1. I'm back

Tonight seemed so quiet, there were only a few four-wheeled vehicles crossing the road. Maybe it's because of BMKG's prediction that there will be a snowstorm tonight. People are encouraged to stay at home. However, this was not the case for Gavin Halsley. He was determined to drive to the mental hospital. One of the doctors informed him that his mother was very ill. In fact, she would be referred to a hospital in the city center.

Along the way, worry haunted Gavin. He was afraid that his dream would come true. About his mother passing away right on his birthday.

"Ah. Shit!" Gavin cursed as his car almost hit the road divider. His hands trembled holding the steering wheel. He repeatedly adjusted his breathing to get better.

Gavin's cell phone rang loudly. There was an incoming call from his late father's first wife, Beatrice. He immediately picked up the call and plugged it into his bluetooth headset.

'Gavin. Where are you? The director of Taesan wants to see you. He's going to discuss the cooperation between our companies.'

"I have something important to do. Give me an hour, or you can discuss it with Dean's brother."

'Gavin this is a golden opportunity that won't come twice.'

Gavin switched off the phone. Just this once he was going to be a rebel. To hell with cooperation. Gavin had always been devoted to his family's company, The Next. From the time he was 22 until he was 35. He was willing to be the one who was always busy. In fact, this task should have been beaten out of him by Dean. The Next's managing director. However, he neglected his duties and just enjoyed the fruits of Gavin and Ed's labor.

When Gavin was about to increase the speed of the car, suddenly a car went off the road. It crashed into the car Gavin was driving, causing a horrifying sound.

Gavin's chest felt very tight, his eyes blurred.

"Mom," Gavin called softly, filled with pain. He reached for his cell phone and picked up the call.

"Mom .... Sick," he said before darkness fell on him.

"Happy birthday, Gavin. I love you."

The sound of the alarm disturbed Gavin's deep sleep. He opened his eyes slowly with ragged breathing. His eyes circulated around the room. Gavin breathed a sigh of relief when he realized that this was his room. The corners of his lips pulled up into a smile that was so sweet.

'It was just a dream,' Gavin thought as he changed his position to sitting. He brushed his hair back using his fingers.

Gavin glanced at the alarm clock, it was only six in the morning. There was still time for Gavin to get ready for the office. Gavin's eyes accidentally glanced at the calendar beside the clock. He picked up the calendar roughly. Gavin flipped through each sheet.

"Isn't this already 2024. Why does it say 2021?"

Gavin blinked repeatedly while rubbing his eyes. Gavin felt confused, he picked up the cell phone. Instantly Gavin laughed discordantly. Maybe all of this was just a dream. It's impossible if there is such a thing as repeating time or being reborn. It was obvious that Gavin had gone to see his mother last night. Gavin shouldn't be here.

"Mom," he said in a panic. He hurriedly got out of bed and rushed to get ready to meet his mother. Gavin remembered that his mother was very sick.

Just as Gavin was about to reach for the car keys, there was a knock on the door, and a beautiful voice greeted his senses. The woman who had always cared for Gavin and the woman who had turned Gavin into a living statue.

"Are you awake, son?"

When they reached the dining table, Gavin was surprised that his father still looked fresh and fit. He was sipping his favorite green tea. He also gave Gavin a sweet smile as a good morning greeting.

"Dad-dy" muttered Gavin. His eyes once again confirmed carefully. It was true, what he saw was not just an illusion.

"Are you going to stand there, Sis? I'm already hungry," a whine distracted Gavin's attention. He looked at Kiana who was pouting while brandishing a fork.

"Kiana. You're ...." Gavin's eyes bulged at the sight of Kiana in a wheelchair. As he remembered, three months ago Kiana had been able to walk. It was just that her jovial nature was missing. However, now Gavin saw a different Kiana. She still sat in the wheelchair and also looked cheerful.

"Sit down, my boy. You need to eat." That was Beatrice's voice.

"You attention-hungry bastard!"

Gavin's gaze shifted to Hazel, Caesar's third wife. She was looking sullen and cynical.

"Did something happen? You look like you've just risen from the grave." Ed spoke up, who had been listening.

"Grave ...." Gavin worked on his eyes. He thought of his mother. Without excuse, Gavin hurried to leave them all. Right now his goal was to meet his mother, Euginia.

Gavin pulled his car into the hospital parking lot. He adjusted his breathing, which felt labored and labored. A few minutes later, Gavin got out of the car and entered the four-story building. Along the corridor, he saw people playing with dolls, laughing, and some even crying hysterically and throwing tantrums.

Gavin's steps stopped right at the second floor room number 38. The door was painted in dark gray. Gavin slowly unlocked the door. He smiled with relief when he saw that his mother was still healthy. However, it was undeniable that his little heart felt sick. In the past, his mother was free to go in and out of the house. In fact, she was very active among socialites. Besides being beautiful, friendly, smart and good attitude are the main points. However, everything turned into a nightmare.

"Mom," Gavin called softly. His eyes focused on the woman who was looking out the window. Her gaze was so empty. Every now and then she would smile, but it wasn't a sweet and charming smile. Rather, it was a horrible smile.

Gavin stepped over. He smiled as Euginia stared back at him. Gavin's heart skipped a beat. He was so afraid of losing his mother. Even though Euginia wasn't what she used to be, Gavin loved her dearly.

"Mom," Gavin called as he knelt down to kiss his mother's feet. He sobbed, remembering his sins of not being able to protect his mother. In fact, now his sister-Kiara, had to be completely paralyzed.

A gentle rub on the top of his head calmed Gavin down. "Mother's son. You must endure to the end. Go and protect your sister. Take mom away," Euginia said in a trembling voice.

Gavin looked up, staring at his mother. I don't know if Gavin was feeling it or if it was true. This morning his mother looked like a normal person. She stretched out her right hand to caress her dull, pimply cheeks. In the past, his mother was very beautiful. Gavin still remembers that his mother would scream and get excited herself when there was a speck of pimple on her beautiful face. However, that was no longer the case.

"Mom, get well soon. Gavin will try even harder to get mom out of here. Sorry, for everything."

After that, there was no more conversation between the two of them. Gavin chose to lie down on the sofa. He would sleep here with his mother. Gavin would forget all the intricacies of his busy work life. Right now Gavin just wanted to be by his mother's side.

Gavin remembered everything that happened when he got into the accident. It wasn't just a dream and it was true. Gavin didn't believe in repeating time. However, after what he saw today, Gavin believes he went back in time. He believed God was giving him a chance to live a better life and get out of misfortune.

Unexpectedly for Gavin, as he fell into a deep sleep, Euginia wrapped her blanket around his body. Her lips were pulled up into a faint smile.

"My son. Are you alright?"
