Chapter 4

“What did you say?” He absentmindedly asked the voice that was talking to him in his head.

“Mr. Maximus, are you okay?” The nurse who was with him asked politely as her eyes wandered in the room, they were the only ones there.

“I… I’m fine.” He nodded skeptically and the nurse sighed.

“You are fine now so you are free to leave.” The nurse informed him before leaving the room.

[User has Successfully Accepted the Tycoon System] A robotic voice came up again, resonating in the room.

“What? Tycoon system? Who are you?” He panicked and suddenly, a light flashed in his eyes and it developed a screen. He could see a computerized screen with a cursor for illustration through his eyes.

“This is crazy.” He shook his head in disagreement.

[Tycoon System will help you accomplish your task. For every mission, you would be given a reward and for every failure, you would be punished severely.] The robotic voice continued.

“So?” He curled his lips, trying to understand what was happening.

[You have a new mission, Max.] The robotic voice notified him.

“A new task? I don’t even know what is happening. Have I finally gone insane?” He laughed at himself in mockery.

“I can accept the fact that werewolves exist but system?” He laughed again. “Everything ends in science fiction books!” He exclaimed in annoyance.

[NEW MISSION: Confront Mr. Wayles]

[REWARD: 5 million dollars]

[PUNISHMENT: 3 DAYS STARVATION]

“Five million dollars?!? Do you think I’m some toddler that can be fooled?” He cussed.

“I know I’m a failure, a bunch of junk, and a dumbass, that doesn’t give even a fucking system the right to defame me!” He yelled in annoyance, as though he was speaking with a human.

“And 3 days of starvation? I’m poor but that doesn’t mean I can’t beg for food!” He grinned.

[REVOLT: All input of liquid or solid food will be vomited by the user which would automatically cause gastric ulcer.] The robotic voice informed him.

“What?” He gasped, jumping from the bed.

[User has 5 hours to accomplish this task else it will be recorded as failure.] The robotic voice said.

“Are you even human? 5 hours! I can’t even face my family, they abandoned me!” He cried out dolefully.

[No, I’m a system.] The robotic voice came up and he rolled his eyes sarcastically.

“I must be running insane.” He mumbled to himself.

Maximus was so desperate to level up and also anxious to know if truly he hadn’t run insane from the voice speaking in his head.

He knew it was already too late to meet his father at home so he prepared to go to his father’s company.

“Young man, where do you think you are going to?” Someone stopped him as two doctors approached him.

He stared at them, looking clueless.

“Is… there anything?” He questioned cryptically.

“Of course. We found you outside and because you were half-dead and had no family by your side, we had to treat you but since you are fine, you have to pay your hospital bill.” One of the doctors explained to him meticulously and he almost gasped.

“What?” He had thought that his father and brother brought him here but it was quite the opposite. They abandoned him in front of the hospital.

“You see… I…” He stuttered, unable to give them a valid explanation.

“If you don’t pay up, you won't be allowed to leave this hospital and we might call the police.” The doctor threatened him.

“Umm… Can…can I sign an IOU?” He asked nervously and the doctors exchanged weird stares.

“IOU?” They gasped almost at the same time.

Fortunately, the doctors were understanding to let him go as soon as he signed the loan wallet to pay before 48 hours.

He made his way to his father’s company, clouded in annoyance. He had seen more reasons to accomplish the system’s task.

Not because of the reward but for his family’s wickedness towards him.

He pushed Mr. Wayles' office door open and was shocked when he saw Kaiden with him. He swallowed hard, maintaining his bold countenance.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” Kaiden bashed at him almost immediately.

“Was the last lesson not enough to keep you on your lane?” Kaiden’s statement followed.

“I’m not here for you, duchebag. I’m here to see my father.” Kaiden and Mr. Wayles looked at him in shock.

He opened the office door and stared back at them.

“If you can’t stay quietly and listen, then piss off!” He instructed seriously in a curt tone.

“What?” Kaiden couldn’t help but gasp. The sight was shocking as his understudy Maximus had finally gotten back his lost voice.

“Tell me, you moron, why are you here? To cause more trouble?” Mr. Wayles stepped in when he noticed their intense stares which might lead to blows.

“I’m here to tell you something. Listen and listen good!” He began. “I know I’m an adopted son but before the contract was signed, I assume you read the instructions saying you would treat me with love but rather than love, you turned me into a slave, despise me when I fail, and love me when I succeed. And when your wife became pregnant, I became your lackey, your son’s slave, and your wife's maid. You didn’t love or appreciate me for once!” He screamed, beads of sweat resting on his forehead.

“I wore one outfit to college from beginning to end. I wore one outfit to university, and all these were never my size because you made sure I wore an already used outfit by Kaiden. I was treated like a rag, rat, and useless, yet you yield no love for me, why did you adopt me in the first place when you know you were born with no heart other than wickedness and selfishness!” He questioned him in anger and Kaiden responded in his father’s stead with a slap.

“What?” He placed a hand on his cheek, staring at his brother in shock.

“Don't you ever roll your mouth at my father like that, you fool!” Kaiden warned him.

“Get out of my office!!” Mr. Wayles followed, instructing in anger.

“I will leave but I promise you, you will beg me to come back. You will regret this.” He said coldly.

“I know no regret.” Mr. Wayles gritted his teeth.

He gave them a long dissatisfying look before storming out of the office.

By the time he got to the bustling street, his phone beeped and he saw a message.

“[CREDIT ALERT: $5,000,003 SENDER: TYSXXX]”

“What?” His phone almost fell from his hand as he gasped in disbelief and shock.
