CHAPTER 65

The ground shook violently as Marcus’s device triggered a series of explosions beneath the compound. Leon and Haron barely had time to brace themselves before the floor buckled, sending them stumbling as the room was engulfed in chaos. Dust and debris filled the air, choking their lungs and making it impossible to see more than a few feet in front of them.

“Get down!” Haron shouted, diving behind a large wooden table as chunks of ceiling rained down.

Leon barely managed to throw himself behind a toppled bookshelf as the building continued to quake. The deafening sound of metal and concrete tearing apart reverberated through the room, drowning out everything else. It felt like the entire compound was coming down around them.

Through the haze of dust, Leon could just make out Marcus, still standing in the center of the room, a twisted smile on his face. Blood was seeping from the wound Haron had inflicted, but Marcus seemed unaffected, his eyes gleaming with something far more dangerous
