“Make sure their faces, names and ID are printed and distributed to every store in the building.” Ellis instructed the manager of the store who was nodding vigorously.
Emily and Jordan still stood in one place, watching the whole scene unfold. They knew Ellis as wretched and poor, how could he have a black card and spend so much money right in front of them? They were still gawking when four security staff came to disrupt the shock that sent them reeling, by grabbing their arms.
"Don't touch me! Do you know who my father is? I will sue for harassment and assault." Emily protested and wiggled under the hold of the two security staff that held onto each of her arms.
"You heard the Young master. You have to be thrown out of this place right away. He owns the building now so he can do what he wants and he wants you both out of his property. He can sue you for trespassing as well." one of the security staff said.
"I cannot believe that an imposter can come here and begin to tell you guys what to do," Jordan sneered. He looked at Ellis who had stopped to watch the spectacle going on in the boutique.
He wanted to witness the humiliation of Emily and Jordan, just like they had humiliated him several times before without mercy. This was just a taste of his revenge on them and he had to admit, it felt good to have power.
"You will not get away with this," Jordan said to Ellis.
Ellis only laughed but did not give him a reply. He did not think that Jordan was worth replying at this point. The security staff did not waste any more time listening to Emily and Jordan's protests anymore, and held them strongly and threw them out of the boutique. Emily and Jordan came landing on their asses outside the boutique and creating a scene as people were outside and could see what was happening. Emily turned red with embarrassment as pictures and videos of them were taken. Jordan turned to shout at them to stop recording but the crowd still continued. No one wanted to miss the drama.
Ellis walked past them to get in his car. He saw Emily and Jordan cleaning themselves up. As if to punctuate the drama that was already going on, their eyes widened as guards came running to open his door for him. The car he was driving made their jaws drop in shock. Even Jordan’s father couldn’t afford to drive that type of expensive car. Just some days ago, Ellis was too poor to afford lunch at school, and here he was, getting into one of the most expensive cars in the world. Their tiny brains just couldn’t comprehend how his reality just changed all of a sudden. Ellis's car drove off and he went to another expensive boutique across the town to get his favourite type of sneakers.
In the boutique, the management and staff treated him with utmost respect, even though he was still wearing his old and tattered clothes. This was so because the news of what happened at the first boutique where Ellis had gone to make his first purchase, had spread like wildfire across the city. The manager of the first boutique had told other managers in the business to be careful so as to be able to avoid being reported to Mr Cyrus Royale for mistreating Ellis. Pictures and videos of Emily and Jordan’s humiliation were trending as well.
"Welcome sir!" The receptionist greeted Ellis, a tad bit too excited and respectful. The tone from the now smiling receptionist made Ellis wonder why he had not been insulted yet. He was always insulted because of his tattered clothes and here he was with those same clothes, but not getting any insults. Guess the money in your account mattered more than the clothes you have on. Power speaks louder than accessories. He asked to see their most expensive shoes from all his favourite brands. Before now, he could never afford to buy even one pair of these shoes, but now, he could buy the whole store of them.
"Please sit a while, so that I can call on someone to take you around the store for a maximal and better experience." The receptionist smiled, pointing at some seats opposite where she stood to attend to customers.
"Okay," Ellis said and sat down. But just as Ellis sat down, another man came in and talked a while with the receptionist.
The man left angrily because of whatever the receptionist said to him. Ellis noticed that the grace with which she addressed him, was absent in how she addressed the man that came after him. It made him wonder why. After all, the man was even more better dressed than Ellis was. He shrugged. Nothing really concerned him, he didn’t hear their conversation anyway. But what he did not know was that the receptionist had told the man that no one was allowed into the store until Ellis was done shopping. Ellis was their VIP client so other clients had to wait and the man was furious which was why he stormed off instead of waiting.
Soon enough, an attendant came and took Ellis to the area for sneakers. The attendant showed Ellis around, helping him find what he was looking for, and rolling his trolley for him. After a lot of denim and sneakers purchase, Ellis decided to buy tuxedos for official events, in the case of their happening. He asked the attendant to take him to the area for tuxedos.
"We do not sell tuxedos here, sir, but I can direct you to the best tuxedo selling store in the city." The attendant who was rolling his trolley said.
"Okay. Let us go to the counter so that I can pay for these."
Ellis and the attendant went to the counter where Ellis paid for everything with his black card. Everything he bought cost a total of ninety million dollars, and it was nothing compared to the amount that still sat pretty in Ellis's account. His goods were packaged in designer bags and carried out for him into his car.
