Fifty One

The drive to summer estate where Jake lived wasn't supposed to be a long one. But the cold and frightful atmosphere in the car made it a long one. An air of uncertainty and dread hung in the air. Even the driver was scared of facing Grandfather Ashley. No one dared stare or even get a glimpse of his face in his anger. The car pulled to a halt and the driver hurriedly opened the door for the angry man. He stepped out and stomped his walking stick so hard on the floor that the driver felt it would break. Grandfather Ashley walked straight to the door and rang the doorbell after which, the door was opened and he was ushered into the house.

From where he stood at the balcony, Jake saw his grandfather's car drive in and also noticed the fury with which the old man stepped down. He knew what was coming and he braced himself up for it.
