Night fell and Mia had been locked up in one of the holding cells; sitting quietly to herself in the corner with her arms wrapped around her body whilst trying not to panic about what was going to become of her. The night was quiet and there was a bright full moon in the dark sky; she could see its blue light come in through the small barred window that looked out into the ocean.
The cell was small; and its walls were rough and cold; she needed a blanket, a small fire would do too but she had none, all she had to keep her warm was her dress and it wasn't doing a very good job, what a long night it was going to be?
Just then the main gate to the holding cells was unlocked and swung open and a moment later someone walked into Mia's sight; the sight of him immediately causing her heart to do that thing it always did when she laid her eyes upon her lover. It wasn't her lover but it was a perfect replica of him and that was more than close enough. And the way he looked with the moonlight falling upon him and shining in his crystal blue eyes, her soul had no other choice but to fall to its knees. In his eyes was exactly what she saw in Peter's eyes which was all of her dreams come true, her home sweet home and she wished so bad that she could just get up and have him hold her in his arms because in his arms was where she felt the most safe; it was in his arms that she was assured that no matter what was going on everything was going to be o.k. and she needed some of that in that moment because her fate was to be hung and she was the most scared she had ever been in her entire life. Being transported to another time was one thing but dying there via being hung was something else and it had Mia shaken. Galagus brought her back to do something and nowhere did he mention anything about her dying; if he had she probably would have said no, so what was going on? It was rough enough that the possible destruction of the earth was lying on her and now this, she felt like just closing her eyes and wishing herself literally anywhere else. Capt. Jules's boldness was still with her but it wasn't enough to keep her from trembling, because at the end of the day she was still just Mia and what Mia wanted in that moment was something she couldn't have. She wanted to not be afraid anymore and the warm embrace of her lover's arms was powerful enough to take that fear away but that wasn't going to happen because again that wasn't her lover before her, it was Mathew, the admiral's son. He looked more like Peter than Peter did and her heart beat for him in the exact same way it did for him but it wasn't him.
Silence swept for a moment as he just stood there looking at her and she just sat there looking at him; getting further lost in the absolute wonder that were his eyes.
"Who are you and why can't I bring myself to stop thinking about you?" Mathew asked; standing upright with his hands behind his back.
She slowly rose to her feet. "My name is Mia," she answered; the sound of her voice sending the sweetest shiver down her spine, worse off when he looked at her soft lips and remembered the feel of them against his. A kiss that was so close to being his death.
"Why do I feel this way for you Mia?" he asked, somewhat breathless like the way he was feeling brought him a kind of pain; one that was weaking him before her beauty by the second.
"Because our hearts know each other."
"I feel like I've seen you before," he said; with his eyes beginning to water. "I feel like I know you."
"You do. Not this you but . . . Another you . . . My you." Mia's eyes began to water as well as inside her heart began to cry out to his; having him right there and not being able to hold him or kiss him, she had never known torture until that moment.
"Another me." Mathew took a step forward. "What do you mean another me?"
"From another time . . . From the time I come from."
"I don't understand what you're saying."
"I'm from the future," she said. "I was brought back to this time by the time keeper because there is something I must do."
"And there's a me in the time you come from?"
"Yes. His name is Peter and you are a spitting image of him." Mia took a step forward as her eyes watered on. His too.
"And who is this Peter to you?" Mathew asked.
"He is my fiancé. I was supposed to be getting married to him tomorrow but instead the admiral is going to have me hung."
He took another step forward; still with his hands behind his back. "He told me you're a pirate . . . Is it true?"
"My full name is Mia Dalhamavaughn," she said and he threw his head a little back. Like his father he knew that name very well.
"Dalhamavaughn as in Capt. Julien Dalhamavaughn?"
"Yes."
"Goodness." The emotion in his face drained. "You are a pirate," he said; like it was the worst possible thing that could ever be. It actually just might have been because knowing his father and his history with the pirates that sailed the waters not too long ago, he knew of the deep hatred he had for them and so if he said he was going to have her hung that was exactly what he was going to do; a fate that immediately had his heart shattered. Admiral Krenan hated pirates with every beating of his heart and he was going to keep killing them until the very last one.