After all of his shopping, Ellis was back at the Royale mansion in the evening. Upon getting back home, he was met with tons of gifts from Mr Cyrus who had also done some shopping for Ellis. It was a way of surprising him and also telling him that he could spend as much money as he wanted. Ellis's car was already over pouring with designer bags filled with his goods from shopping, and he was receiving more from Mr Cyrus. He could not contain his joy, and went to hug the smiling Mr Cyrus.
"Thank you sir, thank you so much!" Ellis said, genuinely grateful for all that he had received.
"You are welcome, my son. You should get used to this very quickly, as this will become the norm from now."
"Yes, sir," Ellis said happily.
"You don’t have to call me sir. I understand that calling me father so soon may be hard for you, but at least call me by my name. I have also heard some rumours but I want to hear directly from you, what happened at that boutique?"
"Not really sir," Ellis said, trying to make light of the situation. "I was told rude stuff at first, but after I proved to them that I was a Royale by buying the boutique, they began to respect me again."
"Okay," Mr Cyrus smiled, "you don't have to prove yourself to anybody, my dear. But now that you have, make sure to make good use of the property you bought for your own profit, okay? The building is a valuable asset. I’ll teach you more about business as time goes on so you can take over as CEO of my company as soon as you graduate."
"Okay." Ellis said with a smile.
"You may go up and get freshened. Dinner will be ready in a few minutes."
"Yes, sir."
"Ahem!" Mr Cyrus cleared his throat as a reminder and Ellis laughed.
“I mean, yes Mr Cyrus.”
Mr Cyrus laughed. "Good. It’s not the best but at least it’s better than sir."
Ellis happily left his new father's presence and made for his room. But when he got to the hallway and away from Mr Cyrus's sight, he met with Marcus, Mr Cyrus's first son.
"Where do you think you are going to?" He asked Ellis scornfully, while blocking his way.
"To my room?" Ellis looked at him.
"What room? Do you have a room here? Don't you know that you have no place here in the Royale mansion? You’re just a street rat trying to reap where he didn’t sow." Marcus sneered.
"What do you mean by that?" Ellis asked.
"Go back to the streets where you came from, you impostor. You think pretending to be a good person and buying my father's heart with your cheap antics can get you a place here? You lie. You better take your new gifts and go start a life somewhere else."
"Marcus, what is this about?"
"Oh! You want to know what this is about, right?"
"Yes, tell me. I’ve done nothing to offend you, have I?"
"My siblings and I want you to leave this mansion right away because you are nothing but an impostor and a low life." Marcus declared.
Ellis chuckled. "Lowlife? Yes, I used to be a lowlife, but not anymore. Not since Mr Cyrus who is now my father found me. I will not banter words with you, Marcus. But I will tell you this: snap back to reality and accept everything that is going on, because our father has made his choice and there is nothing you can do about it." Ellis said and walked out on Marcus.
Hearing Ellis call his father ‘our father,’ made Marcus so angry and rigid with wrath, that he snapped his fingers after Ellis and vowed under his breath,
"I’ll make you regret ever setting foot in this house."
The next day was quite an eventful day for Ellis, as it was the day chosen by Mr Cyrus to announce him as his new son and the chosen heir of the Royale family wealth. That day, a press conference was held in the extravagant hall of the Royale mansion. Preparations had been made and the cushions occupying the space in the living room were moved out for the conference, leaving enough space for the media reporters that would occupy the place. Mr Cyrus had put a call to media platforms, calling their attention to his announcement. He knew that they would pay attention to him because any news that had to do with the Royale family was taken very seriously in the city. Later that day, the media reporters flocked into the Royale mansion and took recordings of Mr Cyrus as he spoke. The whole Royale family were present at the press conference, and they were seated behind the decorated podium where Mr Cyrus stood to give his speech.Mr Cyrus cleared his throat before he began, "Good day, ladies
Ellis wasn’t used to being the centre of his attention in school unless it was for something negative. So it was weird for him to see people gawking at him, whispering about his new clothes and shoes and staring in awe as they discreetly tried to take pictures of his outfit. But he didn’t show that he was feeling a bit anxious, he just walked down the halls with his head held high. When he opened the class door, he didn’t immediately step inside, just in case they tried to pull the same prank on him as last time where there was a bucket of smelly water waiting at the top of the door to drench him.Nothing fell from the top of the door so he walked in with more confidence. The bullying would stop now that they knew he wasn’t just a poor student anymore. Jordan was in class with a frown on his face as he saw Ellis walking inside. Enily was also in the class seated beside Jordan, but she was looking at Ellis with longing. Just his shirt was more expensive that everything in her wardrobe.
