Looking for reinforcements (1)

Nero and Ted felt immense pressure shroud their bodies and their bones let out cracking sounds as they felt like they were carrying a heavy mountain on their shoulders.

The immense killing intent that covered the entire environment made their bodies to shiver intensely and they felt like they were being stared by a ferocious beast.

"Is this a mortal limit demon ?". Nero muttered with a pale face as he gripped his bow tightly. Beads of sweat could be seen on his face as he was currently under psychological pressure.

Looking past the figure of Vera who was faintly blocking the demon , one could see a tall figure that was covered in dark scales and those dark scales glinted with sharp light under the sun.

The different between the previous demon and the demon standing not quite far from them was not much in terms of physical appearance but the pressure brought by the mortal limit demon was too terrifying when compared to the slain slave demon.

Two hexagonal symbols could be seen on the face of the demon , exhuding horrifying aura .

Unlike the previous demon who had only one huge eye in the center of his forehead, this mortal limit demon had two eyes but they were pitch black.

Two tiny red dot could be seen on the both eyes.

The demon merely looked at their direction and the bloodlust coming from him almost rendered everyone completely useless.

It was extremely hard to muster any courage to even attack the demon in from them.

It was simply a difference in life structure and level .

Anyone be it humans or demons that have stepped into the mortal limit stage have surpassed the mortal rank and was a lifeform above mortals.

"Too terrifying !!". The chubby cheeks of Ted was red and shaking Intensely while he tried to stabilize his shaking body.

His back was completely soaked with sweat and he could not even muster any strength to move from his position.

"You guys go the other way , I will distract the demon ". Vera gritted her teeth and unsheathed her sword.

Her hands were shaking but her little face was filled with determination.

"No ! " . Nero immediately objected while shaking his head furiously.

"How can we leave you alone here ". Nero took deep breath as he tried to steady his hand and position the bow in an attacking posture.

He was already prepared to fight to the death here ! .

"Yes ! , we .... can't.... leave you alone here ". Ted was talking incoherently as he tried to put up a brave front by lifting the weapon in his hand.

"Listen to my arrangement first !". Vera shook her head in exasperation.

"Nero , you are currently Injured and you can't even shoot straight with your current state. Let alone fighting a mortal limit demon , a slave demon will probably slaughter you with ease now !". Vera said hurriedly as she sensed the demon slowly turn it's entire body towards their location.

In front of the demon was a devasted house that was forced smashed apart by mere sheer force.

Bodies littered across the ground and none of the bodies were in complete shape.

Some had their heads forcefully torn off , some had their stomachs forcefully torn open and their intestines littered across the ground.

The entire scene was simply too gruesome to behold.

"I need you and Ted to use this alley here and look for any possible reinforcement. The upper district must have been alerted by the demon invasion by now ". Vera said solemnly.

"But ...". Nero tried to argue stubbornly.

"Nero ! , listen to me !". Vera roared out and held the shoulder of Nero.

"Nero , this is not the right time to be stubborn. The faster you get reinforcements, the better. I will try my possible best to lure the demon away !".

Nero looked at the stern face of Vera and his eyes turned red.

Tears gathered in his because he knew that Vera trying to buy time for them will probably lead to her death but she was willing to do it.

The possibility of escaping from a mortal limit demon was extremely slow especially for a mortal like Vera who knew simple combat techniques.

"Nero , if you don't leave now , I will never forgive you !!". Vera shouted at Nero who was still looking at her with teary eyes.

"Vera , we can ...". Even Ted did not want to leave Vera alone here.

"Shut up ! , puffy face !". Vera glared at Ted and he immediately shrank his neck in fright.

"You are useless even if you stay behind. Nero , you have to leave now or do you intend going when the demon is already close !". Vera briefly glanced towards the demon who was looking at them calmly in the distance.

The demon stood motionlessly without the intention of moving. It calmly surveyed the little mortals ants in front of it coldly.

Fresh blood was still dripping from it's sharp claws to the ground ground slowly, forming a puddle.

"You have to stay alive until we find a reinforcement !". Nero took a deep breath and said seriously to Vera.

"Don't worry, I won't die so easily ". Vera smiled and promised.

"Please stay alive !". Nero smiled sadly as he looked at Vera with sad eyes before he dragged the stiff body of Ted into the alley situated at the corner.

"Goodbye Nero and Ted ". A tear slid down from the eye of Vera as she muttered softly.

She knew that she will never be able to outrun a mortal limit demon.

She just wanted to buy enough time for her friends to escape.

Others might not know horror of a mortal limit demon but as one of the best combatants in her class she was fortunate to learn a thing or two about speed.

Fighters at the mortal limit stage have already mortals in different aspects and terrifying speed was just one of the attributes they possessed.

"No matter what , I need to buy enough time for them !". Vera looked at the receding figures of Nero And Ted and said with determination.

She gripped her sword and jumped above the fallen store rack on the street and looked at the demon that stood in the center of the street calmly.

"Catch me if you can ". Vera provoked the demon by raising her middle finger and rushed off towards the left corner of the street and ran into one of the narrow passage there.

Whoosh!! the figure of the demon turned into a blur as it vanished from it's location.

Boooom!! the store rack in the middle of the street was smashed to pieces as splinters of wood flew in every corner.
