The Aftermath
Hey Linda, Mr. Paul chased after his wife who ran out of the room quickly, while everyone looked on, it wasn’t their business even if it were a family matter this was just between them.
Well Dr. Arshad, did you see how Mr. Klay managed to do it? Dr. Amelia asked him. Dr. Arshad looked at her and smiled well guess I can tell you but when I am writing my report, I would mention that you were present when the session was ongoing and you also participated. You know you can’t have your cake and eat it, so what is going to be? He asked smiling, he knew curiosity would get the best of her.
Must you make me say it? you know I want to know why you have been hard to get the asked okay to make things right I will read over your thesis for your third book the one you are about to publish. please Dr. Amelia pleaded with him.
“Okay I will tell you during the lunch break but we would trade shifts agreed?” he looked at her with a grin on his face.” Okay, we will but just for a day only. So how did he do it?” Dr. Amelia kept bugging him.
“I promise I will tell you later, but not now I feel Dr. Suess is trying to overhear our discussion and I will be damned if he did. He thought he could trick me into running useless errands, while he performed his so-called secret technique so that I wouldn’t see it, well jokes on him” he laughed gently.
Mr. Bryce tried walking away when nobody's attention was on him, hitting Kathleen mistakenly which sent her falling on the floor. The whole family turned around and everybody knew hell was about to break loose. Kathleen stood up with anger and furiously expressed herself.
“Why are you still here you and you're useless so-called best doctor in the country, after you tried to kill my grandmother with your little knowledge of medicine” she shouted drawing all sorts of attention to the ward.
“I did try my best and brought the best doctor in the country, is it my fault he made a mistake? what did I do wrong tell me?” he asked Kathleen almost pleading to arrange his jacket while standing up.
Kathleen despite being angry knew he didn’t do anything wrong, he just tried his best in calling the doctor who came and the mistake made by the doctor wasn’t something he could control yet she couldn’t still bring her mind to accept his apology. She decided to spin it around to her favor now. She decided to use this opportunity to warn him from ever coming close to her again while she still supports her side due to the situation.
“Mr. Bryce and Dr. Suess please you can kindly get the hell out of here, you are no longer welcome here and as for you Mr. Bryce,” she said with much scorn in her voice it could be seen by everyone in the room the amount of bad blood in between.
“I don’t want to ever see you anywhere near me or else” she thundered. Dr. Suess didn’t much warning quickly but quietly sneaked out of the room, followed by Mr. Bryce who didn’t cooperate fully. He still thought it wasn’t his fault and wanted everybody to have a piece of his mind but Mr. Paul stepped in and frightened him with his huge frame.
Getting the message, he followed Dr. Suess out of the room, while Mr. Paul held the door wide so he could leave. As soon as he left, he was joined by Dr. Amelia and Dr. Arshad who were discussing in hushed tones as they left. Dr. Arshad turned around and looked at Mr. Klay now and simply nodded in his direction which he saw and understood. Sometimes actions do speak louder than words, then they left.
Mr. Paul closed the door and moved towards Klay now, at first, he couldn’t bring himself to speak out about what the family might think or say but he had to set the precedent well that he still had people that didn’t support the way he is been treated by the rest in the family.
Klay noticed his weird movement but didn’t know what to expect, in all these years Mr. Paul haven’t even talked to him, he was a very quiet man who didn’t socialize much except when golfing. Mr. Paul now got very close to him without saying a word, a minute gone and another going by it began to become very uncomfortable.
Klay decided to break the silence,” hey Paul how are you doing? he asked wanting to stretch out his hands in a handshake but was scared of disappointment a bit so he didn’t. Are you alright you are looking white what’s going on he now turned away from the glass window and looked at him now?”
“I am quite good; it’s just been a tough day lots of ups and down but we are getting there. I just wanted to thank you for what you did here today for Kathleen’s grandmom. I appreciate it after all she is my wife’s grandmother too. I knew nobody else in the family would swallow their pride to apologize to you or even thank you here so let me be the one that will do it for them. I am not saying you should forgive and forget what you had to endure all these years but as of this moment, I am glad you didn’t allow it to affect your judgment. So klay thank you for saving her life” then embraced him much to the surprise of everyone in the room.
“Klay before you let go, I have something to say to you, Manila golf club by 4:30 pm on Saturday come with your golf shoes and another thing try and meet Kathleen I have a feeling she wants to talk to you” he whispered quickly and withdrew from the embrace and walked away.
In an office far away, the telephone rang and the operator put the call on speaker.
“Yes, John how can I help you?” a feminine voice spoke from the shadows of her office in between smokes. “I have gotten the contact information of the person you asked me to find and I have sent it to you to your email address ma and that would be all”. “Thank you John I will see to it that you will be compensated very well.”
she ended the call and smiled.Who are you?It was a fine morning, which the radiant sun blazed the sky in its golden touch, passing through the foliage.
