Elvis went down the memory lane as memories of the past flooded through his head. His shock soon melted into anger as he prevented his father from throwing a hug at him.
"What do you want from me? I thought that you said you never wanted to see my face again."I thought you wanted me dead right and that was the reason that you threw me into the street right." Elvis brewed out the anger that he had bottled up all this while."Or you want to force another loveless marriage down my throat again? After all these years that I have been forced to leave on the streets like a taunt?"There was pain in the eyes of his father but he could not see it even for a single moment. While he continued to rant, wanting to spill out all the words that he had in stock in his mind for all these years, he heard a voice that made him pause.""I'm sorry Elvis." Mr. Ford finally apologized. The words seemed to pull him off from the world of his anger as he met with a swift stop, words failing him almost immediately.Mr. Ford walked gradually over to Elvis until he was close enough for Elvis to sense the air that came out from his nostrils."I know that I was wrong trying to force something on you that you never wanted." His eyes were genuine as he spoke."I'm ready to make up for all my mistakes Elvis, just give me a chance, that's all I ask for." He said.Elvis could already sense the pain that was laced all over his voice. It was genuine but even at that, he was still finding it difficult for him to believe. There was pain in his eyes, the father that he knew was the domineering type, always imposing his will on other people.Saying his father switched so swiftly was something that he could not comprehend."Please forgive me and I will never try to impose my will on you.""I want you to return to your position of being the heir and my son." Mr. Ford kept on saying as the words streamed off into Elvis hearings. There was pain in his eyes. Seeing his father being so remorseful, he wanted to reach out to him and hugged him tightly. But as much as he wanted to do this, he could not help it but remember the promise that he had made to himself during those ugly years. He was never going to return back to his father as long as his mother was away from the house and he had to keep his promise or it was only going to make him less of a human. And his apology was not going to bring back his mother. He shook his head slightly, forging ahead to say."I have forgiven you already, father. But I can't return back here. I already made a promise to myself." Elvis revealed. His father drew a really deep breath, nodding his head almost immediately as a slight cough escaped from the mouth of his father.A slight nod escaped afterwards and he finally went ahead to say."I understand. You have every right to refuse to return." He sighed once again."But before you go, I wanted to show you something." He said."Please come with me." He beckoned to Elvis.Elvis was about coming to his father to this strange place but after giving it some thoughts for a while, he realized that was going to be his last gesture toWith a slight nod, he followed his father slowly from behind until they finally got into a room.He could already feel his heart pumping faster at the thoughts of what lay in wait for him. Finally, they got into a room. There was a sick person at the far end of the room with adequate medical instruments.Making their way towards the sick old lady on the bed, the recognition that hit him ripped his heart swiftly into shreds."Mother!" The words escaped from his mouth. Her hair was gray and her eyes baggy. Placing her hands swiftly over his cheek, a strand of tear escaped from her eyes."Elvis, I never thought that I would be able to see you again." She said,Elvis held her hands so tightly that he could feel the warmth. "I'm glad that we are all together now.""You should forgive your father and return to him, now that he has realized his mistake." He finally added. He opened his mouth to speak but words failed him almost immediately."I miss you too Mother."After a while, they left the room as the doctor in charge Walked towards their direction.Elvis walked swiftly towards him with so much urgency in his eyes."Tell me what's wrong with my mother right away." A shrill cry escaped from his mouth. His father pulled him off from the doctor swiftly and whispered into his ears."Let go of him. I am going to tell you all about it." Mr. Ford finally whispered into his ears once again."So what's wrong with mother?" He finally inquired once again when they finally got into