No love

Caleb had been expecting Jenny to come up with that suggestion after he heard Caleb refer to him as her ex-husband but it still hit him hard to hear her say it.

"Jenny why?" He asked her surprised.

"I cannot settle for an ordinary man like you when I can get an extraordinary man like Henry, I'm done suffering with you." Jenny answered.

"But I thought you said you loved me and would gladly spend the rest of your life with me!" Caleb said.

Caleb was genuinely in love with Jenny, even after seeing her with his boss, he was still ready to forgive her if she asked for his forgiveness.

And if she did not ask for his forgiveness, he would still gladly forgive her and try to make up for his lapses.

That was how much he was stupidly in love with her.

"Love? Caleb, did you just say love?" Jenny asked scornfully.

"Yes, I said love," Caleb repeated like an idiot which caused Henry to laugh at him in a mocking tone.

"Caleb, don't be delusional, I never loved you," Jenny confessed.

"What? What is this nonsense you are saying?" Caleb asked as he felt his heart-shattering.

"You heard me right, Caleb Maxwell, I never loved you!" Jenny repeated without compassion.

"Then, why did you agree to marry me?" Caleb asked her although he was dreading her reply he still wanted to hear what she had to say.

"I only agreed to marry you because I wanted to use you," Jenny answered thoughtlessly.

"Use me? How?" Caleb asked her.

"Look Caleb, you are stressing my mental health with all these unnecessary questions but I will tell you," Jenny said she paused.

She walked a bit closer to Caleb and smiled ruefully.

"I knew you had potential, though to be honest, I agreed to date you out of pity and gratitude for the way you assisted me out of the embarrassing situation I was in the day we first met." Jenny confessed.

"Jenny!" Caleb was speechless.

"I never had any feeling of love for you, I dated you out of pity." Jenny confessed without any remorse.

Caleb held his chest in pain.

It was as if a thousand needles were piercing his heart repeatedly at the same time.

He looked at Jenny in pain as his mind traveled down memory lane to when he first met her.

That particular day, he had gone to the shopping mall to get some groceries.

He had stopped in his tracks when he first saw Jenny and he felt like he was suddenly out of breath at the sight of her beautiful face.

Jenny had walked past him like he did not exist as she carried on with her shopping.

He wanted to approach her but she looked way out of his league so he decided to watch her from afar.

The opportunity to be the perfect Knight in shining armor who came to save the damsel in distress came when he got to the counter to pay for his stuff.

He noticed Jenny already there but she was having difficulties in paying as her card kept declining.

Caleb saw this as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and he quickly paid for her.

He had just been paid his salary for that month so he had enough money in his account.

The things she bought were much and expensive and left his account bleeding, he did not mind as her giving him her number was enough compensation.

After that encounter, he started talking to her on the phone regularly.

She was distant at first, he kept on communicating with her and with time, she started warming up to him.

It wasn't long before he asked her out.

She had refused at first saying she only wanted them to remain friends but he persisted and she later gave in.

The day she agreed to date him was the happiest day of his life and he made sure she never regretted it because he always helped her in whatever he could to grow her company.

When she had agreed to marry him, he had foolishly thought that the feelings were mutual but now, he realized painfully that while it was all love to him, for her, it was just pity.

"Then why did you agree to marry me?" Caleb asked her in pain.

"Simple! It was because I never wanted to lose the support I was getting from you to grow my company, my company is growing well so I no longer need you." Jenny answered.

She walked up to Henry and hugged him tight before giving him a passionate kiss on the lip.

Caleb felt revolted at the sight that was displayed before him.

He looked at Henry and Jenny.

He was never going to forget what they had done to him neither was he ever going to forgive them.

He felt pity for them because of what he was going to do to them when he finally returned to his real identity.

"I will make sure that you both pay for this!" Caleb vowed as he walked out of the hotel room.
