Chapter 10: Puzzle

The hem of a blue dress sweeps the floor dragging fallen dried leafs along with it, those wobbly legs at its best to keep up motion, her fine metallic coloured eyes piercing through the dark alarmed for one thing, her captors, she had been reliving the day of her escape every time and it all ended up in being spelled to sleep. Each time she woke up she was on the run again but today was different, it was happening at night as opposed to the original noon day, her fear was more heightened due to the fact and her body quite responsive to the night cold but she kept her motion regardless.

The night was not peaceful as the terror cries of night birds hunted her ears, at each time she felt dark presence around her and the sounds closer to her ears. She held her heart in her hands desperately seeking her escape but it was a never ending journey, each time she found a new road which she hoped could lead her out of this endless circle it ended up getting her back to the original spot to which she had been spelled to fall asleep.

A gasp escaped her lips as she suddenly felt the Swift movement behind her, she reflexed a turn but found no one, she attempted a move and it passed again before her startling her all the same. She stayed frozen at the spot when the figure on a grey robe began approaching her, humming a sound that was poisonous to her ear, she placed her fingers in it trying to reduce the effect of the hum on it, it was incredibly painful and she agonized. She fell to the ground, her ears and eyes bleeding untill she passed out.

Was it a dream? The ancient demon could not decipher this puzzle of an illusion he had been immersed in, he had been roaming about this dark woods endlessly with no way out, each time he tried to find a way out he returned back to the same spot, his demon speed was of little use to him cause in this illusion he was slower than real life, his super senses where degraded and it scared him to his bones, how could a dream feel so real except it wasn't a dream but the last time he had been trapped in a thing like this was with his consent, hundreds of years ago, when he let his guard down and fell in love with a witch who actually had an agenda in his life, the witches had planned to take over power from the demon Lords who had been in control for long and they felt inferior to this beings, living in fear of their more powerful enemy the human demons.

This witch had found her way into the demon's prince heart and he trusted her enough to fall into her trap, she could not get rid of him, the only way was to put him in deep slumber locking him away for years. He had relived his trapped illusion ever since until one day, he encountered a glittering silver haired beauty in the dark, he could not see her face and each time he got closer she dissapeared from his sight only to return at last, "you are free." The celestial voice whispered to his ears and when he turned to see who it was she was gone and Dawn graced him in the dark awakening him in the deep of the ocean where he had been buried for all those years. His strength came alive and he was able to free himself but then the witches were ruling, raining horror on humanity while he had been hundreds of years set back. He had returned and coincidentally they were being exterminated by one fearless king with a celestial baby and gradually they fled into hiding.

He had not returned to let his kind know he was back though few had encountered him and there were rumours that he was back but it wasn't taken seriously since there was no prove, he had decided to live a normal life, associating with humans and living like them, he avoided love at all cost as the scar of betrayal was still engraved in his heart. Then why was he here again? As he pondered on his confusion those glittering silver hair caught his attention as the the moon shun on it.

Elnora felt the presence of a being behind her, getting closer with each step, her lips quivered and she was unwilling to know who it was, her feet fought every impulse to go on a flight of fear, so she stood there frozen expecting the worse to happen. A strange chill rushed through her body as the gentle hand of the being touched her shoulders, that feeling it felt familiar for reasons she didn't know, like she had experienced something like this before, a quick vision flashed through her mind, someone was trying to reach out to her but each time he got closer she ran from him, she could feel his dark aura but it wasn't threatening at all, at that point she felt he was indeed a helper rather than the opposite, so she slowly turned until her eyes fell on him, she couldn't see him clearly but his eyes sparkled through the dark and they were filled with flames, flames of worry and confusion.

When Earl saw the silver hair he had seen in the past he quickly recognized her, she was the lady that got him free and now he understood why he kept feeling a strong energy that was too pure for him, as he walked he felt drawn to it and when she turned to look at him his heart sank immediately, he could see through her and the fears and screams for help she haboured within her, he had been grateful to her ever since he got out of that nightmare and now he found her, "help me." Her voice came heavy on him, yes he should repay the debt but how was he supposed to when he was trapped in this hell with her.

"We will find a way out of here." He said as he held her hand which she gladly let him hold. It was the softest hand he had ever held, she held on to him tightly and they began to walk. The circle continued and they were exhausted with frustration but then those grey robe appeared and she voiced out her fear but shockingly Earl could not see her, "Sleep well your highness." The lady said and once again she fell asleep and to Earl's dismay the soft hands he held had slipped away and she was nowhere to be found.

Not alone in this puzzle, those sleek hands held onto a hair pin, the one that belonged to the princess which he had discovered the day he found her, but what was he doing here at night and it felt so real to be just a dream, he had wandered eternally in this woods and he wasn't getting out of here. The hair pin was the first new thing he had discovered since he began this endless journey and he felt there was more to this place, maybe it wasn't a dream after all and Elnora may be trying to pass him a message on how to help her. Helping her was all he wanted to do ever since he found her, his eyes glimmering with hope as he held on to the pin, he was positive that he was getting out of there soon but at the same time, he wished he could get some answers that would be useful.

He turned suddenly as he heard the fizzling sound made by a creature, then came the animalistic voice, he walked gradually towards the sound and saw the hairless being in it's full features feasting on crawling things, he was marvelled to see something that looked like that but he wasn't scared, the creature suddenly stopped hearing footsteps behind her, she crackled her neck turning it towards him, he paused as he watched her but realized that she could not see him, she kept sniffling to catch a scent but couldn't get one then she packed a handful of her meal before hopping out from his sight. He had met a supernatural before and that was Earl but he had never seen anything like it except in books and he knew exactly what it was, the slave creature Weckle. If it was here then it's master was certainly around.

He hurried after it but ended up in a different spot, right behind him he could feel the fast pacing breath of someone and she was reaching out to him, he turned and his eyes bulged in shock of the sight before him, those teary eyes calling for help.

"Elnora.... He called, a jolt of excitement tickled his heart but immediately his face settled with worry, she was bleeding from her ears and her legs were about giving up when he rushed to her aid, she tried to voice out some words but it was difficult.

"H... Help me." She managed to say before passing out in his arms
