Land Of Doom

Constantine stood fearfully in place, shivering in trepidation as he saw the approaching sandstorm that carried an unknown danger in it. A feeling of crisis overwhelmed Constantine's senses and he immediately went into a fight-or-flight mode.

A lot of contradictory feelings went through Constantine as he considered whether to wait and see what was coming or abandon all other thoughts and flee, just as Ruger had advised.

Constantine could agree that the main reason why he hadn't run away yet was that he didn't want to do as Ruger said after telling him he didn't need his help. If Constantine was to flee now, then what he had said to Ruger would have no meaning anymore, and it would be nothing more than a joke.

This caused him to hesitate, and he couldn't make up his mind. It was at this point that Ruger's voice sounded once again in his head as he said to him.

"Humph, kids, always so stubborn and prideful for no reason. I wonder which is more important to you. Your pride, or your life? Either way, you'd better make your pick because you're out of time already."

Hearing Ruger's words annoyed Constantine even further, and he was about to retort sharply when suddenly, he noticed that the sandstorm that was heading his way suddenly split at the front.

The sandstorm was still a distance away from Constantine and normally, with its speed, it would reach him in at most a minute. This was another reason why Constantine hesitated to make a move other than because he didn't want to listen to Ruger.

First of all, it was because after looking everywhere around him, Constantine could not find a place in this barren desert to temporarily hide from the sandstorm. Running around in a sandstorm was very dangerous. Most times, the reason people died inside a sandstorm is that they wandered around inside it instead of staying put and they ended up in a dangerous situation, like running into a sinkhole or quicksand in the storm.

At this moment that Constantine didn't know where he was, the best option for him was to stay put instead of running around.

Unfortunately, it seemed like he was not being given much of a choice...

When Constantine looked at the sandstorm, he actually saw the front of it split open and a pack of sprinting creatures was rapidly approaching him.

When Arran saw these creatures, he was overcome by fear. The creatures heading for him resembled a pack of overweight pumped-up wolves with rusty red skin the color of dried blood and sinister and hideous visages that were about two meters tall.

Truthfully, the looks of these creatures were very comical, but Constantine could not bring himself to laugh. He was simply terrified, and the reason was that he recognized those creatures.

They were actually Dooms, the very same creatures that had been terrorizing earth, causing a lot of death and destruction to all.

The moment Constantine recognized these creatures, he didn't need to be told before he turned around and started fleeing for his life.

The Dooms were heading straight for him, so it was clear their target was him.

"Damn it, what the hell is this?"

"What are those creatures doing here? I thought the government already cleared them up and prevented them from passing through to earth, so why the hell are there still dooms around?"

As he ran, Constantine cursed out loud and questioned the reason for dooms appearing and chasing after him.

But Constantine did not have the time to worry about this. His life was currently in danger, and knowing the answer to his questions was not going to help him.

As he ran, Constantine looked behind him occasionally. He could see that the dooms were catching up to him slowly and the distance between them was gradually closing up.

At this moment, Constantine was feeling regretful!

If only he had listened to Ruger's advice when he had first told him to run, he probably wouldn't be in this situation now. The dooms were slowly gaining on him and Constantine could already make out their features clearly from where he was now.

This was Constantine's first time seeing a Doom for himself. Naturally, he already saw recordings of when the dooms invaded earth a long time ago as well as how they fought with the soldiers who resisted their invasion.

While watching those recordings, Constantine already had an idea of how terrifying these creatures were. Don't be fooled by their comical appearance and ballooned figures. These Dooms were very fast and highly destructive.

The Dooms that were usually around two meters in height could be as fast as a race car and have the destructive power of a tank. They were very ferocious and were the main cause of destruction on earth, mainly because of their overwhelming numbers.

Right now, there were more than ten dooms that were two meters in height chasing after Constantine and they would soon catch up to him in a few seconds. When that happened, the chances of Constantine's survival were very slim.

Realizing the danger he was in, Constantine doubled his effort to escape and he frantically pumped energy in his legs to run and increase the distance between himself and the dooms.

Fortunately, Constantine was in very good shape and there was no sign of him tiring any time soon. Although he had been in a coma for a year, when he woke up, Constantine woke up in perfect health and there was no sign of damage on his body at all.

Also, throughout his life, Constantine had been very athletic, and he always kept his body in shape so he knew how best to exert energy in his body to run without tiring himself.

But it was not possible for Constantine to run forever because running, in the end, was not going to save his life. Even if he could keep on running now and prevent the dooms from reaching him, sooner or later, Constantine was going to tire and run out of energy and then he would be unable to even defend himself against the dooms.

Also, Constantine was very aware that right now, the thing that posed the most danger to him were not these two-meter tall Dooms, but the ones still hidden in the fog with only a faint outline to be seen of them.

From their outline, Constantine could tell they were about ten meters in height. those dooms were the most destructive dooms humans had ever encountered and any time they appeared was a literal disaster for the humans on earth.

Right now, there was only one way for Constantine to survive.

Constantine didn't know if this method would work, but he was already out of options, so he could only try.

Unwillingly, Constantine screamed inside his mind, trying to reach the person hidden at the depths of his soul as he asked for help.

"Damn old man, won't you come out and help me? If you don't do anything soon, I'm going to die!"
