Divorce

"I am fired?" Caleb repeated scornfully.

Henry shifted back as Caleb walked menacingly toward him.

Even Jenny was shocked at the new Caleb that she was witnessing.

The Caleb she knew had always been gentle and loving towards her, so seeing him like this was a new side that she never thought she would experience.

Certain circumstances truly reveal a man's true nature, she thought to herself.

"Why are you getting close to me? you son of a nobody!" Henry screamed at Caleb.

Caleb ignored the warning and came closer to Henry with a snickering look on his face.

"You have just signed your death warrant!" Caleb threatened.

Caleb turned back to look at Jenny and walked back to her with the same mocking smile.

"It's a pity that you don't know what you have just lost, you have made the worst decision of your life by cheating on me." Caleb mocked.

Jenny who was taken aback by what Caleb had said to her raised her hand and gave Caleb a dirty slap on his left cheek.

She was furious with the way Caleb mocked her and the look he was giving her was making her feel like a dirty person so reacting by slapping Caleb was a move she made in self-defence.

"You shameless man, you still have the guts to talk after I suffered with you for one year!" Jenny retorted.

"Suffered? Jenny, you knew from the start that I was not rich yet you agreed to stand by me through thick and thin." Caleb replied to Jenny reminding her of her promises to him before they got married.

Jenny scoffed and flicked her hair with her hand while giving Caleb a condescending look.

"Caleb tell me, when has anything been thick since I got married to you? Just imagine, for the past three months, I have been asking you to get me a common necklace, and still yet, I got nothing from you! Are you that poor!" Jenny retorted hotly.

"Jenny, I had been saving my salary for the past three months so I would be able to get it I finally went to get it today but I was told that someone already bought the second one today!" Caleb explained in his defense.

"Can you hear yourself speak? It took you three months to be able to get money to buy an ordinary necklace that real men take just a minute to get, you are indeed pathetic!" Jenny insulted Caleb.

Caleb was about to explain that he planned on going to meet the person who bought the second necklace to plead with the person to sell it for him when Henry interrupted.

"Yes you are right Jenny, only real men can afford that necklace within a twinkle of an eye and that real man is me!" Henry said as he brought out a small box from the drawer.

Jenny's eyes widened in shock and expectation.

From the look of the box, it was obvious that it was a jewelry box.

Nobody had to tell her that it was the necklace she had asked Caleb to buy for her that he had been unable to afford.

When Jenny noticed that Caleb was taking too long to get the necklace for her, she told Henry about it.

Henry promised to get it for her if she agreed to let Caleb know about their illicit affair and she had agreed.

Due to the confrontation she was having with Caleb, she had forgotten that Henry had promised to give her the necklace in the presence of Caleb.

Henry walked towards her and opened the box and Jenny gasped in fascination.

"It's even more beautiful physically than in the magazines!" She said gushing in joy.

"And sophisticated also which was specially designed for a sophisticated woman of class and standards," Henry said sweetly as he took out the necklace and placed it on Jenny's neck.

Jenny could barely breathe due to too much excitement.

She quickly rushed to the mirror and admired herself.

She brought out her phone and started taking pictures of herself so she would post them later on her social media handle.

"Now, that's how a real man takes care of a classy woman," Henry said mockingly to Caleb.

Caleb stood transfixed on the spot where he was standing.

Henry thought that Caleb was speechless due to shame that he could buy what Caleb had been using for three months to save up, but that was not the case.

There was something wrong somewhere.

The necklace was only produced in two pairs and everyone knew that it was an Arab multi-billionaire that had bought the first one.

The shop had given him the name of the person who had bought the second one and it was not Henry.

"Was there a mix-up somewhere or had Henry bought the necklace anonymously?" Caleb asked himself.

Caleb came to two conclusions, it was either the sales boy had given him the wrong name or Henry had bought a fake one to impress Jenny.

Caleb was about to voice out his reservations about the necklace when Jenny slowly walked up to him.

"You know Caleb, I had wanted to do this when I get back home, but I think there is no need to delay the inevitable. So I will tell you now, we are getting a divorce!" Jenny announced.
