Chapter 5

Aiden nodded immediately.

"Oh my goodness, I am so sorry sir," he said at the sudden recognition, taking the secretary by surprise.

"My apologies, Mr Cox. If I knew that you were around, I would have come downstairs myself. Please come in sir," he said as he let Aiden in.

Aiden looked at the secretary and smirked before he got in.

“W..wait, sir. He..” She wanted to say something but finally swallowed it.

Brandy was such a tough boss, but here he was apologizing to a man who was in a mere T-shirt.

“I’m…I'm sorry, as well.” Her face was pale.

“Could you leave us now?” He shrugged.

It’s interesting to see people change their face in the blink of an eye.

He turned to Brandy. "Please what happened to your phone Mr Brandy? Why couldn’t I reach you?”

“Oh, boss, please, call me Brandy. For you, it's simply Brandy. And for my phone, It’s h…ere.” He quickly searched for it, bringing it out totally dead.

Aiden sighed slightly. He knew he had an appointment today, shy would he allow his phone to go off. Aiden had wanted to say that loud, but he ended up mumbling to himself.

"Never mind. So what is this about?" Aiden asked, grabbing a seat. "The sudden money, this appointment, I want to know more."

"Sir, are you familiar with the late President Maxwell?" Brandy asked first.

"Of course I am," Aiden answered, quite inquisitive. "He was such a nobleman before the cold hands of death snatched him."

"He was your father's uncle." Aiden was quiet for a while, as he tried to process what Brandy had just spilled.

"But I don't have any family alive, nor did I know that I had a whole president for a relative," Aiden stated.

"There are a lot you don't know boss, and that is the purpose of this meeting," Brandy said as he reached out for the telephone that sat on the desk.

He tapped on some numbers, pressed the phone to his ears and listened.

"You can come in now," he said to the person on the other side of the line.

The door opened and a young man walked in. He had a portfolio with him that made it look like he harbored important information.

"This was his lawyer, Dakota," Brandy decided in a snappy interview as he pointed Dakota to a seat beside Aiden. "He is here to brief you on your inheritance," he added.

Dakota then turned to speak to Aiden as he read through a file that he had taken out.

"In the absence of any other relatives, the deceased president Maxwell has decided that the entire Cox consortium would go to you, Aiden Cox," he began. He then put the file away and faced Aiden squarely.

"Aside from the hundred million dollars that was credited to your account as a tip of the iceberg, you also have an empire ranking in trillions of dollars in your name," he continued.

"Are you talking about Vuitton?" Aiden asked.

"Vuitton is only one of the biggest businesses under the Cox consortium," Dakota corrected immediately.

"There are other businesses owned by the late president Maxwell including the Jex automobiles and the Unicorn Inc., to mention but a few," Dakota continued.

"Once you take over the consortium, you will be officially moved into the forty thousand square feet mansion, where you have a full garage of cars and access to everything that you would be needing," he added.

Aiden's eyes widened in surprise as he listened to what he thought was the biggest dream of his life.

"I'm sorry but this is too much for me to process," he said after a brief silence.

"You don't have to worry about anything because I and Dakota are going to hold you by the hand and walk you through the entire process," Brandy reassured him.

"First things first, you will have to sign ownership of everything to your name," Dakota said as he took out a document and placed it before him, but did not give him a pen.

Aiden looked from Brandy to Dakota. They both bore similar looks on their faces.

"What is it?" Aiden asked, already suspecting that something was amiss.

"You know," Brandy began. "Before President Maxwell died, he asked us to make sure of one thing."

"What is it?" He asked, already sensing that it was not going to be something that great.

"He demanded that before you take over the consortium, you would have to get married," Dakota said.

"Of course, I would eventually get married in the future," he said excitedly, oblivious as to what was happening.

"I'm sorry Aiden, but President Maxwell already has a girl prepared for you," Dakota finally blurted out.