"That doesn't make me a bad person." Mia took another step forward. "I may be the descendant of a pirate but I'm a good person. And from what I've gathered so far, so was he. I didn't come here to hurt anyone, I just came here to do what the time keeper summoned me to do."
"And what is it the time keeper summoned you here to do?" he asked and Mia paused for a moment; wondering to herself if she should tell him the truth or not. Her mind told her no but her heart kept telling her yes; yelling it even as though from the top of a mountain. Mathew was the son of the man who had sentenced her to death by hanging, surely he couldn't be trusted but it wasn't just Mathew who was standing in front of her, it was Peter and Peter was the keeper of her love; there was no way she could keep anything from him and so she decided to tell him.
Mia told Mathew everything. From her wedding to exactly what the time keeper told her and tasked her to do, even the extremely sensitive bit about the kolossimous scrolls; slowly moving closer to him as she did with him looking at her the entire time like he had never been more allured by anything in his entire life. Looking deeply into her eyes and seeing in them exactly what she saw in his; everything his heart could ever want.
"I can't be hang tomorrow. You have to do something," she said; now standing by the bars, with Mathew still standing where he was before, not wanting to move closer to her lest her beauty render him completely powerless. "If I die then those scrolls will still be out there and as long as they're out there the world will never truly be safe. If they fall into the wrong hands the kolossimous will be awakened and the earth will be destroyed. I have to get to Capt. Zedarh's island, find those scrolls and burn them. Please. This is not just about me. It's about all of us. If those scrolls are found and the kolossimous is awakened . . . All of humanity will be lost. Please."
Mathew paused thinking. She was obviously telling the truth. Not only could he hear it in the way she spoke but he could see it in her eyes as well; the way they were reaching out, he just wanted to lean forward and grab them. There was so much in them; like a book with a thousand pages just dying to be read. She had told him why he was feeling the way he was about her but it was still a lot for him to take in because what he was feeling was just too strong. It was too real and the more he stood there looking at her the more real those feelings became. Who was this woman who had absolutely stolen his heart?
Mathew arrived home. He lived with his father in a fancy two story house right in the middle of the island; enclosed in a metal barred fence and with armed soldiers patrolling the grounds. It was almost mid-night and Admiral Krenan was in his study. On another night he would have been in there catching up on his reading whilst sipping on a cup of tea but on that night he wasn't, instead he was sitting back in his chair looking down at Mia's pirate necklace on his table; in almost a mad way. Looking at it as though he had asked it something and was waiting for it to answer. Pirates on his island, it couldn't be. He and his army had worked so hard to end piracy and now could it be on the verge of coming back, if he could he would have grabbed the necklace and just crushed it to dust in his hand. He would have reduced it to nothing because what it represented was an insult to who he was. Piracy was unlawful and he was the law and so staring on at the necklace and wondering if it was jus
Mathew grabbed a horse from the stable and flew to the fort. It was under attack. The explosions that were heard was the impact of the cannon balls blasting through the main gate and part of the fort wall. The next thing gun fire was heard; gun fire that sounded like it was coming from two different directions so two sides were obviously going at it; the soldiers holding down the fort and whoever had attacked it. Mia had heard it too and was standing by the bars looking in the direction of the main gate wondering just what was going on out there. It was two groups of men; one group was located in the trees and was equipped with cannons that after firing at the gate and parts of the walls were aimed at the guard houses and the other group ran into the fort throwing smoke bombs into the parade ground and shooting their pistols at the soldiers that were coming at them. The smoke spread and covered the entire parade ground and the soldiers lost sight of the men who knew exactly what the