Ellis was a bit shocked by the information he just learnt. He never knew something like this was possible, yet he couldn’t deny that it was real because he had just seen Mr Cyrus’ hands glow. Even without that physical evidence, Mr Cyrus had taken him in and made him the heir, there was no reason why he would lie about something like this. Cultivation was something he had only thought was possible in books and movies, not in real life. But he would be stupid to pass up the opportunity to learn about it.“I would like to get stronger, I don’t want to ever be a victim of bullying of any kind. But can you please explain more about this to me first?” Ellis asked and Mr Cyrus nodded.“Only very few people in the world know about this and it’s kept secret for a reason which is to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands. But even among those who know about it, only few can ever be able to access Qi and also harness it. It requires extreme focus and dedication. Some people take years bef
Jordan was furious as he returned to his room that evening. His father had just given him a tough choice. He was literally caught between a rock and a hard place. He had to either apologise to Ellis, or risk losing his inheritance. How could he possibly stoop so low to apologise? He had never had to apologise for anything in his whole life because of his rich status. People apologise to him instead even when he was wrong. But if he didn’t apologise, he would be forced to become poor and his social and rich status would mean nothing. “AARGH!” He yelled as he tossed all the items on his bedside drawer to the ground, There was a clattering sound, and a glass bottle even broke but he still wasn’t satisfied. He wanted to cause more damage. He focused his anger on his bed next, ripping the sheets to shreds and destroying all the pillows. He broke his chairs and tore any book he could find out of anger. Then he left the house and drove around recklessly till he ended up at a bar and drank h
Jordan was shocked by Ellis' statement. How could he possibly kneel before someone he bullied for so long?"I'm leaving in two minutes so make up your mind before your time expires. I have more important things to do than wait for you here." Ellis said and checked the time on his new, ten million dollar wrist watch. The watch was even among the cheapest in his new collection. Most of his accessories had been gifts from Mr Cyrus. Jordan looked at the watch with awe because he had begged his own father for that same watch and his father had refused to buy him one. Now Ellis was just flaunting the watch just days after becoming a Royale. It was shocking to see Ellis in such an esteemed position. How could everything just change so suddenly?Jordan swallowed nervously and looked around the class. Everyone was staring at him, waiting to see what he would do. Some of them were taking videos and he tried to command them to stop recording. Before now when he was the boss of the school, they w
Mrs Adens was more than surprised to see her daughter come back home stained with mud. It was the dirtiest she had ever seen her daughter and it made her wonder why Emily was getting back from school like that. "Emily dear, why do you look so unkept?" She asked and rinsed her hands off the carrots that she had been dicing when Emily came in. Emily walked towards her slowly and came to a halt right in front of the kitchen. "Someone splashed mud on my body as he drove out from school." Emily said quite soberly. She didn’t want to admit the true situation, that someone she had thought was beneath her had returned even better and had rejected her so openly. "Mud?" Her mother's voice was a puzzled one. "Who would do that? And why Did you stand up to them?" "It was a classmate." Emily said again, but this time, she did not wait for her mother to speak. Instead, she walked into her room to change up. As Emily went up, her mother wondered which of her classmates would soil her clot
Ellis got home from school a bit tired that day. He needed to rest, but before that, he wanted to tell his father what had transpired between him and Jordan at school. He knew where his father was — at the study. He went up there to meet him. Mr Cyrus was very diligent with his work, so even when he didn’t regularly visit his office, he always worked from home to supervise the activities going on."Good afternoon." Ellis saluted his father. "Oh, Ellis! Welcome. How was school?" Mr Cyrus said, raising his face up from his laptop to look at Ellis."I'm fine, dad. How are you? You seem like you’ve been working for a while. You need to rest more.""I'm fine as well. And don’t worry about me, my boy, I’ll rest when I’m dead. Did you have any trouble today? I hope no one is bothering you." Ellis sighed and smiled. "Well, today, I made Jordan apologise to me and everyone he has bullied in the school. It was fun to watch."Mr Cyrus listened with sheer interest in what his son was saying. "
George hesitated a little before speaking up. His hesitation irritated his father and puzzled Ellis. Why was he delaying instead of just making his request? It must be something really bad."I want to speak to you in private, father. Send your street rat out of here." George finally mumbled."You can speak. You have my attention. Though I may just decide to have you thrown out instead for calling my son a street rat." Mr Cyrus said with a frown on his face.George wondered if his father did not understand what the word, ‘private’ meant. His father made no move to send Ellis out and was still telling him to speak? What sort of thing was that?"I want to speak to you alone, father. Did you not understand what I said." George responded, giving Ellis a disapproving look. "I understood you loud and clear, and I said I am listening.""What the fuck, dad? Do you want me to spell it out? I want to speak to you alone, in the absence of Ellis. Send him away. This is a private matter. I don’t w
