4. Revenge

Gavin walked into a seedy alley. The lighting was dim. Gavin could vaguely see the walls of the house being scribbled on. He smelled so bad that he wanted to vomit. He also had to struggle to walk when he was in a very narrow alley. In fact, Gavin had to tilt his body in order to walk. Motorcycles or bicycles couldn't enter the access road here.

"Where are you? Do you want to play a prank on me?" Gavin scolded when the phone connected to Soraya. He'd been following the Maps directions, but he hadn't gotten there yet.

"I'm right in front of you."

Gavin hung up the phone as soon as his eyes caught sight of Soraya. He rushed over to Soraya. She invited him to talk to her in a rundown and old house. However, inside it was truly extraordinary. It was cozy and clean.

"This is your place?" asked Gavin. His eyes scanned every corner of the room. He stared in amazement at the neatly arranged books and files.

"The safest place. I had to send you here because I was on the lam," Soraya said too honestly. "I already know what's in your head anyway."

Gavin chuckled. "So, what information did you give me?" asked Gavin as he sat on the minimalist sofa. His eyes stared intently at Soraya. Gavin already knew that Soraya was wanted by the Holden family because she managed to destroy Jack Holden to his roots. That's why Gavin decided to keep Soraya on his side. Maybe until she died.

Soraya picked up her laptop and started messing around, she showed Gavin the CCTV footage. It was clear that Euginia had been severely tortured. In fact, she was hit on the head with a broom handle. Not only that, Euginia often gets terrible terror. So that made the woman scream in fear.

Gavin's eyes were sharp. "Do you know who's behind all this?"

"The Eagle Clan," Soraya said. She took a cigarette, lit the match and took a slow drag. "I got this the hard way. They'll delete the CCTV footage after torturing Ms. Euginia."

Gavin called Robert. He told him all about his mother's torture. This of course angered Robert. Gavin also asked Robert's confidants to join his mission. Gavin would organize everything carefully. He knew that the Eagle clan was very dangerous.

Tonight, Gavin and Soraya went the extra mile. They both researched the Eagle clan through a website. The clan was always on the move. They are hitmen and are also often hired as spies.

"I'll contact Jeffry," Gavin concluded as he stared at the laptop screen with information on the Eagle clan.

"Gav," Soraya called as if calling her own friend. Perhaps she was used to working with her employer.

Gavin's cheeky smile grew. He nodded his head. "You're always reliable."

In the morning, Gavin returned to the Alexavier residence. Just entering the main door, there was already Hazel who greeted him with a dismissive and triumphant smile.

"Ah, the corrupt are back. How was your day, it must have been tough, right?" Hazel shook her bangs. She smiled slyly. "Ah. I thought you'd fall into poverty. It turns out your father is still willing to help with the trash."

"Hazel!" said Beatrice in a slightly raised tone. "He's also our son." Beatrice's gaze fell on Gavin. She had a gentle look in her eyes and a beautiful smile. "Come on, retire to your room. I'll ask the maid to bring you breakfast."

Gavin wanted to laugh out loud. No one really cared about him here, including Beatrice. The old woman would make Gavin her puppet. Pressuring Gavin to keep doing the job Dean was supposed to be doing. Her good behavior was just to cover up her rottenness.

Before entering his room, Gavin intended to see his sister. However, it seemed that Kiana had already left for her terpai, the proof was that she was not in the room. Yesterday, Kiana had told Gavin that she could walk. Although it was only one or two steps, it was a good achievement according to Gavin. All thanks to Kiana's strong determination to get well again.

Gavin's eyes traced the decor of Kiana's room, which was filled with purple items. Everything had not changed, even the teddy bear he had given her fifteen years ago was still neatly displayed near Kiana's study table.

"Get well soon, Ki," Gavin said before closing the door to the whitewashed room. He stepped into his room across from Kiana's.

"Gavin."

Just as he was about to open the door to his room, Caesar approached Gavin. The man's sturdy stride still looked manly. There were just a few tired streaks on his face.

"Come with me now."

***

This is where Gavin is. Caesar's office. Gavin had been in this room several times. Instead of being called in for praise or something, he would get a free spout from Caesar.

"Why are you like this?" Caesar's eyes looked so disappointed. He rubbed his face roughly. "You know what? I wanted to make you stronger than them, but you ruined it. Dad .... disappointed in you, Gav."

Gavin clenched his hands into fists. His breathing was ragged with emotion.

Gavin felt that his father had never loved him. The old man only cared about his wealthy assets and the glory of the company. The child was just a tool for the old man.

"I didn't do that heinous thing at all!" Gavin insisted. He gave Caesar a sharp look that made him flinch. "It could have been Dean's brother, or it could have been Ed Franklin. They're both too greedy!"

Plak.

Gavin felt numbness on his right cheek. He chuckled softly. For a split second Gavin laughed hollowly. His eyes turned hateful. In Caesar's eyes, Gavin was always wrong. What he did would look wrong even if Gavin didn't do it at all.

"You're ...." Gavin pointed his index finger at Caesar's face. "Never loved the three of us at all. Dean is the only one you always put first. So what about me and Kiana? Neither of us has ever gotten a compliment or a hug from you."

Gavin tried to suppress his emotions. He lowered his hand and turned his gaze towards the window that was still closed by the curtains. Gavin had always wanted to feel his father's warm embrace. It's just that he never felt it. Caesar was always ambitious to make Gavin and Kiana what he wanted them to be. But he never prioritized them. Only Dean, Ed, and Jasmine. The three of them always came first.

"Have you ever visited mom?"

Caesar was rendered helpless. He was always helpless when it came to Euginia. His young wife whom he had forgotten. Not without reason, Caesar was protecting his wife.

"Dad, mom is looking forward to seeing you even though she knows you're an asshole." Gavin emphasized the last word in his sentence.

Gavin stood up and walked away. Before closing the door to Caesar's room, he said, "I'll take Mom and Kiana away. They need to be in the right place."

As the door closed, Gavin heard the loud sound of things being thrown.

Gavin would take care of everything one by one. In the meantime, Gavin would take his mother and Kiana to Robert's house. Everything would go smoothly if Caesar allowed Gavin to take them.

"So, you've given up. You suck!"

Gavin turned his body around. He stared intently at Hazel. She was playing with her hair. She patted Gavin's shoulder as soon as the two of them touched each other. The pat seemed to say that today, she was the winner.

"Family trash," Hazel whispered.

Gavin wanted to slam his stepmother. To sadistically kill Hazel and hang her head from the gate. However, he had to resist his crazy thoughts desperately. Hazel was not an easy opponent. There was William who was the protector of the mad demon.
