Chapter 3

The two of them glared at Jason. They got even angrier when they didn't find any policemen, and it was just Jason's ploy to stop them from hitting the old man.

"Who are you?" asked one of them.

"I am a nobody! But I won't let people like you torture old people like this," Jason replied.

The two burly men laughed.

Bugs! Bugs!

Without warning, the two men attacked Jason brutally. With a little martial arts training, Jason fights the two men. It wasn't easy for Jason to beat them; even the corners of Jason's lips were injured from the attacks of the two men. However, Jason finally managed to defeat them and repel both of them.

"Get out of here! And don't come back again!" drive Jason away angrily.

Jason helped the grandfather stand up and carried him into the rickety house. The grandfather lived alone.

Jason began to help care for grandfather's weak body. With the ability that he had attended first aid training at his college before, Jason began to clean the blood on the corner of grandfather's lips when Jason examined his teeth until they fell out because of the rough treatment of the two people earlier.

Jason felt that Grandpa's condition was really bad, so he looked for the doctor closest to Grandpa's house and invited him to check on Grandpa's condition. With the little money left, he paid for the grandfather's medical expenses. So now Jason really doesn't have a penny. It didn't matter to him; the most important thing now was that he had to save the old man.

The two people turned out to be messengers from a man named Addison, who was none other than the grandpa's son. He asked for a certificate of property owned by the grandfather.

Jason just shook his head because he thought the grandpa's son was really cruel. Grandpa, who lives in a shabby house, starts to decrepit. His son still wanted to drain his wealth, and Jason was sure that the grandfather's only treasure was a house that was almost collapsing.

"What's your name, son?" asked the weak grandfather.

"Jason, Grandpa."

Jason introduced himself, and for some reason he later explained why he came to this city: he was told by his father to look for someone named Dagfinn.

While his grandfather was in a weak condition, he only nodded and watched Jason from head to toe.

"Where is Eadric now?" asked the grandfather, mentioning the name of his father, Jason.

Jason was surprised to find that the grandfather knew his father.

"Grandfather knew my father?" asked Jason curiously.

The old man just nodded and tried to smile as he stared into Jason's eyes. He then told me that they were old friends. Incidentally, which is God's destiny, the grandfather who was helped by Jason turned out to be Dagfinn, the person he was looking for.

"Father passed away, Grandpa, one year ago," Jason replied, looking down.

"Before he died, he left a message for me to look for my grandfather in this city," continued Jason.

With a weak body, Grandpa Dagfinn hugged Jason's body tightly. Even he sobbed.

"I'm sorry," Dagfinn's grandfather said many times, which made Jason even more confused by Dagfinn's grandfather's apology.

Until a few days later, Jason took care of Dagfinn's grandfather and came to live with him. Jason realized he didn't have any more money. His current treasure is just a simple cell phone. Jason wasn't sure if he should sell his phone or what. Because she couldn't stay at Dagfinn's grandfather's house forever either.

"Grandpa, Jason said goodbye today, Grandpa. Jason wants to find a job," Jason said after Dagfinn's grandfather's condition had really improved.

Finally, Dagfinn's grandfather was unable to persuade Jason to stay with him, even though Dagfinn repeatedly tried to persuade Jason to stay. But Jason refused. He didn't want to be a burden to Dagfinn, who was also old.

Jason promised in his heart that he would still help Grandpa Dagfinn, and he would come often to make sure Grandpa was okay. and now he needs a job that can make him a living.

After leaving Dagfinn's house, Jason chose to apply for jobs that pay immediately so he could eat. As for where to live, Jason chooses wherever it is important not to get wet and flooded. He has experienced his adoptive father living in slum houses and even cardboard houses for decades.

Jason arrived at a traditional market, hoping that one of the stores would accept him.

"I want to apply for a job; can it be anything?" Jason asked the owner of a very large and busiest grocery store in the market.

After paying attention to Jason's appearance for a while, the shop owner finally accepted Jason to become a porter in his shop, whose job was to carry the store's goods to consumers or wherever the boss requested. He worked freelance daily, so he could get paid immediately to make a living. Every afternoon, Jason would get paid thirty thousand.

Tonight Jason rested his body in a small flat room located behind the market, which he rented daily as a place to rest his body from the tiredness of working all day. He missed Esme, but every time he called, Esme's number was always off. And Jason was sure that Esme's cellphone would have been confiscated by Damien.

"I hope you are doing well, Esme. Right now, I can't afford to come pick you up," Jason muttered to himself as his eyes closed in the middle of the night.

The harsh life has trained Jason to be able to adapt wherever he is. After only a few days of working in the market, Jason already knows so many fellow scavengers in the market. A market where there are many opportunities for crimes to occur, including when a luxury car was mined by thugs. I do not know what the purpose of the luxury car that crossed the traditional market was.

A man who Jason knew very well got out of the car; his car tire burst, and he did not realize it was the intention of the market thugs to destroy the victims' property, with the mode of helping to replace the car's tire with a spare tire.

The man who owns the luxury car is Damien, his father-in-law. And at that time, several thugs began to launch their actions towards Damien.

Jason couldn't let this happen, and this time again he came closer and shouted to stop the thugs from looting Damien's property.

"Hey you guys, stop!" he shouted.
