Chapter 5

"What kind of joke is this?" muttered Jason as he read the message.

Jason still looked confused, but a smile appeared on his face. He knows this world is getting more sophisticated. Even the impostor does not discriminate in his intentions.

"He doesn't know that his target is poorer than them," chuckled Jason as he turned off his cellphone screen and put the simple cellphone into his trouser pocket.

He was about to continue his work, finishing up by lifting a few more sacks of rice. Jason hopes that this job will be finished quickly; his shoulders and hands feel so numb, and it's like he can't finish this job. Lifting tens of sacks of rice, which was only done by the three of them.

"Huft, finally finished," Jason muttered as he finished lifting the last sack.

He will soon give his body the right to rest. Waiting for the afternoon, they will usually lie down on a bamboo bed provided by the shop owner next to the shop under a cherry tree. They usually enjoy drinks and food provided by the shop owner.

Jason just threw his body in the bamboo bale, and again, his cell phone rang. Jason seemed to be looking for a cell phone in his trouser pocket before he wiped his hands, which looked dirty.

When looking at his cellphone screen, Jason frowned because the number was calling him again.

"Actually, who is he?" muttered Jason as he downed his glass of drink.

Jason looked at the screen of his cell phone, hesitating whether to answer or ignore it.

"Does it have to be answered?" Jason asked, confused, while scratching his head, which looked wet with sweat.

By steadying his heart, Jason finally answered the call. Because who knows it is an important phone?

"With Jason Maierer?" asked the soft voice on the other end of the phone, who immediately asked without waiting for Jason to say hello.

"Yeah, with whom?" asked Tama, surprised.

The voice on the other end of the phone sounded very soft, and Jason seemed to pinch his arm for fear of being hypnotized, even though he had no property and even though the person wanted to hypnotize him.

"Introducing me, Ainsley, secretary of Dalton Corp.," said the voice.

"Hmmm," Jason replied as he heard Dalton's name again. I don't know what joke the woman named Ainsley is playing with Dalton Corp.

"You are expected to come to the office immediately tomorrow; at nine o'clock I will wait in my room," said Ainsley.

"Why should I come there?" Jason asked probingly because he was surprised that he was again asked to come to Dalton. Even though he never worked there.

"Since you're the current leader of Dalton, it's been almost two weeks that the chair of Dalton's leadership has been vacant," Ainsley explained.

Jason seemed to frown. He didn't understand what the woman named Ainsley said in a soft voice.

"You know Mr. Dagfinn, right?" asked Ainsley a few moments later because Jason was still silent with the cellphone pressed to his ear.

Jason was even more surprised when Ainsley even mentioned the name of the old man who he saved a few days ago from the cruelty of these thick-muscled men.

"I know," Jason answered slowly.

"Dalton is his company, and he entrusts the leadership to you. We're sorry we just contacted you because we just managed to get your cellphone number," explained Ainsley.

Jason was a little surprised when he heard Ainsley's explanation.

"Sorry, if you want to cheat or want to joke, don't be with me; I don't have anything that you can drain," explained Jason, annoyed.

Because, according to him, now is not the right time to play around.

"I'm serious; before he died, Mr. Dagfinn gave a will for the future of Dalton. And to be clearer about this matter, I'll be waiting tomorrow at Dalton's office!"

Tut!

After saying that, Ainsley hung up the phone. While Jason still looked confused. He couldn't believe what Ainsley was saying.

"Grandfather Dagfinn is dead? I'd better go to his house this afternoon. Let me know what happened to him," Jason muttered to himself as he put his cell phone back.

At night, Jason kept trying to close his eyes; even late into the middle of the night, he couldn't close his eyes.

Jason couldn't sleep well. His mind was focused on Esme, who had not given him any news until this morning.

And today, because of his frustration with Damien's family, Jason finally decided to accept Ainsley's offer, asking him to come to Dalton Corp.

"What's wrong with me trying? Hopefully there will really be job openings available for me. Whatever I want to be, I'll accept it, as long as there's a permanent job. And I can pick up Esme," Jason said quietly while tidying up the existing clothes, which he would use for the Daltons company.

According to Jason, what was wrong with him trying to trust Ainsley? Because last night he had been looking for information about Dalton, and it turned out that it was a company engaged in tours and travel and was currently venturing into the restaurant business. And it was written there that the name of the owner of Dalton was Dagfinn Dalton, which turned out to be the person Jason had helped a few days ago. And it turns out that Dalton stands for Dagfinn Tours.

"Unfortunately, Dagfinn's grandpa is gone, so I can't tell if this is serious or a prank," muttered Jason.

Jason was looking at himself in front of a small mirror that he found in the garbage box in front of the shop where he worked. You can see a face that looks wrinkled and dull there. You can even see black eyelids because every night you can't sleep thinking about your wife being forced apart.

"Ainsley asked for nine o'clock; I'd better be going there soon. From the folder I have, it looks like I have enough money to take a motorcycle taxi. I hope God will be with me," Jason said to himself.

And here is Jason this morning in front of the checkpoint to get into Dalton's office.

"Sorry, unauthorized entry is prohibited!" said a security guard, stopping Jason's footsteps in front of the Dalton Corp.

While the other security guard seemed to hold back his laughter when he saw Jason, I don't know what's funny enough to make him laugh. Jason felt a little embarrassed by the two security guards.

"I want to see Miss Ainsley!" Jason answered firmly.

The security guard, who had been holding back his laughter since earlier, finally chuckled.

"How can Mrs. Ainsley want to meet someone who is stressed?" Can't you see your own appearance?"

"We wear neat clothes, and you wear flip-flops! This is not good manners, let alone visiting," explained the security guard, laughing.

Jason saw his own appearance, and to him, it was normal. He has no shoes. His shoes were all left at Damien's family house. So, today Jason can only wear flip-flops.

"Have you made an appointment with Miss Ainsley?" asked the security guard again.

"No. But he asked me to come here today," explained Jason.

The two security guards laughed. They did not believe what Jason said.

"Since when did Mrs. Ainsley know the trash and come here impolitely? Has Mrs. Ainsley tired of her classy association?" said one of the security guards, who was greeted with laughter by his colleagues.

They chuckled while looking at Jason's appearance with the corners of his eyes; they thought Jason was just pretending to be acquainted with the beautiful Ainsley.

"Don't be kidding, you better get out of here; Mrs. Ainsley is busy; she doesn't have time to serve people like you," explained the security guard, waving his hand as a sign asking Jason to leave.

Seeing Jason's appearance in flip-flops made the security guard not believe he had any business with Ainsley. So that makes security make fun of and insult Jason.

"I don't want to argue; I'm going to see Miss Ainsley!" Jason said it angrily. Jason's eyes widened and reddened with anger.

The two security men still didn't let Jason in.

"Ms. Ainsley never wants to meet random people, especially people like you who are crazy like this," replied the security guard.

"And you better leave this office; we still have a lot of other work," said both of them to Jason.