a room."Marrow cancer." There was pain in his eyes as he said the words."Saying that she has just a few days to live would mean that I am being generous with Words." He finally added."What!" He exclaimed quickly."You have to be lying to me right? Nothing can happen to my mother. Not when I am still here." He cried out swiftly. But from the looks that were hanging on the face, it expressed everything that needed to be said.Elvis fell back to his chair, his face washed up with so much emotion that he couldn't even tell how she was feeling."Elvis, I don't want you to rely on my wealth alone, I want you to build yours." He added once again but Elvis was finding it difficult to understand the message that Mr. Ford was trying to pass across to him."I'm sorry that we have to leave you this early." He said with his head bowed. The words seemed to resound in his head, pulling a string that paved way for more meanings to the words."What do you mean by we father?" He exclaimed, his expression washed up with so many emotions."I'm also sick. A terminal illness. There is no cure for it either."It seemed as though his words were falling apart right before him as he exclaimed afterward."No. It can't be true. You are joking, right? Please tell me that it is really, I am going to forgive you." He said swiftly. His Father shook his head, walking slowly towards him and hugging him tightly."I wished that it was a joke too. I am sorry." His father hugged him tightly."I am going to be transferring all my properties to you. You have to be strong." He finally said. There was a sudden pause in the hall as he slumped back to his seat. "If there is anything that you want to do for us, that would be to be strong." He finally said."I know it's going to be difficult for you but you have to start administering my consortium." He finally said. But Elvis quickly shook his head without looking up at his father even for a single moment as he said."I don't want any of that, I just want my parents back." He noted."I know it's going to be difficult for you but we never want you to feel sad because of us. This is my last wish and I want you to promise me."His face was shattered, and his heart tore right into shreds as he could not know what to say.His heart continued to beat hard against his chest as though it was going to burst through. This was his father's last wish and he knew that he could not say no for an answer. With the pain still there, his voice flickered as he rose up and said."Okay, father. I will do just what you have said." He finally said with a deep breath of fresh air."I am still undergoing treatment so I won't be able to come with you to the company tomorrow. But I have already prepared someone that will be waiting for you already." Mr. Ford said.Elvis acknowledged his words with a sudden nod and went ahead to say with a forced smile."Have all the rest that you need, Father. I am going to take care of your company from now on and I am going to give it my best." Elvis added. There was a smile on his father's face as he spoke the words to him."You have always been a brilliant kid since you were young. I am sure that you will be able to pull this off." Mr. Ford acknowledged.Elvis knew that it was already time for him to leave already. He was served the best food that could only be gotten from the Villa, but he could hardly finish his meal.He had a fresh bath and by the next morning, it was time to leave. The doctor had already told him that he could not always bother his parents and from what he had gotten from the maids, they were still fast as
Elvis could already feel anger rising badly but he drew a really deep breath in an attempt to control his anger."And what makes you think that I am guilty as accused?" Elvis could not help inquire, staring right into the eyes of guards."Because even without being told. I already know that you are guilty." He spat making Elvis's eyebrows meet with a quick farrowed. Before going forward to speak, he shot a swift glance at Elvis, taking every single note of him from his head to his toe and the frown hanging initially on his face deepened even more.He scoffed."I mean, just take a really good look at yourself. You are too bad to be true." The guard mocked."Your clothes look like they haven't been changed in years nor have they been deepened in water for a long time." He mocked Elvis. His hands were already clutched but Elvis was still doing a great job in controlling his rising anger."Well, too bad to disappoint you but I am not here to get a job neither was I guilty of any charge."
