The decision should be finalized, that’s what they wanted. But the sudden change of course can’t predict the finality; their shocked faces, wide eyes and the sweat running at the side of their faces is evident. The rich girl named Olivia held the arms of her father since she was embarrassed about her father’s behavior. She didn’t even glance at Antonio.
“What’s wrong with you, father!?” Olivia said, quite annoyed. “That guy is the one who throw the punch to Dale,”
“I don’t care if he’s the one who punches Dale,” the rich girl’s father stated, as if he wanted to make Antonio the victim of the said ridiculous menagerie.
Dale glared at Olivia. Olivia stomp his feet and gritted her teeth, “Father, in the first place you shouldn’t apologize,”
“We should, my daughter,” the rich girl’s father said with conviction.
Mr. Smith vocalizes his concern on the situation, “That poor uneducated poor should be the one to apologize. After all, Dale and Olivia had their reasons,”
Dale is behind his father while crossing his arms. Antonio on the other hand is looking intently at the back door in which the principal is standing. The other people in the crowd seem silent and only their eyes and their breaths are being seen and felt.
“This must be a misunderstanding, Olivia. We shouldn’t look down on other people. I didn’t raise you being mean to your colleagues,” the rich girl’s father lectured Olivia while looking at him, facing his back to Antonio.
“Father, he punched Dale due to a sudden outburst,” she said “He’s violent!’
“That’s not even true, I guess. Maybe, someone provoked him,” the rich girls father presumed
“Then, who could it be?” the principal suddenly spoke.
The rich girl's father gazed at Dale back to her daughter. “Maybe, Dale? Olivia?”
Dale’s eyebrows furrowed. Olivia yelled her sentiments about the sudden accusation of his dear father.
“Why are you blaming me, father?” she said, “You weren’t there.”
“Then, you should explain what actually happened, Olivia. Not you, defending yourself and justifying the situation because of the boy’s status." The rich girl’s father tried his best to stay calm and collected.
“I DIDN’T DEFEND MYSELF JUST TO MOCK THAT BOY, FATHER!!!” Olivia yelled.
The rich girl's face is red like a tomato just by screaming at the top of her lungs and a glistened unshed tears on her eyes. Dale held the shoulders of Olivia just to calm her down. The rich boy’s father spoke and looked at the principal and Antonio’s calm demeanor. It was nothing to him, he guessed.
“You did, Olivia! Now, you should respect me and let your apology be freed to your mouth,” the rich father requested Olivia to make amends to Antonio.
The rich man is still standing in front of Antonio; Olivia’s father is still gazing at Antonio with anticipation as if he’s standing with a president of the country. Antonio doesn’t mind the gazing but Antonio hopes he doesn’t recognize him.
“I don’t want to, father. He’s a notorious thief. He’s poor and he stole my phone,” Olivia explained her hatred to Antonio and the reason why she wouldn’t bow her head to Antonio, even her father told her to.
“Olivia told me to spread the information since it was actually based on her experience.” Dale spoke, adding some sentences to Olivia’s story. By creating a perfect scheme story, you should have another person to tell other details to make it more appealing.
“Also, it is an indication that him being poor is true because he landed me a punch right into my cheek,” Dale said, while unconsciously touching his left cheek when he noticed Antonio gazing at him, he smirked.
Antonio tried his best not to flick his middle finger at Dale. The rich girl's father shaked his head in disapproval. Dale’s father has his chance to speak and to his litany, Olivia’s father’s eyebrow raises as if questioning Mr. Smith.
“You should not stop that low, Mr. Fanelli,” Mr. Smith said, portraying an arrogant businessman who find a way to labeled Mr. Fanelli as a low class businessman.
“Do you know exactly where you put your maps, Mr. Smith? I guess not since your spurring nonsense,” Mr. Fanelli uttered and Mr. Smith was offended. “I know if you found the map, you would exactly do the same; started kissing someone’s shoes,”
“This wouldn’t hurt your pride if you make amends with this boy, Mr. Antonio,” Mr. Fanelli said, sincerely focused on Antonio’s existence, because after all it will be all about him. “He’s more than what you think of him,”
Antonio started to feel uncomfortable. He knows exactly what he’s about to say and Antonio doesn’t want to risk that. Besides, the company decided to keep the news for so long; and publicly revealed it in a week or so. If it leaked, in a situation like this, it would be fatal.
