Chapter 1

"This is your salary. You don't have to come tomorrow."

Hearing these mocking words from the human resource development who called him made Nelson round his eyes in surprise.

"What do you mean, Mr. Van? I know that my sales target still needs to be met this month, but this is the first time I've done that. I've been working here for two years, and you just fired me?"

Hearing the rebuttal from Nelson, the man called Van could only laugh mockingly.

"Nelson, oh Nelson, now is not your place to complain. Get out and get your stuff, or do you want security to kick you out?" Van said, making Nelson feel even more angry.

"You!" Nelson, who had already lost his temper, immediately tried to throw his punches at Van.

Van shouted while trying to avoid Nelson's punches. "Security!"

The security that was called came quickly, making Nelson unable to finish off the human resources development who had treated him arbitrarily.

"Let me go!" Nelson shouted, trying to free himself from the grip of the two security guards holding him down.

"You're so pathetic, Nelson." Van gave Nelson a small smack on his face, which was already red from the emotion of being fired over a trivial matter.

"What are you waiting for? Get this asshole out, and you, Nelson, your bad attitude will make you regret it, and I won't write you a letter of recommendation, and yes, one more thing, I will make sure no company in this town will accept a loser like you!"

"Let go of me!" Nelson, struggling with all his might, finally broke free from the two guards holding him down. The man turned back to Nelson.

"You two don't need to pull me out, I can get out of here by myself, but first, I want to ask this asshole a question!" Nelson said coldly, the anger in his eyes already flared up quickly.

Hearing Nelson's words, Van could only laugh amusedly. He knew that a man with a pot belly and thick glasses like Nelson was a weak man who would not dare to do anything dangerous to him.

Hearing Van's scornful voice, Nelson clenched his fists even tighter. "What did I do wrong to you? We didn't have any problems in the first place, and I wasn't the only one whose monthly target wasn't met, but why did you fire me?"

"You want to know the answer?" asked Van as he folded his arms across his chest. "Well, I'll answer it because I'm afraid you'll die in the confusion." Again and again, Van laughed, which made Nelson feel even more insulted.

"Answer my question, asshole!" shouted Nelson, who could no longer stand Van's attitude.

"Hey, watch your tone! You're just an idiot who doesn't know how the world works, and you guys, take this disgusting man away, and please make sure to mop every place he's been. His footprints are despicable!" Annoyed by Nelson's yelling, Van immediately angrily threw Nelson out viciously.

"Damn it, let me go, asshole!" Nelson shouted constantly as he was dragged and forced out of the office without being able to retrieve his belongings. Nelson had only managed to collect his last paycheck.

"You guys!" raged Nelson as he was pushed out of the office onto the floor.

"Nelson, you are a good man but too naive." A man suddenly arrived with a stack of boxes. The man then placed the boxes in front of Nelson.

"Max, have you also turned against me?" Nelson said incredulously, looking at the coworker he had considered his friend.

"I haven't changed, and since the beginning of our relationship, I am neutral. You need to understand that power rules everything. Let me give you a little advice. You'd better get home early before-"

"Before what?" asked Nelson, quickly interrupting Max.

Hearing Nelson's interruption, Max could only stare at the man with a pitying look.

"It wouldn't be much fun if I told you what happened. Wouldn't a smart guy like you rather find out the answers for himself? So I suggest you go home early to find the answers sooner." Max said casually and turned around to enter the office, ignoring Nelson again.

"Max, wait, answer my question first!" Nelson interrupted, but Max had already left, and the security guard guarding the door wouldn't let Nelson back into the office.

"Ah, damn it!" cursed Nelson angrily, all his emotions out of control.

"Why does it have to rain at a time like this?" asked Nelson to no one in particular. The sudden rain drenched him, and Nelson quickly carried the cardboard box Max had given him with him to his car.

In a state of upset, confusion, and emotion, Nelson drove his car fast. The vehicle typically traveled very slowly, but the man no longer cared about traffic signs in Nelson's unstable emotional state.

"Why are all my plans falling apart like this?" said Nelson in a low tone. The man was now grabbing his hair in anger, and by this time, he was already in the parking lot of his apartment.

"Control yourself, Nelson, don't be like this. Remember that you're home, and Laura can't see you like this." Nelson tried to reassure himself after accidentally looking at his cell phone screen, which displayed his wife's beautiful face.

"Breathe, Nelson, breathe it out." Nelson tried to control himself.

After a while, when his emotions had subsided, Nelson decided to tidy up his appearance because his wife didn't like his messy appearance.

Once he looked presentable enough, Nelson exited his car and walked straight to the elevator to the 7th floor, where his apartment was located.

"Hey, Nelson, did you just get home? Then who was that guy in your apartment with your wife?" an elderly man greeted Nelson as Nelson passed the man in front of the elevator, and the two collided.

"That's right, I just got home, uncle; looks like you've got the wrong person." Nelson tried to smile kindly, the man not realizing that something had been lost on him without him realizing it.

"Maybe I just remembered wrong. Never mind, my wife is waiting in front!" The older man quickly entered the elevator and pressed the button to go down.

Nelson, who had begun to think badly of the older man's words, did not realize that his pockets were now empty. He was only thinking about who his wife was with without noticing that his treasures had disappeared without him realizing it.

As he got closer to his apartment unit, Nelson felt his heart grow fonder as he saw the door to his apartment slightly ajar.

Nelson's steps grew slower, but the man's hearing grew sharper. "Ah, not here." Nelson heard a woman's voice sigh, and he was sure it was his wife's.

"No, Laura wouldn't do that. Maybe it was her friend, just maybe." Nelson tried to think positively and reassure himself.

Unable to stand the strange sounds that were getting more exciting in his apartment, Nelson decided to kick the door spontaneously.

Deg...

Nelson's heart skipped a beat when he saw the scene before him.

"What are you doing!" Nelson snapped with emotion.
