Brad decided not to buy the David Webb. He already broke up with Linda even though he was planning a lifetime with her.
So, he had no use for David Webb anymore.
Instead, he took the taxi right to Stanford.
When he got to school, he mistakenly stepped into mud and it splashed dirty water on his clothes.
He groaned inwardly and entered the campus.
"It's happening!" A voice yelled suddenly and Brad was pushed aside.
He almost fell if it wasn't for his stamina.
A lot of students were moving towards the direction of the Dining hall and Brad wondered what was happening at the location.
But he wasn't interested. So, he turned towards his dorm instead.
"Brad!" Kevin yelled as he stopped in front of him. "You need to come to the Dining hall!" He said with urgency to his voice.
"Yes! Something is happening there right now!" Daniel added, stepping in beside Kevin.
Brad blinked once. "What's going on at the dining hall?"
"Instead of asking questions, I think we should go check out," Kevin muttered.
Daniel sighed. "Mick is proposing to his girlfriend today," he announced.
Brad released an exasperated sigh. He was done with Mick for today. Why? He slept with his girlfriend and yet, he had the gut to propose to another girl?
How could he use and dump his girlfriend?
Even though Brad couldn't bring himself to forgive Linda but he still couldn't overlook the wickedness in Mick.
"Let's go," Brad muttered.
The three guys followed the crowd to the Dining hall.
It was seething with people as students couldn't wait to find out who Mick was eventually going to propose to.
He was a handsome boy, and aside from that, he was known as the richest boy on campus.
"Wow, I'm so jealous of the girl. Who is she?" A soft voice muttered.
Brad was filled with rage. He wanted to walk to Mick and punch the heck out of him.
But the lady turned towards the crowd eventually and Brad's face fell. It was none other than Linda.
Linda was blushing and smiling down at the gigantic diamond ring on her finger. She looked up, and their gaze held and locked for a moment.
A flicker of emotion passed through her eyes for a moment before she suddenly advanced towards Brad.
She stopped a few feet away and threw a ring at Brad. "Here's your 200 dollars worth of ring."
Everyone gasped and murmurs ensued.
"What? Brad proposed to Linda? One of the top 5 beauties of Stanford?"
"That poor thing? Could he compete with Mick in terms of everything?"
"He's just a loser!"
"Linda_" Brad muttered with a shaking voice. He was too shocked to even utter a sentence.
"What? You have something to say?" Mick laughed. His eyes sparkled as he walked closer to Linda and snaked his arm around her waist.
It was vividly clear at that point that Mick had really instigated it. He wanted to turn Brad into a laughingstock.
Everyone started to take pictures of them.
"So, everyone!" Mick called suddenly. "There will be free food this evening at Outback Steakhouse!" He announced and everyone jubilated. "But that will only happen if Brad will be coming," he muttered with a smirk.
He looked at Brad as if daring him to reject.
Brad scoffed. "To hell with your free food! I'm not coming anywhere!"
"Fine!" Mick spread his arms dramatically. "This loser has decided your fate. So, no free food!"
"Brad is such an arrogant fool! Mick is only trying to act nice and he's being stubborn!" One of the students muttered.
"Yes! Mick is rich and kind!"
Brad looked at Mick. "What are you doing?"
Mick let go of Linda and moved closer to him. "What does it look like I'm doing? Humiliation is the least of what I plan for you because I know you will be attending the Outback Steakhouse," he smirked and gestured for Linda.
Brad looked at Linda with pity. If Linda was just a bit patient with him, he would have taken good care of her.
Mick and Linda both walked through the path created by the students, entered their car, and drove away.
Brad knew what Mick was doing. He intentionally wanted to force him to go to the steakhouse and perhaps disgrace him.
He had his girlfriend and he still didn't want to leave him alone.
"Brad! Why won't you go to the steakhouse?" A student asked suddenly, jerking him out of his thoughts. "Mick is merely trying to act nice to you but you are turning him down? You are such a loser!"
"No! He's angry at the fact that Mick took Linda! But he doesn't even have the money to take care of Linda!"
"Linda is a beauty, while Mick is money. That's a good combination, not otherwise."
