Chapter 5

“This is not a dream, is it?” He muttered to himself as he constantly washed his face on the toilet sink.

“Five million dollars in just one mission?” He was still in disbelief. He gave a quick look around before taking out his phone from his pocket.

“5,000…” He counted the numbers over and over again until someone pushed him roughly and his phone fell.

“How dare you? Didn’t you see that I’m here?” He questioned, sounding annoyed.

“Someone? When calling people, do you think you would be called?” The lady rolled her eyes in disgust.

“Just take a look at yourself, do you look like someone who is living? You are nothing but a rag!” She washed her hands in the sink and cleaned her hands on his shirt.

“You see?” She scoffed before stepping out of the bathroom.

“What?” He looked at his stained shirt and back at the lady.

“This is a big insult in my face. I don’t even know her yet she had already concluded who I was.” He muttered as he picked up his phone and walked out of the public bathroom.

[User, are you ready to start with the Tycoon System] The robotic voice came up and he sighed, nodding his head.

“Yes, I want it.” For the slaps and insults he has been receiving, he said courageously, looking serious.

[Prepare for the next mission. It comes with both rewards and punishments.] The robotic voice informed him.

“I’m ready.” He nodded his head.

“But first, I need to do something.” As if he was talking to someone, he tucked his hand into his pocket and felt a paper-like something. When he pulled it out, it was a ten-dollar bill, he quickly called a cab.

Entering into RICH STATE bank, he was nervous. He couldn’t remember the last time he came to the bank neither did he know what to say. They wouldn’t believe he had such money in his account.

He suddenly developed courage when he remembered he had five million dollars lying in his account. There was nothing to be afraid of.

From the security check to the receptionist's desk, the eyes that were on him gave him uncomfortable vibes.

He was wearing a dirty pair of jeans, so brownish, it looked as though it had lost its original color. The shirt he was wearing had gone stale and torn at some edges. And his hair was so rough and left uncombed.

He swallowed hard, feeling so little after noticing how unpleasant he was.

“How can I help you?” The customer care lady questioned him curtly, the smile on her face was telling both annoyance and impatience.

“I… I” He stammered, closing his eyes briefly.

“I don’t have all the time with you so you better talk. What do you want and how can I help you?” The customer care’s voice became annoying.

“I want to check my account balance.” He said.

“Account balance?” She smirked, giving him a long look.

“Someone like you, is it necessary to check that? We all know you have just $5 if ever in your account, so don’t disturb me with something so flimsy.” She shunned him arrogantly.

“I... I know, I still want to check.” He urged calmly.

“I’m sorry, try the next desk.” She curled her lips.

Meanwhile, she began smiling at the customer standing behind him. It was obvious that they were playing partiality even in the bank.

“What’s the meaning of this? I’m also a customer here, you know.” He began and some eyes started drawing to him.

He wasn’t looking pleasant at all, he looked no different from a missing criminal and a beggar.

“I’m here to check my account balance, must you deprive me of that right? I know I’m poor and unworthy but at least I deserve the same right as other customers because I’m banking here.” He paused. “Why do you have to treat me like a fool or a rag when I have some money here?” He questioned her in anger and for a second, she was taken aback by his action.

She least expected to hear something like that coming from a peasant.

“What’s happening here?” A loud voice resonated in the atmosphere as a young middle-aged man approached them. The tag on his breast showed “Manager” and the lady composed herself.

“Sir, it’s this strange man. He is disturbing me to check his account balance, knowing fully well he has nothing less than $5 in his account.” She ranted impatiently, looking confident.

The manager had seen poor and broke students like Maximus, thus he gave him a long look and tried to act nice since he was the manager.

“What’s your name, young man?” The manager asked him calmly.

“I’m Maximus Prime.” He informed.

“Prime?” The manager nodded his head shortly as his surname rang a bell.

“Check his account balance immediately.” The manager instructed her seriously.

“Sir…?” She was reluctant but when she saw the look on her leader’s face, she faced Maximus.

“Give me your account details." She scoffed.

“00XXXXXX” He called it out for her and she typed it immediately, she wasn’t looking happy at all as she didn’t want to attend to a poor brat.

Her top client who would have tipped her and she had an eye on had already gone over to another desk, that alone made her angrier.

“Gosh!” Suddenly the lady gasped and all eyes turned to her. Her manager wondered what startled her.

He quickly walked over to her side and when he saw the digits on the computer, his eyes widened.

“What’s going on?” He asked them anxiously, looking clueless.

The manager stepped out for a while without exchanging any words with him.

“What’s happening? Is there no money there or something?” He didn’t know how to react but he urgently craved a response,

“Mr. Maximus Prime, you are under arrest for theft.” He looked at the side and saw some officers approaching him with handcuffs.

Behind them were his parents and brother, Kaiden.

“What? Arrested?” He gasped, looking confused.

“Why?!” He questioned loudly as they dragged him out of the bank, laughter filling the air.