The ship Mr. Bear hired out had set sail; sailing along the calm waters of the ocean under the bright light of the full moon. He, the men he rescued Mia with and a few others, Mia herself and Mathew; she asked him to come with them and he said yes and they stood together by the taff rail looking back at Cape Mackerel and the fort that they had destroyed. It wasn't on fire but it had suffered massive damage; three of the guard houses had been destroyed, the gate had been completely shattered and there were a good number of holes that had been blown through the fort wall. The smoke had finally cleared but it was too late; the men that had attacked the fort were gone and all that remained was some major cleaning up and fixing to do. Meanwhile on the ocean, the ship sailed on. It was a medium sized sailing ship made of dark brown wood and had cream white sails. A fifteen man crew ship with a man at the helm and the man in charge standing next to him. Mia and Mathew stood on as the gentl
Morning came and the ship docked on the shores of the island of Pensure; another small island to the south of Cape Mackerel. The sands were white, there were a lot of busy trees, the houses were small and made of wood that had been vanished and there was a large rock formation on the other side of the island. On the shore were a few small boats, a few men sitting on wooden crates mending a large finishing net, a group of children running around and there was a gravel path that led into the town where the market was; a place where all sorts of things were sold not just on stands but in small shops. Mia, Mathew and Mr. Bear went ashore, whilst the rest remained on the ship. They made their way down the dock taking in the simple island scenery. They reached the end of it and stood looking around some more; this time wondering where to start looking for Capt. Grovergane. "Right then, he could be anywhere," Mr. Bear said. "How are we going to find him?" Mia looked to her left where the
The next moment, Mia, Mathew and Mr. Bear had been let into Capt. Grovergane's house and they were sitting in the tiny living room/kitchen talking; with a door to the left that led to his bedroom and one to the right that led to the bathroom. "Goodness." Capt. Grovergane sat in his chair looking closely at Mia. "It's not you but . . . It's you . . . What is the meaning of this," he said. "My name is Mia Dalhamavaughn," she said. "I didn't know he had a child." "He didn't, well maybe he did but not me. I'm not his child." "You carry his name and you look like him," Capt. Grovergane said. "Yes, so I've been told but no. I'm not his child." "So who are you?" "I am a descendant of his," she answered. "From another time. A time long after this one. I was brought back by the time keeper because there is some unfinished business that needs to be finished." "A descendant of Capt. Jules?" "Yes." "Where is Capt. Jules?" Capt. Grovergane asked; it was a question he sort of knew the an
Morning came and the ship reached La Hannah and pulled up by the dock. It had just about the same feel as Pensure but it was three times bigger and so had more people. There were men carving a small boat, men out in the water throwing fishing nets into the water, men by a stand gutting, cleaning, salting and drying fish and men sitting under a large open tent weaving baskets; each one of them busy at their work. Mia left the ship with Mathew, Mr. Bear and Capt. Grovergane and they approached the group of men that were carving the small boat; the group that was nearest to the dock. "Good morning," she greeted and the men paused their work and looked at her and then at her company. "Good morning," one of the men answered; wearing nothing but trousers that had been folded up at the bottom. "Sorry to disturb you but we're looking for someone." "O.k." "Marilyn Gripp," Mia said and Mathew and Capt. Grovergane turned their heads to her as Mr. Bear just smiled to himself. They were there
The ship left the dock and began to sail out. Capt. Mohlenar had said his bit about just how he felt about them heading to Bara Drayago but he had chosen to tag along; his presence was needed and so he put aside his clear fear of the place and joined the company, bringing new life back to the trust. He too dove into his stashed away pirate chest and got his best hat and coat on and was very much ready for the adventure; a black leather tricorn hat and a brown coat. Mia was standing at the helm dressed ready for the adventure as well. Capt. Mohlenar had a coat and a hat of Capt. Jules in his posession and so like his own he dusted them and gave them to her and she proudly put them on; a wide black suede hat and a maroon coat with golden embroidery on it, nicely put together with some of the clothes that the many women that had slept over at his house had left behind; a white blouse, a navy blue corset, knee high maroon suede boots that matched the coat, slick black pants and two thick