"I think Brad is allowed to make his choice," a voice muttered softly and walked closer to Brad.
It was Sophia, one of Brad's classmates. Sophia had never spoken to him before but she had never joined others to provoke or embarrass him. She was just plain.
"Here," she muttered and stretched out the ring to him.
Brad took it with gratitude.
"Well, if Brad isn't going, we won't be getting free food as well. If he won't be eating, he could just go there for our sake!"
"Yes, he should act useful for a while."
"Yes! And stop being the loser!"
"No! He's a loser! He's probably pained that Linda is no more his."
Comments came flying from different angles that even Sophia could no longer interfere with even though she really wanted to stop them from being so harsh.
She felt like the disgrace that Mick and Linda gave Brad was unnecessary and harsh.
"You have to go!"
A Rolls Royce drove into the location suddenly, putting a stop to the comments around Brad.
And everyone's attention suddenly turned towards the luxurious car.
"Who could own that car? Did Mick come back?"
Mick was the only one that they believed could drive such a car.
The door opened suddenly and a man in an Italian suit got down. He hesitated and looked over at the students before he advanced closer.
"Who is he? He looks younger! And handsome! Is he a new student?"
All the girls blushed even harder.
The girls thought he was merely going into the dining hall but they were shocked when he stopped in front of Brad.
"Mr Harrier, you need to come with me," he said with respect.
Brad was a bit shocked. He didn't remember seeing the man before and wondered what could have happened. The man in the suit moved aside with a curt bow and gestured towards the luxurious car."Who is he? And why is he speaking with Brad?""Does he know him? But how?""How can a poor guy like Brad know this rich and handsome man?"Comments came flying from around Brad. Even his friends were shocked to their bone marrow.Brad followed the man to the car, with eyes still staring right behind them."Who are you?""I'm sorry, boss, for not giving you the respect that you deserve," he apologised with a short bow.Brad didn't miss the fact that the man had referred to him as 'Boss'. So, he was definitely someone that knew him very well."You are still yet to answer my question. Who are you?""I'm Pete and I'm taking you to meet your assistant. She's already waiting for you in the restaurant," he explained.Soon enough, the car pulled into one of the popular restaurants in town.Arctic Circle
The three friends stepped out of their room. Indeed, there were a large number of students waiting for them. "You know that you can't really force him to go to the Outback Steakhouse," David muttered. "Shut up!" One of the female students, Bertha, shushed him. "It's not like you can treat all of us to dinner! Mick made it clear that he can only buy dinner for us if you come to Steakhouse. Why are you so stubborn, Brad?" Kevin moved close to Brad, in fear. "I think you should follow them. They will make life unbearable for us if we decide to stay." Well, Brad had nothing to lose. He nodded once. "Alright, I will come with you." "Better!" Bertha said arrogantly and turned to the rest of the students. "Brad has agreed to follow us. So, we should all meet at the outback steakhouse." "Yes!" The students jubilated, excited at the meal they were going to have at Steakhouse. They turned away and left one after the other except for Bertha. Kevin regarded her for a moment with surprise
“What did you just do?” Mick asked, half yelling. He couldn’t believe what had happened. He stared with eyes gone gobsmacked, at the shattered David Webb.David Webb is a necklace made of diamond stone. As a result, dropping the necklace wouldn’t make it shatter. Diamonds can only break when excess pressure is being applied."See, it's fake or why else would it break? A real diamond doesn’t shatter like that."Hot anger surged through Mick. "What do you think you just do?" Linda asked in terror. Even though, she couldn’t help but find it weird that David Webb would break so easily. But she was still going to take Mick’s side.Truly, it was fake but Mick was astonished at the fact that Brad could figure it out. When he got to Miller May, there was a buyer for David Webb already. The manager, after so much thought, concluded to sell the necklace to any buyer who could pay the highest amount for it.The buyer was no other than Ava, a representative of StreamRoll, a very popular streaming
