Being A Hero

CHAPTER 2

(SUNSHINE CITY)

(DR. ROBERTS LAB)

The team of four (Mark, Mary, Ben, and Dr. Robert) were present. Mary was speaking while others sat listening, she said,

“guys, a thief came to me last night, and it turned out he had some weird super abilities, like elasticity… but I couldn’t see his face”. Ben sighs and replies, “dis his voice sound familiar?”. Mary answered saying, “no, he was able to escape only because I didn’t wanna show my powers”.

Dr Robert cuts in and said, “I think… I think it’s a superhuman like both of you… who’s using his abilities to commit crime to satisfy his needs”. Mary nodded, “that’s possible”, he said.

Their attentions were directed towards the computer on the wall, which was showing a news of people talking about a thief who came into their houses, the headline was,

‘Superhuman Burglar Steals From Homes In A Night’.

They were surprised and the news showed a woman testifying, she said,

“the thief knocked and told me he was my friend at work, but when I opened the door, I saw a masked man… I tried to run in but his hands stretched like rubber and grabbed me… even squeezed me, he stole a lot of things and even my mobile phone”

.

Another man was also testifying, he said, “he broke the door of my house cause he got no reply while knocking, I tried to fight him but his hands got bigger and he knocked me out… when I woke up, a lot of things were missing”.

The news then shows the Captain of the Sunshine City Police Department, addressing the public as he says,

“whoever it is, we’ll find him… it could be the same strange man who calls himself Hero, and it might not… but we’re making this clear to whoever it is, we will find you”.

Mary said to the others, “now they think it’s Mark”. Mark scoffs and replied, “that’s absurd… what’s wrong with the cops?”.

“now you just have to show them you are superheroes and not a thief… capture the elastic thief and hand him over to the cops”. Ben nodded and replies, “yes, exactly that’s what we have to do now”.

“ok, right now?”, Mary asked, while Dr Roberts answers, “yes, right now”. Mark stood up and sped into a room and out of the room again, now dressed as Hero, he said, “so, Miss Awesome are you ready to find that thief?”.

Mary winks and replies, “boom yeah!”

(SUNSHINE CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT - SCPD)

Bethany was clad in a black shirt, and jean trousers, she was in the captain’s office, he said to her,

“Beth, this task will be assigned to you… you will lead the others in order to apprehend that thief, I hope you remember the outfit of that so-called Hero?”. Bethany smiles and replies, “sure, once we see him, we’ll arrest him”.

“the people are counting on us and we have to do our job rightly… make sure find him”, he said, then the assistant of the captain slams the door open saying to the chief, “the thief is robbing the bank right now?” Bethany got up quickly and left the office as well as the assistant chief

(SUNSHINE CITY BANK)

The same thief was at the bank putting on a shiny designer shirt, and his mask. He had a gun in his hand, and another in his pocket, he was packing jewelries into his bag, the people were all laid down and in fear. He yells at them,

“you all have lots of cash but do you ever think about we the poor ones? No, you don’t… now I’ll be rich and I’ll leave this country, last night I wasn’t thinking big enough but now this is it…. The right thing I should be doing”.

He Was about to leave when he was blown backwards by a sudden wind.

Miss Awesome (Mary) came in, she was putting on a grey colored outfit, a top with a jacket on it, and a grey trouser as well, but the lower part of the arm and legs were darker, she had a mask on which covered the eye region. Hero came in next also in his dark outfit.

Cops arrived as well and they entered pointing their guns at Hero, Miss Awesome and the thief.

Hero said to them, “you’re making a mistake; this lady and I are heroes”. Bethany grins and yells, “Quiet! You’re coming with us”. The thief shot at one of the people there but before the bullet could hit the man, Hero moved fast and stopped it with his palm. The elastic thief stretched towards Hero and punched him with a large hand, and then rolled around Hero like a rope squeezing him.

Miss Awesome said to Bethany, “see that now… we’re the heroes”. She jumped forward and punched the thief’s face, the thief threw Hero outside through the glass, he tries to punch Miss Awesome twice but she dodged his attacks.

The thief then stretched his leg to kick her while she fell to the ground. Bethany shot at him but he wasn’t affected then the cops began to shoot continually, but the bullets would only push his skin in and bounced off, falling to the ground.

Hero boosted back into the bank and delivers which sent him flying backwards. The elastic thief hits his back on the wall, then Hero got right in front of him again and delivered a punch on his face causing his mask to be shattered, and also weakening him.

Miss Awesome stood up and said to Hero, “let’s hand him over to the cops”. The thief was breathing heavily and he said while he was being taken away, “I will be back… seems this city now has protectors from people like me”. He escapes the grip pf the cops, but Hero sped towards him and delivers a punch which knocks him out.

He handed him over to Bethany saying,

“we’re superheroes, not thieves… call me Hero… and she’s… Miss Awesome”. Bethany smiles and replies, “I’m Officer Bethany Shaw”.

Hero replies, “yes, we know that already”.

“huh, how?”, Bethany asked looking curious, while Hero answered, “from your news, we’ve seen you on Tv… alright, we have to go”. Miss Awesome added, “and I would advise you cops to get ultrahuman dampeners from Star City to deprive evil ultrahumans like that guy from using their powers, but they don’t work on both of us”. She smiled sheepishly, while she left along with Hero.

