Chapter 5

24 hours earlier

Mr. Modrick sat with his knees crossed over his legs, enjoying a sip of ancient brewed tea when a man walked in a wheelchair and someone behind him.

Mr. Modrick's face quickly broke up in cold sweat even though this stranger didn't seem powerful. He soon fell to his knees, not daring to maintain eye contact.

"Good day, sir." He quickly greeted but this pleasant exchange was ignored.

"How are you faring with Eddie?" He cut through the chase and went directly for the reason that he was there.

"Even though he refused my plan, he still walked into it. He is married off now to Clara from the Chaste family business group and for the study of medicine, I was able to reach an end with his previous student, Doctor Harrison to stop him from practicing." He explained.

There was a smile on the stranger's face that didn't make him look too dangerous anymore. But that was until he said.

"But Doctor Harrison is playing difficult. He said he can no longer keep lying to his master and wants to spill the truth."

The anger of the stranger suddenly flared up as he hit his hands on the wall, creating a mole in it. "That ingrate." He growled.

"We can't allow Eddie to know about his true identity if he wants to live a peaceful life. That's the reason that we whipped most of his Memories in the first instance.

If that punk does, he is going to ruin everything. And not only that, the world country is going to be plunged into chaos and Eddie would be in trouble.

A whole lot of trouble."

"I believe you know how to shut the mouth of that bastard and make sure that Eddie is plugged deeper into living a normal life." He ended.

"That brings us back to the question, who is Eddie?" Sophia was saying from a different part of the city.

***********

Eddie's eyes were farrowed and just by looking at his father, he could tell that there was absolutely nothing wrong with him.

“Why did I lie?“ He inquired swiftly, his anger badly.

“I wanted to see you, Eddie. You are still my son, remember?“ He stared right into his eyes but Eddie was not buying his explanation even for a single moment.

He had known his father for such a long time and he was certainly not going to fall for his tricks.

“The both of us already know that you didn't call me here just to look at my face and throw compliments at me. What do you want, Dad? To tie me up to your master plan once again?“ Je frowned even harder as more memories flashed in his head.

“I know Eddie that I was wrong and I just want to make up for all those injuries that I cost you. I want to be a father Eddie and we can't eliminate the fact that you are still my heir.“ He replied.

Eddie stared right into his eyes for some moment and for the first time since he could remember, they seemed genuine.

“I don't have any problem with you following your dreams Edward. Or marrying the lady.“

The rest of the words of his father seemed not to have been spoken at all as they were submerged in his thoughts.

'You were right after all. Love no longer exists and nothing came out of me pursuing my so-called dreams.“ He replied.

“Can you forgive me?“

Eddie walked slowly over to his father and gave him a warm hug and after a while, they parted.

For the first time since he could remember, he could see a smile hovering on the face of his father and that gladdened his heart.

“And before I forget.“ His father clapped his hands slightly and a group of guards walked in.

He handed over a golden platinum card to him with his full name inscribed on it.

“This is for cutting off all your sources of income.“ He said.

“Tem trillion dollars, just for your living allowance.“

Immediately his father spat out the words from his mouth, and his face brightened.

Right from birth has always known his father to be super wealthy, but never interested in his business life.

And it just occurred to him that he didn't even know his father's Net Worth.

“Dad, where are you on the business chart?“ He finally found the voice to inquire.

“Top three of the Octa Trillionaires in the world.“ He responded. “Your surname, Maxwellita, is the third most dreaded name in the world. Enough to bring good fortune.“ He responded with a smile

For the first time, he felt guilty about not helping his father in his business, and for the first time, he asked.

“Father, I want to be your heir. I want to help you.“

“What about…”

“I think this is the path for me, Father.“ He responded.

“I know you are married and I don't want to separate you from your family so you can head the division established in your city. Even though it maintains the top three positions, I am sure that it can do better without mismanagement.

I will set up everything that you need.

“And I don't think you will have to give up on your dreams either. Your Master right-hand man was here. He wanted to see you urgently.“ He said and his eyes almost fell off from his eyes socket.

“Master?“ The heart rate increased faster than normal.

Back at Sophia's mansion, the old man was taken care of properly but he still felt tense.

“I want everyone out of the room immediately.“ There was an air of Dominance in his voice.

“Is there anything wrong Father?“ Sophia Inquired, her eyes neatly curled into her eye socket as she continued to pair right into his eyes.

“Don't I have the right to talk to my daughters privately anymore?“ There was a sudden twitch in his expression.

Sophia wanted to object, nailing it on the fact that if there was anything that he needed at the moment, it was going to be a lot of rest.

But she could easily tell that arguing with her father was nothing more than shooting into space.

“And what are you all still doing here?“ She made a gracious whimper at the maids, creating an air of intimidation in the hall almost immediately.

“Okay.“ They all bowed slightly, walking swiftly off from the place.

“Now tell me, who was the extremely brilliant young man who was able to treat me so effortlessly?“ He could not hide the inequality in his eyes no matter how hard he tried.

“Just a random stranger that walked in. I don't think that we should be worried about him. The most essential thing is that you are fine now.“ Latoya responded instantly, seeking the immediate withering of the topic.

“Latoya? Do you realize how much we have offended that young man?

Do you believe that he is a regular bum? With his gracious walk? I think that he is someone powerful, someone that we don't want to be at odds with.

So what do you suggest that we do?“ Sophia Inquired.

“Find him, no matter how you have to do it. And apologize to him.“

Latoya was about to object when the door suddenly fled open and the assistant manager of the company walked into the room.

There was a weird expression on his face, one that was enough to stare up the frit in the eyes of anyone staring at him.

Sophia sprang up from the floor with sudden urgency.

“What's wrong?“ She inquired swiftly.

“There is trouble?“ He replied.

Her eyes were farrowed as she continued to stare at him demanding an explanation but he was hesitant

His eyes sped off towards the old man as she drew closer to Sophia and spoke in whispers.

“The?“ He was about to say but was prevented by the old man.

“You will not say a word if it can't be said to everyone here.“ His voice echoed in the room, getting the assistant manager even more confused than he was already.

With an affirmative nod, Sophia gave him the go-ahead to say whatever it was that he had to say.

“It's the company's management. Half hee down with a strange aura. And they are all at the hospital unable to speak as we speak.“ There was panic in his eyes.

Their eyes sped off as they exchanged glances.

“This is really bad news. If the Hopkins community notices anything about this, we will be removed from having the project instantly and the company will be stripped into troubled waters after all our hard work.

I will hide this from the public but right now, we need to get Eddie right away if we ever want to be pulled away from this crisis.

And Latoya, you have to be ready to apologize.“ He said swiftly.
