Jay POV
I yawned,I was drained and might collapse at any time.
"Jay,I think you should go home and rest" Ariel spoke with concern
"I'm fine,I need to….." I tripped and almost fell over but Ariel caught me.
"See you are not fine.Frank send Jay home" She sounded annoyed.
Frank used his hands to support as we left the station.
"Is he ok?" I heard Jay's Mom now my Mom whispered.
"I think he's just drained and hungry" Frank replied as he lay me on the bed.
"Then he should eat first"
"He can't eat in this condition,he needs rest first" Frank pulled my Mom out.
The room became silent and I soon slept off.
I frowned and slowly opened my eyes. I blinked to stabilize my vision.I rolled on the bed and checked the clock on the table by the bed.
"4pm,I must have slept a whole day" I groaned and sat up.
I haven't taken my bath for days now,so I decided to have my bath.
I've been soaked in cold water since it's summer anyway.
I came out of the bathroom and walked to my closet,I took a set of clothes and wore them.
"Rumble" my stomach cried,it hit me that I'm starving.
I went to the kitchen,after searching the whole place,I found macaroni and sausage in the microwave.
I wolfed down the food.
"You are awake?" I don't take a good look at this Mom I just got.My own Mother died when I was 15.
"Yes" I ate another spoonful of Macaroni
"Slow down the food is not running" She giggled,I don't know why maybe it was the real Jay's feelings,when she giggled I felt happy.
She has deep brown hair and her eyes revealed nothing but gentleness.
"I heard you cracked two cases in 2 days" she glanced at me,her eyes can't contain how curious she is,I know she wants to know how I did it.
"Yes,though it was tiring but it felt good,you know I almost die while trying to catch the women in red mastermind" I boasted
"Really?Are you ok?" She asked with care
"I'm fine"
"Don't do something that dangerous next time"
"Ok as soon as it getting bloody, I will back out"
"That my boy,I can't wait to brag to those aunties that called my son useless" she chuckled. I can see how happy she is.
She must feel like her son is now a hero
"Brag all you want,I will give you more things to brag about" her eyes sparkled.
"Jay I need to visit the aunty down the street,drink your milk when you are done.it in the refrigerator" she can't wait to brag.she left before giving me a chance to reply.
I smiled,even I felt proud of myself
My screen lit up and the ringtone engulfed the kitchen.
"Jay" Ariel's warm voice came from the other end.
"Did I wake you?" She muttered
"No I'm awake"
"I see,well the thing is the suspect is bent on not saying anything till you show up" Ariel layed out her concern
"I will be there in the next 30 minutes"
"Ok,I will be waiting" she hung up
I finished my meal and set to go.
I opened the invigilating room and saw Anita sitting with her head down.
"I heard you asked for me" I pulled the chair opposite her and sat.
She raised her head slowly,and smirk
She looked sleepy and I can't tell she didn't sleep all night.
"Why am I arrested? Nobody was able to answer the question that was why I asked you."
"Is that so? Anita Joseph let's begin the questioning" I opened the case file.
"It Anita Daniel" she corrected
"Naa it Joseph I don't know why you changed your surname but it isn't my business." She flashed me a sharp glare.
"Your father, one of the founders of BrianHub,was killed by his colleague,your mother also met the same fate."
"Why are you bringing my Mom and Dad into this? Why?" She was aggregated.
"Since it was the cause of all this,we have to bring them up"
"Bang" she hit the table with her hands and stood up from her chair.
She was glaring at me and looked like she wanted to attack me
"Don't call my parents again"
"Why? Isn't that why you are killing them all?"
"How would you have felt if your parents suddenly died? What would you do if you had nothing and had to take care of your lil brother? You think it's easy huh? Those people are monsters, they deserve to die!" She screamed trying to break free from her hancuff.
"I won't rest until I kill them all! I swear I will kill them!" She sat down back panting as tears cloud her eyes.
I just stared at her silently,allowing her to vent.This snow queen is not that strong after all.
"How do you feel now?" I saw that she has calmed down.
"Now should we start all over?" She nodded
" You killed the victims, didn't you?"
"Yes" she admitted
"How did you do it?"
"Antidepressants,I already inject it with the water they drink,the food they eat and slowly it killing them.And on the day they are to die I give them a large dosage that way it will be easier to induce the heart failure"
She cooperated which surprised me.
"Is that why Mr Jack acted up"
"Yes"
When I called Ariel yesterday and I heard screams and noises, it turns out Mr Jack passed out.They thought he was dead but he survived and is presently in the hospital.
"How did you manage to inject the water and food?"
"I do a lot of part-time job and worked for a water company,the day I was asked to deliver water to Mr Jack that was when I saw him after 10 years my that trigger my anger,how can he be living fine after all he did.Since then I continue delivering his water and managed to inject his first. I started delivering for the hospital too and somehow I got to inject the one's for their personal use."
"I see" I lean back
"Can I see my brother?" She requested
"Of course you can,you will get to see him before you go to court" she smiled regretfully.
"That will be all" I stood up and stroll towards the door
"Thank you"
"Huh?" I thought I heard wrong
"Thank you" she repeated.
I felt pity for her honestly
She had it hard and will still spend her life in jail.
"You're welcome" I stepped out of the room and breathed in relief.
"Congratulations Jay,you solved two cases in a row."Ariel clapped for me,a smile playing on her lips.
"We all did it together Congratulations to us"
"Let's celebrate" Ariel said and dragged me along
"Cheers" we clicked our glass and I drowned my shot.The hot and spicy sensation hit my tongue and I gasp.
"Jay did most of the work,I had no idea how we could have solved these cases if not for him" Drake praised me.
"I know right, have you always been this smart and were pretending to be dumb?" I laughed at what Ariel just said.
"People change you know,and I am confident in myself,I can solve almost all cases now" Frank snorted
"Bragging? Aren't you?"
"Isn't it enough to brag?" I chuckled.
"Let's drink till we drop" Drake raised his glass and we followed suit
"Cheers"
The night was still young anyways
