CHAPTER 66

The night air was thick with tension, as Leon and Haron stared at the smoking remains of the compound. Dust settled in the ruins behind them, but neither could shake the feeling that this was only the beginning. The escape of Marcus was a ticking bomb, and they had little time before it exploded in their faces.

Haron glanced at Leon, his expression filled with determination but also concern. "We should regroup," Haron said. "Figure out our next step. Marcus has the advantage now."

Leon ran a hand through his hair, his mind still racing. “He always seems to be two steps ahead. But we’ll catch him.” He paused, eyes narrowing. “This time, we need to be smarter.”

A low hum filled the air, and a sleek black vehicle pulled up from the shadows, its tinted windows glinting under the moonlight. Leon’s heart sank when he recognized it.

“Reinforcements,” Haron said, though the words didn’t carry the relief they should have.