“I said it! There was no way!” Mercury laughed. “He must have stolen the card. He’s not worth all these waits.”“Yes, he’s obviously just in pain. There’s no way he can afford such an amount of money. His salary at the hotel is just 2000 dollars. How then can he afford 50,000 dollars,” Linda snickered.Brad was shocked. He turned to the waiter. “How is that possible? You have to try it again! Or maybe your machine is broken.”At least, he got the card earlier that day. Why would it be invalid? The waiter pulled out the card and inserted it again. He stretched it out to Brad again. Yet again, the card beeped and the waiter looked up at Brad. “It’s invalid,” He announced again.“Brad was bragging. Do you seriously think he can afford it?” Bertha mocked.“Then he needs to apologise to Mick. He’s not his mate!” Mercury muttered.“I support that. In fact, it has to apologise to every student present here,” Linda added. Bertha nodded once. “And call me godmother.”“No, I can’t accept that
Mick stepped out of Outback Steakhouse a few minutes after Brad and his friends left. He had no zeal to continue the party anymore. "Mick!" Linda hurried after him.Even Though Brad spent 50k dollars, Linda still couldn't accept the fact that he was richer. After all, it was Mick that got her the latest iPhone. He had never felt so embarrassed in his entire life and even though he had promised to make Brad pay, he was yet to decide what to do with him. That aside, he knew that he still had to secure his position as the richest guy on campus because of what Brad had done."Are you alright?" Linda asked. The students scurried out of Outback Steakhouse just as Mick opened his mouth to reply to Linda.“You have to do something!” a deep voice yelled, suddenly diverting attention to him. “Do you even know the worth of money in that Supreme card? You know what? I demand to see the manager this instant,” the man fumed. The waiter bowed slightly. “I will do that sir,” he muttered and hurried
Brad was shocked. Just like that?"You will be attended to now, boss," Ava assured and the phone went off.Brad went back to Kevin and David. "Brad, he's unconscious. Is he going to die?" He whimpered.Brad shook his head briefly. "He won't, I promise.""Then why is no one attending to him!" He half-yelled, frustrated. The receptionist moved towards them. She had a cold expression on. "You are disturbing the peace of the patients in the hospital. If you can't keep mute, you should leave.""We can't leave!" David fired back. "It's your duty to attend to him!"The receptionist got even more annoyed. "Leave this instant or I call the security guards to drive you out," she threatened."We are not leaving and that's it! You have to attend to my friend! Nothing must happen to him!" David yelled out.The receptionist scoffed. "Seriously? Then we will see who owns the power," she boasted."And what the heck is going on here?" A deep baritone voice yelled suddenly. They all whirled around to
"What? What are you talking about?" Brad was shocked and confused. The fact that his father headed a mob group wasn't enough but it was his turn to take over.Jude cleared his throat meaningfully. "I will excuse you to talk more," he muttered and didn't wait for a reply before he walked out of the room.Ava looked at Jude until he was out of the room before she turned to look at Brad again. "When your friend was shot, did you notice anything? The car or the people?"Brad nodded once, remembering what he saw. "The number plate had 'Ghost' on it."Ava's eyes went wide with shock. "Shit! I knew it!" She cursed softly.Brad stared at her blindly."We received a piece of news that you were dead. That you were killed by the Ghost," she explained.Brad hesitated as he took the information in. He regarded Ava for another moment as if he couldn't believe it. "What you mean to say is that I was supposed to die? That bullet was meant for me?"Ava nodded slowly."Fuck!" Brad turned away. His min
Mick enjoyed the rest of the night because he knew that his plan to disgrace Brad was instant. The man gave him his business card and Mick was supposed to call him early in the morning so he could take his guardians to Brad's dorm. Mick didn't know who the man really was but he guessed that he was definitely a foreigner with money and power. And he wasn't even worried about who Brad could be. That's it! Brad wouldn't get off so easily. Brad had called early that morning and in fact, gave them some guidelines for getting to the male dormitory. But he had to hurry and make sure the whole thing happened in his presence so that he could gloat about it. That aside, he planned to take some videos and spread them on students' apps, especially the StreamRoll app which is popular among students. When he got to Brad’s dormitory, the men were standing outside already as well as a few of the students that wondered what the whole thing was all about. One of the men, that looked and acted as