The ship sailed on and reached the secluded beach Mathew spoke of. It was a small beach on the extreme opposite side of where the fort was and there was not a single soul in sight. "I can paddle out on a small boat with a few men and go and place the orders of the weapons you need and then we can move them later under the cover of the night," Mathew said. "O.k.," Mia responded. "Whoa hold on, I know his your lover and all but are we seriously going to trust him with this?" Capt. Mohlenar asked. "It does feel a little fishy," Capt. Grovergane agreed. "Thank you." "He could end up disappearing with our money or worse off calling in his father's army to come and arrest us," Mr. Bear said. "He's not going to do that," she said. "I'm not going to do that," Mathew said. "I'm sorry but I just don't trust him," Mr. Bear said. "Mr. Bear seriously," Mia said. They had talked about it before and seemed to be cool about it and so she found herself quite touched by the words that were com
The following day came and it was her wedding day. Mia and Peter exchanged vows and it was a beautiful celebration; a colourful beach wedding with all the guests gushing at how cute they were and looked together. They both said ‘I do’ and they were announced husband and wife, and as they moved into each other to share their first kiss as Mr. and Mrs. Krenan the guests ululated for them. Night fell and the reception was held and in one of the hotel’s halls the bride and groom enjoyed the night with their friends and family; drinking, dancing and just having themselves a good time. Early morning came and as Mia and Peter were in bed sleeping, a sound came from the living room of their honeymoon suite; the sound of footsteps, there was someone walking around in their suite. Mia opened her eyes and lifted her head off the pillow to get a better listen but the moment she did the sound of the footsteps stopped. She then looked behind her to see if Peter was the one who was out there becaus
Capt. Jules dipped his hand into Capt. Zedarh’s inner jacket pocket and pulled out the missing piece. “I win,” he said and pulled his sword out of Capt. Zedarh’s chest and kicked him back. He then quickly walked up to Mia who was still on the ground, now with streams of tears running down her face. He reached her and looking down at her like he did before he then held his hand out to her. Mia looked down at it and then back up at him and grabbed it, and he pulled her up to her feet. “Oh my . . . Look at you . . . You look like my mother . . . You look exactly like her,” he said and gave a faint smile. “What is your name?” “Mia,” she answered. “Mia Dalhamavaughn.” His smile grew wider as his dead eyes began to tear up. “You bear her name was well.” More tears ran down Mia’s face; he looked nothing like he did in the photos her mother showed to her but the connection was still there and it was strong. “Here, take this, there’s not much time left,” he said and handed the piece over
Mia went on searching Capt. Zedarh’s cave of treasures for the missing piece of Galagus’s hands of time but it was nowhere to be found. She looked from pile to pile but there was no sign of it. Just then a strange feeling came over her and she stopped for a moment and looked into herself. She felt not like herself; like she had to remind herself that she was her. She then touched her face and her body to feel if it was still her, and looked down at her hands; there wasn’t a clear difference but there was something different about her and she could feel it like the clothes on her body. “Uh Dalagus?” she called out to him. “Yes Mia,” Dalagus responded; with him and the others still holding the hands of time apart. “I uh . . . I think something’s wrong.” “Yes and we’re trying to fix it. Find the piece quickly Mia, the world is wasting away, we don’t have much time. Hurry!” “No, with me, I think there’s something wrong with me.” “What do you mean?” “What’s going on Dalhamavaughn, fi
The fight between the living and the dead carried on as Capt. Zedarh popped up from behind his men and fought Mia one on one; their swords clinking here and there as they tried to get each other, as her crew went on fighting the others, stabbing them in their dead flesh and shoving, kicking and even punching them over the side of the walkway. Capt. Zedarh was the most feared pirate in the waters, his mere name sent shivers down people’s spines, he commanded three ships at the same time which meant that he had three times the crew and three times the chance of winning any clash and that was who she was fighting? If it wasn’t for the Dalhamavaughn blood that ran through her veins she wouldn’t have stood as strong as she did. Capt. Jules was an excellent swordsman and those skills were the ones she used to match up to Capt. Zedarh’s, which were just as excellent. Which was why the fight they had five years ago took so long and ended up claiming both of their lives, because they were equa
