Chapter 2 : New Life and Encounters

"Is this the world that comes after death?"

Ariel asked himself this question, and all of a sudden, he felt himself start to come back to. Ariel can still remember bits and pieces of what happened with Julie and the big fight against the demon clan alliance.

Ariel opened his eyes. At that moment, he started to wake up, and tears started to fall from his eyes. Ariel felt bad about his mistakes and about not being able to help the people he cared about.

Ariel started to move around. Ariel once more asked himself, "How was he still alive?" He remembered that he had given up his life to get rid of the demon clan alliance.

"Is this because of Levin's seal that locks the soul and body together?"

Ariel started to think about how the war, Edgar, Levin, and the whole land of wonders had all ended. Then Ariel started to straighten up and take a look at himself and his surroundings.

Ariel first saw and felt a dark, damp ceiling and heard the sound of water dripping. Ariel saw that he was in a cave he had never been in before.

Ariel looked at how he was doing and couldn't believe that he was still living and that his body had changed to look a little younger. Ariel's body was naked at the time, but Ariel saw a black cloth cove it. It looked like someone had brought the black cloth. Then, Ariel saw a black crow come out of nowhere from the side. From the way the crow looked, it seemed like it had been waiting for Ariel to wake up the whole time.

"Thank you," responded Ariel. Ariel wondered why a crow was hanging out with him and why it brought him that piece of cloth. What made Ariel even more curious was that the crow seemed to understand what Ariel was saying.

Ariel then looked at the ring on his finger. The ring was an advanced storage device that the angel clan often used. It turned out that the ring was still on his finger, so maybe that was all Ariel had at the time. Many of Ariel's riches and valuable items from the Land of Miracles were inside the ring.

When Ariel saw the ring, he thought of Julie, his girlfriend. Ariel felt sad again that he couldn't protect Julie, even though he hadn't been able to show her how much he loved her by giving her an engagement ring.

Ariel swore an angry word. Ariel thought that Julie and all the clans died because of him. He thought that if he didn't try to reach the top of his power, the war might not have happened and he could still see Julie.

Ariel then took the storage ring off his finger and threw it into a small lake in the cave while yelling, "What's the point of trying to reach the peak of strength if I can't save the people I care about?"

Ariel then sat down to think. He felt like he had no purpose in life anymore; he felt empty. It even crossed his mind that he didn't want to live anymore and wanted to kill himself.

But, seeing Levin's sacrifice, which gave him life and the power of the seal that sealed his everlasting soul and body, Ariel chose to try to live once more to respect Levin's sacrifice, even though he didn't know what he should do now. Ariel, too, didn't feel the current power; Ariel's once-dominant power seemed to have vanished.

Ariel told himself that he didn't need that power any longer; power would only bring calamity. Ariel then returned his gaze to the crow, who was still standing alongside Ariel. Ariel reminded himself that he had agreed to keep living for the time being in order to return the black crow's compassion.

"You will be my first friend and family after my second life; I'll call you Nero," Ariel told the crow.

The crow then climbed upon one of Ariel's shoulders, as though it understood what Ariel had spoken. Ariel then searched for a passage out of the cave while carrying Nero on his shoulders. When Ariel emerged from the cave, Ariel was met with a view of a wide forest filled with many trees and enormous stones. In the middle of the forest, there is a volcano.

Ariel didn't want to do anything right now, so he decided to look for food first because his stomach was starting to feel hungry.

Ariel looked around the small lake in the cave to see if there were any fish. But, for whatever reason. There were no fish in the small lake that could be eaten.

Ariel then went into the bush to look for fruits and caught small animals like rabbits, small reptiles, and partridges to eat in the cave with Nero.

Ariel did not want to go too far from the cave because he knew that the forest was not like any other forest. It was full of dangerous animals. Ariel has lost all of his strength, so he doesn't want to do anything hasty outside the cave.

Those days went on until Ariel and Nero were resting in the cave one day when there was a loud rumble and a lot of lightning. Ariel then looked out of the cave for a while because he thought something was going on. The rumble and lightning were caused by a woman fighting with a dragon in the sky, it turned out.

The woman wore blue clothes, carried a sword, and used the power of the blue fire glow to fight. When the woman fought the dragon, there was a lot of lightning.

The woman was strong, but the dragon was able to withstand her attacks. Not only that, the dragon fought back with a golden tail slash. At first glance, the woman and the golden-tailed dragon seemed to have the same strength.

Ariel saw the fight from a distance and thought that the woman and the golden dragon were almost as strong. In the past, Ariel was much stronger than the woman and the golden tail dragon, but now he was as weak as an ant compared to them. Ariel could be killed at any time if he got involved in the fight.

Ariel became aware of his circumstances and returned to the cave. Ariel didn't want to cope with things that reeked of power and conflict any longer. He just wanted to be calm and tranquil right now.