“He’s just that, Mr. Fanelli,” Mr. Smith uttered. “And nothing else,”
“He’s not a common person, Mr. Smith. He’s not poor as you labeled him to be,” Mr. Fanelli declared.
Dale and Olivia don't expect a grand confession about it. They both sniffled a laugh and Antonio peeked at Olivia. He thought that she’s a hard case and spoiled irrelevant bitch. Dale caught Antonio looking at Olivia, and he whispered to her. She noticed that Antonio was watching her; annoyed, she just rolled her eyes.
“He’s the heir of De Isqueirda–” the rich girl's father stated the facts but get intercepted by her daughter.
“Why are you so kind to him, father? He’s just nothing,” Olivia said.
“Do you think being an heir is nothing, Olivia?” Olivia’s father questioned her. “Speak your mind, young boy,”
“Ah, yes!” Antonio blurted out. “Mr. Fanelli showed me his consideration because I once helped him picking up fresh vegetables in a market,”
Antonio thought he could get away with the situation since he praised Mr. Fanelli but he almost got slapped by Olivia, which she doesn’t like what she actually heard.
“You’re just doing the bare minimum you pretentious boy,” Olivia said, standing a meter away with Antonio. But, the rich girl’s father called the guards and other school personnel to let her daughter into the car.
Olivia is squirming and tries to get away with the grip of the guards on her wrist and shoulders.
“What do you mean, he’s an heir, Mr. Fanelli?” Dale asked, curiosity killed him. He doesn’t even glance at Antonio and Olivia, who are being dragged away from the hall.
“Everyone please leave,” Mr. Fanelli said. Right after her daughter got dragged away from the hall. The riches wanted them to be escorted away from the hall and Antonio received a reassuring nod from Mr. Fanelli. One of Mr. Fanelli’s assistants tapped Antonio’s shoulders, he relaxed a bit and sighed.
The rich girl doesn’t even want to get involved now and proceeds to gazed at Antonio despite the sudden behavior of her father. Olivia had her common sense now; her father who’s about to slap her but it didn't happen since they wanted to get away from the hall and leave as if nothing happened. No one even wondered that the rich girl's father would do that to her daughter. Antonio doesnt gawk even further since he knows that Olivia will follow her father’s command. They will feel sorry, Antonio thought. Everyone is looking since they knew, yes even the personal assistant of the rich girl’s father knows who I am and they would pretend I am just a normal university kid who is supposed to be kicked out. Suddenly, the rich girl interrupted the conversation of his father and one of Antonio’s personal assistants. They are outside of the university premises and they vouch not to cause another scene. The rich girl’s father didn’t even see how her daughter tried to make amends to Antonio.
Antonio already has its path of independence. Right after the chaos in his university, he decided to book a fancy restaurant away from the downtown; the dark nights twinkling with the light of hope and opportunity of getting drunk with life-- must be the truth he always wanted to have. The manager of the said pub guided him to the reserved table, prepared a rum and glasses of expensive finger bites. Antonio seated, crossed legs and gazing at the manager who seems anxious and waiting for his orders. Antonio thinks that the other employees in the said pub seem curious of sudden changes of their manager's personality. The manager spoke to him in a calm tone which Antonio seemed shocked. Antonio noticed that it sounded so scripted and he wanted to put an end to his blabbering mouth, but he can't because he don;t want to have a reputation of being rude to the manager, even to employees who are eyeing him with death glare, as if he can buy them. I mean, he can but he won't. “How does a d
Antonio doesn't need to know more about the drinking session he had last night. He woke up feeling thirsty and still on his clothes. No one in the house dared to touch him or even change his clothes to make him comfortable. Everyone thinks he's some sort of an individual who's off limits. He doesn't have a severe hang-over and he decided to strip off his clothes. He walks naked in his modern room, filled with black and white motifs. He even walked to his glass window near his toilet. Antonio examined himself there, standing and staring to his biceps, to his stomach and down to his center. For a minute, he stood there, reminiscing the conversation he had from that particular female staff member. Antonio thought about the female staff's name. But a part of him knew her name but he forgot. He showered all his thoughts, doubts and worries. Everyday is a constant battle of knowing what to do of his new lifestyle. One of his personal assistant rush in, and ask Antonio what he wanted to d