As soon as they were gone, Bethany said to herself, “I know that voice… Miss Awesome’s voice sounds familiar”

(AT NIGHT)

It was dark, and in a narrow and deserted pathway, a portal appeared, Moza came though it, but not alone, she was with a lady, it was Nesa. The portal disappeared, Nesa was putting on black metallic outfit similar to Moza’s. She had a medium black hair, packed to the back, she stood right beside Moza, and was a little bit slim.

“keep an eye on Hero, don’t try to outsmart me, because I’ll be watching you”, Moza said to her, while Nesa smiles evilly, and replied, “I wouldn’t dare disobey the king’s orders for my mother’s advice… I love my life, so, tell me… will you kill him?”. Moza answered saying, “probably…”

(SUNSHINE CITY)

(CAFETERIA)

A guy in his early 20s, he had a brown hair, brushed to one side, his face was wanting of beard, and was putting on a black jacket, and black trousers. He entered having a broad smile on his face, then he saw a guy and lady having an argument while a hooded guy was watching them closely as well.

The guy who just came in was called by one of the attendants, “Kyle, staring at them? I’ve gotten tired of their lame arguments”. The hooded guy walked past them, mistakenly hitting the lady, and he quickly apologized, “I’m sorry”, he said. He was leaving the restaurant when Kyle yelled, “that guy’s a thief!”. The lady was about to bring out something from her pocket and she was surprised it was empty, everyone was amazed and Kyle rushed outside and saw the guy walking fast, then he calls out to him, “Hey! Wait up!”. The guy turns back and saw Kyle walking towards him then he began to run from Kyle while Kyle grins and chased after him.

The guy kept running and pushing people out of the way and jumping over obstacles in his way, but Kyle wasn’t going to relent anytime soon, he continues chasing after the thief till he got to a corner, a silent place where no one was. Kyle was panting heavily, and he stretched forth his hand saying, “hand it over”. The thief smiles and replied, “not without a fight” Kyle sighs and clenched his fist and poses like a professional boxer saying, “Really? I’ll paint your face red”. The guy chuckles and sniffles saying “alright, show me what you’ve got”

(MARK’S HOUSE)

Mark was making a call with Bethany as he was smiling, he said, “I can’t wait to take you out tonight, I feel like coming right there to pick you up and have a nice time together”. Bethany replies over the phone saying, “oh that’s sweet, I’ll make sure I leave as early as possible… just for you” Mark chuckles and then he heard a knock on the door, so he said to Bethany, “we’ll talk latter, I love you babe…”. He hangs up and asked,

“who’s there?... I said who’s there?”. Then he got a reply from a male voice, “it’s a friend of yours, Mark, is that you? Please open the door”. Mark opened the door, and behold, it was Moza. Then he asks, “do I know you?”. Moza replied saying, “no, but I know you… and I’ve come to meet you”

Kyle yells as he charged towards the thief about to deliver a punch to his jaw but he blocks his attack and punched Kyle’s torso instead, then kicks his leg really hard, causing him to yell in pain and fall to the ground. The thief walks towards him and kicks Kyle’s stomach, Kyle groans and coughs while the thief began to laugh, then he said, “wanna save the day like a hero? I won’t spare you for stressing me”.

The thief was suddenly blown backwards by the wind causing him to hit his back on the wall and also fell to the ground. It was Miss Awesome who just arrived, she said as she walked slowly,

“now hand over whatever you stole”. The thief chuckles and got up same time Kyle stood up. The thief smiles and replied, “you’ll never get it from me”. Miss Awesome sighs shaking her head, and said, “I don’t wanna beat you up… you’re just a petty pickpocket”.

The thief replied “petty pickpocket indeed!”. He closed his eyes and to their surprise, he levitates and his hands was engulfed in green energy substances which he shot at them but Miss Awesome pushed Kyle out of the way and took the hit, only for her to be pushed back and she also fall unconscious, while the thief was gone. Kyle rushed towards Miss Awesome and her mask had fallen from her face to the ground, he looked at her closely and said to himself quietly, “this is Mary… she’s Miss Awesome?”

Mark was seated, as well as Moza. Mark scoffs and said,

“so, what you’re trying to tell me is that… you’re not human? Are you here to joke with me? even if you were really an alien, do I look like an alien language translator”. Moza replies, “Mark aka. Hero, Bethany Shaw’s boyfriend (Mark looks surprised) Your Parents were murdered by Johnny Tony, look I’m also a superhero like you on my planet and we even have same powers, but there’s a great threat I can’t face alone, so I’ve come to seek for help”.

Mark looks confused and he replied “I don’t believe all these you’re saying… except you prove it to me”. Moza replied, “alright”. He clicked a device that looked like a wrist watch and it showed a hologram of Planet Hulton and its’ location in the universe”. Mark said to himself, “so it’s really true, aliens are real…”. Moza replied saying, “just say other beings exist across the multiverse, to us you’re aliens… so as for my powers, let me show you”

(DR ROBERTS LAB)

Ben and Dr. Robert were there, both busy with different things and Ben asked “why isn’t Mary back yet?”. Dr Robert replied, “she could have gone somewhere else again”.

“speaking of going somewhere, I’ll be travelling soon, I told her but the date isn’t fixed yet”, Ben said, then the door slammed open as Kyle came in with Miss Awesome on his back then Ben and Dr Robert rushed to her quickly to attend to her.

While Dr Robert took her in, Ben asked Kyle, “who are you and how did you find her, what happened exactly”. Kyle answers, “I’m Kyle, she saved my life and it turns out I know her, she managed to whisper into my ear to bring her here and that’s what I just did”.
