEX???"

Suddenly, he walked towards her, a smirk playing at the corner of his lips. "Long time no see, Vivian McCall Robert."