It's Saturday afternoon. Mostly during these hours, the pub will be empty, no one is ordering their fave cocktails in the bar, or mostly flirting with their female staff members. It's an unusual sight, the manager said. All of the people are circling a certain table, far away from the entrance. It’s near the jukebox and the comfort room door. They are standing, hands on their chin, whispering and gawking at two people sitting at the table with a chess board and a clock. The female staff wears glasses with her hair down, wearing his female staff outfit. Her opponent is a stranger, who seems like a pub reviewer from the local government unit where they can revoke your license to operate. They instantly played chess as if they bet their life on it. One of the onlookers explained the game to his children, who didn't even know the rules of the game. ‘I want to play like her, dad,’ the children excitedly told her father. The father nodded and said, ‘In a right time, darling,’ The childre
Antonio thought his mother married a dead man. But, it had a different meaning. His mother tried to hide her relationship to a black sheep, a man who's son of a multi-billionaire and tried to leave a life penniless. Antonio knew the story by now because his relatives went to his house a couple of hours ago. Antonio doesn't have the mood to entertain visitors; his own relatives which he didn't even meet. They even tell all the most absurd stories and gossip they ever have, even the personal assistants of Antonio seem uncomfortable with the situation. When the time comes for the fitting of his suit, they bid farewell. Antonio politely guided them in the exit doors. "See you, tomorrow." "The universe will guide you with wisdom and grace, Tonio," one of his relatives who wears a boho hat prayed to him over. "Thank you, Mrs. Oberian," Antonio said. They give him kisses on the cheeks and bid him farewell. They already established a good reputation on socialization in which Antonio is h
The take over, meeting and introduction went smoothly, everyone in the company clapped their hands, whispered and thought about the future endeavors of the newly appointed CEO and his team. Everyone flashes smiles, giving their congratulatory messages and doubtful gazes to Antonio. On the other hand, Antonio is still calm, collected and down-to-earth. He shakes everyone’s arms, brushes all the doubtful and arrogant gazes of other committees and employees, but he avoided being rude since he wanted their permission to let him do his own thing. It’s appropriate to actually pretend that he has all the things in life but the permission and the likeness of the committee is all he has minus the money and power. Antonio has a conversation with one of the company owners in The Tower. “What’s your plan? I heard from your grandfather that you’ll have it listed,” an old man with wrinkled face and tailored suit, with a respected aura said. “I tend to keep it that way, since publicizing the lis
All the designated staff in the company placed a 10-page file in the table. They even distributed a piece of banana, orange slices and cranberry juice to satisfy their well-being. Elyse ate the banana since she's hungry and nervous. The silence in the room is palpable and she senses a hierarchy in the people who are on the table. Normally, the meeting room will be lively and packed but today it's a private session of the new organization team chosen by Antonio and his grandfather. Needless to say, only three people over ten are already in the room. Suddenly, the door swung and it showed two mid-30's. Elyse, is the only person standing and greeted them. The other two politely nodded and gazing at Antonio. Elyse noticed that the other two people in front of her didn't even care. The woman extended her arm to Elyse, introducing herself. "Hello, I'm Bennet Houseffer," she said, and she spoke to her companion. "This is Carlyle Jones," Elyse both shakes their hands. Carlyle examined Ely
Antonio haven’t heard any single farewell from Elyse, Elizabeth and Mr. Sanrino. When he quickly went into the exit doors, he saw them talking in the hallway, as if halting Elyse to go home. They just stand there as if they are long time friends. The old man and his personal assistant went into the meeting hall and Antonio tore off his gaze to those three people he called them triumvirate. The old man, who’s everyone called him like that instead of De Isqueirda Senior. “I didn't have any opinion about the media’s incessant question about the newest CEO,” The old man said without even sitting on his seat. “For sure, you’ll do it later, grandpa,” Antonio said, confidently gazing at his grandfather who built this empire with his trusted executives. “As I promise I wouldn’t put your face on the tabloid,” his grandfather assured. Antonio nodded, agreeing to his father’s behavior. “The files aren’t retrieved, yet.” One of the production managers said. He intently looked at Antonio befo
