CHAPTER 28

Leon’s eyes never left Lena as they walked out of the warehouse, surrounded by the echoes of the battle that had just ended. The adrenaline was still pumping through his veins, but his focus was solely on her. Lena’s face was pale, and her hands trembled slightly as she held onto him, her eyes filled with a mix of relief and terror.

As they reached the safety of the waiting cars, Clara quickly wrapped a blanket around Lena's shoulders. "We need to get her checked out," she said, her voice gentle but urgent. "She’s been through a lot."

"No hospitals," Lena said, her voice shaking. "I just want to go home."

Leon nodded, understanding. "We’ll take you back to a safe house," he said softly. "Somewhere Harper can’t reach you."

"Harper won’t stop, will he?" Lena asked, looking up at Leon, her eyes filled with worry. "He’ll keep coming for you, for all of us."

"Not if I can help it," Leon replied, a cold determination settling over his features. "I have something that Harper wants. It’s time