Mia and her crew reached the coast of the island and managed to flag down a cargo ship and all the way back to the cave of time they went, as the thunder roared on and the green lightning flashed on in the stormy skies. They had gone back to rescue the others that had been caught by the trolls spit balls and so their number was back up; with each one of them shaken to their bones over what was going on. Some damage had clearly been done but the question was what was the extent of said damage? Was it something that they could be able to turn around or was what was happening a done deal? Only time would tell. They reached the stone platform in the middle of the ocean and because the storm was more on the calmer side than it was the wilder side, they managed to reach there with no trouble at all. The ship came to a stop and Mia and Mr. Bear made their way down the staircase and then the walkway to the cave of time as the rest remained on board. They were the ones that had been summoned b
Mia and her crew managed to escape the bats, with no one else succumbing to being eaten, and continued trying to find their way out of the cave and back onto real ground; turning left and right through another network of tunnels and coming to another cave, a much smaller one this time, with large roots poking out of one side of the walls, large roots they quickly began to climb as they led up to their way out, a big hole in the ground. They made it out and they were back in the forest; looking in all directions to make sure there was no creature anywhere near them to attack them. “Does anyone see anything?” Mia asked as they looked on. “No, it’s clear this way,” Capt. Grovergane answered. “It’s clear this way too,” Capt. Mohlenar said. “I think we’re in the clear . . . For now,” Mathew said. “Alright, we keep making our way to the coast,” she said. “To flag down a ship and return home?” Capt. Mohlenar asked. “If by home you mean going to see the time keeper and telling him that
Mia and her crew faced up to the creature and it was a tough fight. It kept swinging its tentacles at them to either grab them, hit them or crush them and they kept slicing at them with their swords and knives, dodging them and moving out of their way respectively. With how it had been grabbing them and pulling them back they knew that because they couldn't outrun it it would have continued to do so until it eventually feasted on them all and so though it was a crazy option fighting it and killing it was the best chance they had of making it out alive. They fought on against the odds and were actually doing something; despite the crew men being hit hard against the walls by the creature’s tentacles. Their knives were not big nor were they sharp enough to defend them as well as the swords were defending the others and so they got themselves quite the beating, with four out of six of them being hit so hard that when they dropped to the ground they stayed down, with the others still cons
Mia and her crew swam to the shores of the lake and looked around at where they had fallen. They were in a cave with an intricate network of irregular shaped tunnels in it; tunnels that looked like they had been made by something burrowing through the ground.“Goodness, now where are we?” Capt. Mohlenar asked as he and his fellow pirate captains shook the water off of their hats and put them back onto their heads.“I don’t know but by the looks of it . . . I’d say nowhere good,” Mia answered.“How are we going to get back up there?” Mr. Bear asked.“We can’t we’re just going to have to find another way out.”“How? We don’t even know where we are,” Capt. Grovergane said.“We just keep moving until we find our way out.”“Through these tunnels?” Capt. Mohlenar asked.“Yes.”“I don’t like the look of them.”“Neither do I,” Capt. Grovergane agreed.“Neither do I but we can’t get up there so the only other chance we have at getting out of here is through the tunnels,” she said.“What if the
The ship got completely swallowed by the giant whirlpool and underneath it was broken apart, with everyone on board, along with a few broken pieces of the ship, being sucked through the whirlpool spiral at such tremendous speeds they didn’t even know what was going on, all they knew was to hold their breaths. They couldn’t even open their eyes to see what was going on because they were moving way too fast; almost with a speed of a bullet. Suddenly, they stopped moving and when they opened their eyes they saw light above and swam for it. They broke through the surface of the water one right after the other taking in the hugest of breaths, with some of them even coughing from having swallowed a few cups of water, and got into looking around as to just where the whirlpool spiral had spat them out. There was a gorgeous waterfall behind them and all around was a thick and lush green forest, like they had just been spat out in the A****n. They then swam to the shore, with the pirate captain
