Chapter Thirty-Eight

“I’m afraid I would have to turn your request down, Melanie. This is not the right time and you also know.” He sighed, rubbing his forehead.

“I have so many quests and challenges lying before me, but I can acknowledge your love by continuing our courtship.” He added after a brief silence. His eyes rolled from Melanie before rolling to her father.

“It’s her choice if she can be understanding.” Mr. Alcantara sighed. “We aren’t trying to sanction you into this, but as much as it's not a do-or-die affair, you still have to do it.” Mr. Alcantara informed him.

“I will do it when the time is right but as for now, I’m not up for it.” He stood up.

“We are not done here.” Mr. Alcantara snorted.

“I’m done and I have an important meeting to attend, please excuse me.” He said, giving them a short bow as he left the restaurant. Melanie watched him in silence.

“What do you see in that young man?” Mr. Alcantara broke the silence.

“Love?” She raised a brow and he shook his head in disbelief.

“Trust me