"Have you gone deaf or something? I said "answer me right this minute." Ms. Precious thundered at once again. His facial expression was clouded with so much confusion, trying to figure out what was going on in his head. But the more that he thought about it, the more confused."I sent him away?" He replied like someone with a stutter."And which way did he go?" Ms. Precious fired at him once again. For a while, he could not get himself to say any further words and he didn't register the exact route that he had used in his head."I don't remember ma'am." He responded with a sorry look on his face."You will be sorry for this when I eventually return." She stormed off from the place swiftly, stamping her foot on the floor. After a while, she realizes that it would be easier for Richard to recognize Elvis since they meant recently and she was only shown pictures of him from previous years.Turning around towards the guard, she lashed out at him."Get before me bastard and don't make me r
Elvis and Ms. Precious go back to the office where he is taken round the company by Ms. Precious who shows him everywhere."And this is your office," she said as she opened the last office, revealing an extravagant room. Elvis looked around in surprise, this was the biggest office he had seen since he was shown around. "It used to be your father's, Mr. Ford's office. But now that you have become the new President, it now belongs to you," she explained. He walked over to the President's seat and sat on it, he slowly felt the softness of the chair. He sighed weakly, then closed his eyes. "And what may I address you as?" He suddenly asked. Ms. Precious smiled, then replied, "Ms. Precious, your secretary and guardian as instructed by your father," Elvis nodded in satisfaction. He slowly opened his eyes and sat straight."Send the company's documents to me," He said, dismissing her with a wave of his hand. Without a word she left the office.Elvis sat up from the chair, he went over
For the next few minutes, Silas and Elvis were struggling on who was going to retain the documents. Thinking it was the same Elvis from high school he molested each day, Silas didn't giun until Elvis pushed him aside then he fell on the floor with a thud. Smirking, he rose, dusting his butt with his gaze fixed on him. "I didn't mean to push you that hard. You would have just stopped when I asked you to." Elvis scowled. People were loitering about but no one gave them any attention. "Get into the elevator." Silas snapped. "Why? I'm already on my way out." He replied, trying to brush past him but Silas grabbed his arm then pulled him into the elevator. Still wearing his evil smirk, he grabbed Elvis by the cuff of his shirt. Gritting his teeth in anger, he yelled, "What has come over you?" "I already told you. I'm sorry, okay. I didn't mean to hurt you." He mumbled, gasping for breath. Instead of letting him go, Silas tightened his grip on the cuff watching Elvis eyes water as he
When Ms. Precious returned to the office, she was surprised to still see Elvis seated with his legs across the other. "You said you wouldn't be here when I return." She said, flopping on her seat. "I changed my mind. Do you have a problem with that?" He asked, raising his brow at her. "Not at all." She replied, chuckling softly. After a brief silence, she cleared her throat to get his attention and when she did, she pushed her hair behind her ears. "Aren't you going to tell me what happened? Your neck is still reddened. Who tried to kill you?" She asked, her face masked with worry. As if that was not enough, she left her seat then went to his side, "Tell me, it's time we involve the police because the next time the perpetrator will kill you." She said, "I don't think so." He said, chuckling as the discomfort Silas would probably be facing at the moment. "It's not funny. Please tell me what happened so in case your father asks I will have an answer to give him." She said, towerin
Sarah flipped her hair to a side with a broad smile on her face. She knew Elvis had seen her and so she wanted him to be aware she had seen him too. "Mister, your direction." The cab man said, breaking the uncomfortable silence in the car. "Is she your passenger too?" He asked, nodding at Sarah. "Of course I am. Am I posing a threat to you?" She asked with a light chuckle."I'm sorry, I will pass." Elvis said hurriedly and even before the cab man could say a word, he had stuttered out of the car. Clenching his fists, he began to walk down the road with a scowl on his face. The least person he wanted to see was Sarah but there she was — smiling back at him. "I should have looked properly before boarding." He snapped, fist pumping the air. "Hey, be careful. Do you want to hit me?" Sarah asked, jolting Elvis in the process and making him stop on his track. Frowning, he swirled in her direction, "Why?" He asked with a large scowl. "What are you talking about?" "You ought to be in
Elvis sighed in frustration as the shop owner raked him from his head to his feet. He knew exactly what the shop owner was thinking and the more time he spent looking back at him, the more he became angry. "Please leave, I don't haggle prices here." The shop owner finally said. "What are you talking about?" Elvis asked, pretending to be unaware of what he was driving at. "Since you are dumb, I will explain to you just once." He paused then continued. "In this shop, all clothings and accessories are of fixed prices. We don't haggle prices for whatever reasons." The man replied. "I wasn't trying to haggle prices with you.""Then…" "I want you to package everything I have selected and then I will pay for each item." He explained. Throwing his head backwards, the shop owner burst into an annoying laughter causing a lone tear to escape from Elvis eyes. When the customers enquired on why the shop owner was laughing, he was quick to tell them and they began to make jest of him. "Ever
