Obatala, the King of the Gods.
The making of a deity who would be the King of Gods and is the King is a mystery that is greatly contested amongst a lot.
Notwithstanding, there is even so little information about how the King of Gods came to be. Or how he got to be about the title.
But there is one thing which is there for a fact. And that is, Obatala is the First Orisha. Not necessarily the first God or the first deity.
Notice the subtle difference between the two of them. An Orisha is not necessarily a Deity. And a Deity may not necessarily be lower than an Orisha. While you may want to get information on why this is so, that would not be the topic for discussion.

Or it was simply because of the joy that he was the second one to be chosen, the first Orisha went to Earth in drunken stupor.He had taken with him some palmwine which was freshly fermented, thereby having high levels of alcohol in it. With his snail shell, the unbreakable chains of gold and the poultry fowl, Obatala was set to get about his assignment.He chose the best spot available that he could find, using it to descend down to Earth. Of course, he still had his horn of palmwine with hm, caught up in the ecstasy of duty.Once he had gone down, he pulled the chain taut and then proceeded to slip down the rest of the chains to Earth. He had the shell and the fowl under his armpit while he used the other free hand to hold onto the chain. His lips being the nearer of the horn, aided by the tight clamping of his dentition on the lid.And then he got to Earth, setting about his duty.Dutifully note that at that time, all about the Earth was full of Water. Hardly was one spot for him to land.