But, before Ariel returned to the cave, his gaze was drawn to the woman's sword, the engravings and shape of which were identical to the relic in the land of miracles.

Ariel started to wonder if this world was still connected to the land of miracles. But before Ariel thought too much about it, he stopped himself from not caring.

Ariel went back into the cave to rest again, and he didn't care that the woman and the golden tail dragon were fighting and making a lot of noise.

Sunlight and morning dew started to come back. The roar of war was never heard or seen again like it was yesterday. It looks like the woman and the golden tail have finished fighting.

As normal, Ariel went out of the cave to look for food ingredients. Ariel and Nero started walking along the forest's edge. Ariel took some apples. Ariel caught some snakes and small insects back then, but he didn't manage to catch any rabbits or partridges today.

Suddenly, Nero flew away from Ariel and towards a bush. When Ariel followed Nero, Ariel was surprised to see the woman who had fought with the golden tail dragon the night before already lying behind a corner of the forest trees.

"Hey, are you all right?" Ariel spoke to the woman:

But the woman's mouth did not make a sound and she did not respond to Ariel's words right now. Ariel quickly checked the woman's body to see if the beautiful woman was still alive or not. Ariel's hand started to get closer to the woman to check her pulse. It looked like the woman's pulse was still there, which showed that she was still living. In that situation, Ariel wanted to help the woman, but on the other hand, he wanted to leave her alone. Ariel didn't want to get caught up in battle-related things again, especially since Ariel had no strength at the time. It could have caused Ariel to get carried away in a dangerous scenario.

Ariel's heart, though, was slightly stirred; he felt bad. What if the woman was eaten by wild animals in the forest later on? Ariel eventually took the woman with him to the cave where he was currently residing out of a sense of humanism and concern for fellow living beings.

Ariel instantly made a fire with his firewood supply upon entering the cave to warm the woman.

When Ariel saw the woman's form, he understood she was not from one of the six clans in the realm of wonders. Ariel then remembered a prophecy that had been in the country of miracles, which stated that one day there would be a tremendous tragedy that would destroy the land of miracles, and that the world would be reborn with new beings called humans.

"If the disaster is the war against the demon clan, then this is a new world, and this woman is the creature referred to as a human; she looks like an angel clan member when not wearing white wings," Ariel thought to himself.

Time after time, the woman's physical state continued to improve. The woman began to awaken gradually. But when the woman awoke, she attacked Ariel, who was close. The strike caused Ariel's body to bounce fairly far.

"Is this a response to the person who helped you? If you can hit like this, you're better now, so leave!" Ariel told the lady.

Even though he wasn't hurt too badly, Ariel's body was already weak, so the woman's attack hurt him a lot. The woman then looked at his body and saw no signs of abuse. "I'm sorry for what I did earlier. I thought you were a bad person who was taking advantage of my situation," she told Ariel.

The fact that Ariel was only wearing a piece of cloth made the woman think that he was a bad and lewd person. Even though she was still hurt and weak, the woman went up to Ariel to help him get up because she knew she had done something wrong, she was very sorry, and she looked very elegant and beautiful.

But even though it was so beautiful and elegant, Ariel's eyes and heart weren't drawn to it because he still loved Julie.

"Excuse my rudeness, and thank you for helping me. My name is Zhishu. The woman asked, "Can you tell me what this master helper's name is?"

Ariel answered the question because he didn't think he was hiding anything important.

"My name is Ariel," he said in a rather casual way. Ariel still seemed annoyed.

"Does the crow that lives near you have a name, too?" Zhishu's eyes were pointed toward Nero.

Zhishu thought the raven by Ariel was strange because ravens usually don't get along with people.

"Nero is his name." Ariel answered quickly, and Zhishu fell again. Her body was still hurt, so she could not move much.

Ariel replied, "What a troublesome woman."

It seems that the language in this world is not that different from the language in Ariel's earlier world. Ariel starts to wonder if this world really has anything to do with Ariel's previous world. But before Ariel can think too far ahead, Ariel has to take care of the annoying woman first.

Ariel brought Zhishu's body back to rest. Ariel then started cooking dinner with the lizards he had found a few days before. Ariel wanted to eat it right away because he had not been able to go out into the forest to look for food for several days because there were so many wild animals there.

Zhishu woke up again because the smell of the food was so good. She hadn't eaten anything since he was taken to the cave. Then Zhishu tried to stand up, but he seemed too shy to say that she was very hungry at that moment. Until Zhishu could no longer hide the sound of her stomach growling.

"Come here to eat this." Zhishu was invited by Ariel.

Zhishu's body language showed that she was still respectable, but she finally started to move toward Ariel to get the food.

Zhishu said, "Thank you once more."

Zhishu was a little disgusted when she saw that the food she was going to eat was a lizard, but she had to eat it because she was too hungry to stop.

At that time, everyone seemed to really enjoy the food and the warmth of the fire in the dark and humid cave.
