CHAPTER 4 GROOM IS ARRESTED

On hearing Dave's bold claim that he was not there for her, Julia felt like someone had poured gasoline all over her and set her on fire.

During the five years of their relationship, he used to dote on her completely, rushing to fulfill her every need before the words left her mouth, and praising her endlessly.

And now, all of a sudden he was calling her self- obsessed? What did he mean, he wasn't here for her?

"What is the meaning of this? You dare to show up at MY WEDDING, and then claim that it's not about me? Then, who is it about? Are you here to celebrate your fucking birthday–"

"I am here on important business."

The guests, who were concerned till now, were slowly getting more and more intrigued by the drama.

At first, they were scared and concerned about what was going to happen, but now they felt like this was turning out to be quite an unexpectedly entertaining ex- boyfriend drama.

"In the movies, the hero always makes an entry at the last moment, and takes the heroine with him–"

"Are you blind? Can't you see that this is just a normal cop, not the hero of a movie?"

If she was an ordinary girl, maybe Julia's heart would have melted a little bit, on seeing that her ex-boyfriend was still not ready to let her go until the last moment.

But on seeing Dave's stubbornness, Julia felt nothing but annoyance. In her eyes, he was unworthy, so why couldn't he just leave her alone?

This was supposed to be the most perfect and special day of her life, and everything was going smoothly until now.

But considering that both of their families were present there, along with the city's elite businessmen and top influencers, she couldn't continue her display of anger.

Otherwise, her whole wedding would be going viral all over the internet, but for all the wrong reasons and with her as the bride who exploded like a volcano!

Thinking of the image that she had to maintain in front of her husband, in laws and the rest of the world, she forced herself to calm down and tried to explain calmly.

"Dave, I know that you must be feeling hurt that the love of your life is marrying someone else. But try to understand, I am not the one to be blamed. Because you have no ambitions in life, you will forever be stuck in this position of a mid- level cop… and I can't tolerate the idea of marrying someone who has no plans of being successful in the future."

She continued, describing herself as the lady of virtue who had never done anything wrong in life.

"Things were different when we were in college, but now, we are adults who live in the real world. It's good for a man to understand and remember what he can afford, and with you earning a few thousand dollars as a low- level cop, what do you expect?

And anyway, I only got into a relationship with Noah after I broke up with you, so I never cheated on you, or anything. I know you care about me, but–"

Dave had heard her self obsessed blabbering for long enough, and he lifted her hand to stop her from saying anything else.

"You know nothing. Stop pretending like I am a crazy lover who is chasing after you, I already said that I'm not here for any personal matters.

In fact, even in my personal life, I don't give a shit about you. Whether you marry a stray thug from the streets, or manage to get on your knees to become the wife of a Prince, it's all the same to me.

I am here as a police officer, and I want to speak to him!"

Saying this, Dave pointed his finger directly at the man standing beside Julia, and all hell broke loose.

The entire ballroom broke out into chaos on hearing this, the cop ex- boyfriend was actually here to arrest the groom! This was turning out to be better than any drama!

"Are you drunk! Or have you fucking lost it? What could you possibly have to do with my husband? And why would I have to kneel to get someone to marry me, when I already have a husband who loves me to death?

You know what, I don't need to explain anything to you. I have been polite so far, but I don't think people like you understand the language of civilized people. So just get out of here and go to hell, or the results won't be good!"

Dave almost felt like laughing at her silly threats, but he managed to control himself and said,

"Oh God, did no one ever tell you that you are not the center of the world? And if you are really so arrogant about your looks then I have some advice for you. Try to control your temper, because when your nostrils flare like this in anger, you look like an ugly frog."

For a moment, Julia forgot all about how she should behave as a bride, and got ready to attack him!

Who the hell was he calling ugly?

But then, she saw him take a step towards her husband and she positioned herself between them, shielding his body with her own.

"You better stay back! Don't think you are fooling anyone with your act of being an honest policeman, we can all see the truth."

She warned him with a bitter tone,

"Did you really think that you can get your revenge by arresting my husband and ruining my reputation?

If you dare to do this, then I will call the Commissioner right away and get him to fire you and your cowardly friends on the spot! This is my last warning, just take your filthy face and get lost, then maybe I will take pity on you!"

Dave didn't bother to give her a reply and just pushed her out of his way as he approached the groom, who was looking at him with a strange expression on his face.

Neither did he do anything to calm down his bride, nor did he show any hint of anger at the fact that his new wife's ex boyfriend was creating a scene there.

On the other hand, Julia was fuming with anger, and her mother also rushed to her daughter's side, while glaring at Dave.

Unbothered by that, Dave calmly asked,

"If I am not mistaken, you are Noah Stone?"

"Yes, officer. But may I ask, what is this about?"

"You need to come with us to the police station for questioning."

Julia wanted to strangle him with her bare hands, but Noah seemed to be a little nervous as he said;

"Sure, but can we wait for my wedding ceremony to be over? We just want to say our vows and get the pastor's blessings, but you and your team are welcome to stay for the reception.

Please have some dinner to celebrate our joyous occasion, and I will be happy to discuss whatever you want after that."

He proudly wrapped his hand around Julia's shoulders, and although she wanted to kick Dave out at the first chance, she still tried to save her image in front of everyone.

"Of course, since my husband has invited you, why don't you all stay? We have lobster, caviar, black truffles, beef and seafood… Who knows, if you'll ever get the chance to even see such expensive food in your lifetime, let alone eat it."

Even though she had a pleasant smile on her face, it was clear that Julia had just insulted them.

However, Dave didn't show any emotion as he said coldly,

"Thanks for your offer, but we can't waste our time on unnecessary things when we are on duty. You need to come with us right away."

Saying this, he pulled out a set of handcuffs and quickly placed it on his wrists.

"Enough! If you don't step away from my daughter and son-in-law right now, I will send you behind bars!"
