Entering the village

[You have learned the skill, Silent Flap.]

“Finally!”

After spending five hours flapping his wings, Isaac finally gained the skill he desired. Although he didn’t acquire the chain skill from the combination of the split-consciousness and enhanced thinking, it didn’t discourage him.

“It’s probably because I can use them however I want. I don’t even need the system’s consent to activate them.”

Passive skills are a special type of skill that differed from others, especially normal skills. They were always active and sometimes only triggered once a specific condition had been met. They didn’t need to be activated because they would only activate on their own. Although there was a clear distinct difference between the passive skills and the Split consciousness and Enhanced thinking of Isaac, he felt they were similar.

“Anyhow, now that I acquired the skills. I can now stealthily enter the village and explore what’s inside!”

Isaac hovered in the back of the village, so he had to fly a considerable amount of distance, causing him to buzz in complaints. He’s small, and so were his wings. One might think they fly the fastest probably because they were small, but he’s a mosquito. Dragonflies fly up to 35 miles an hour, while hawks fly up to 20-40 miles an hour, but a mosquito dismally can only fly 1 mile an hour. At most, 1.5 miles an hour!

“System. Can I activate any of the skills indefinitely?”

Isaac wanted to hasten his flying time. He doesn’t want to hesitate anymore as he wants to venture inside the village. Who knows? He might be interested in killing them once he spotted them activating an interesting and useful skill.

[Yes, only if the host can maintain the skills. As of now, the host can’t maintain any of the skills for more than a minute.]

Isaac then remembered when he activated his chain skill. He sort of forgot it because the exhaustion was immediately washed away when he digested the blood, making it his nutrition or like an energy potion.

“System, if I activate the skill, Charge. How much does it take to exhaust me to the point I can no longer have the energy to fly?”

[Responding to the host’s question. Currently, if the host wanted to activate the skills and he could still fly afterward, then five seconds of continuous charge is sufficient. However, if the host overextended it, the result might be unpleasant. For instance, the host activated the skill charge for ten seconds, then the host couldn’t maintain flying afterward and needed to rest for more than five minutes.]

Isaac frowned even though it wasn’t visible on his grotesque face. After all, if he activated the charge for five seconds, even though the distance might be reduced, it was still far away. Who knows? He probably needed to activate the skill tenfold just so he could reach the village gate. However, how much time interval does it need to activate the skill again? Ten minutes? Thirty minutes?

“Unless I can use the blood that I digest to replenish my energy. I can activate the skill however I want until it is exhausted. However, one single chain skill completely drained me, and digesting all the blood I consumed is the only thing to reinvigorate me!

Now I’m left with nothing.”

Isaac sighed inside, as he decided to activate the skill, Charge. Isaac immediately crossed fifty meters after he activated it for five seconds. Fifty meters might already be a lot, but he had only reached half of the village first.

In the end, an hour passed, and Isaac finally reached the village gate. He was so exhausted that he overextended himself once he saw the outline he was nearing the village gate. After all, he was human once, and humans always overexert themselves once they saw the end.

“Probably, I need to take a break for thirty minutes.”

Thirty minutes passed, and Isaac flew upward again. This time, he didn’t feel the ache coming from his wings anymore, unlike what he felt earlier, akin to what he felt when he jogged once after not doing physical activity for a whole month. Of course, he didn’t do it outside, for he would never do that.

“System, can I ask? How much time can I maintain the skill, Silent Flap?”

[With the host always activating the skill, Silent flap, together with his split-consciousness. The host didn’t need to activate it for it had always been active.]

Isaac was stunned before he was suddenly struck with the realization. He didn’t notice his annoying wings were quiet now. He even started to doubt if he had still his sense of hearing.

“System, can I remodel my status? And regarding the skill system? You probably relied on my memories, which you undoubtedly confused with the anime I favored.”

[The system is pleased to hear that. The host has been granted to change the system to whatever he likes. Even the way the system is talking.]

Receiving the system’s confirmation, Isaac’s boiling anger cooldown. After all, he had always been wanting to correlate the dungeon conqueror system to the dungeon-based game he always played. True, he loved watching the anime Great Remaru, but he only watched it because he felt it was related to the dungeon-based game he played. Therefore, he was angered when the system confused the two of them.

“Okay, I will change it later on.”

Isaac didn’t call the system because he didn’t want to receive a reply. In the end, once he decided, then the system would abide.

“Now, let’s focus on the task at hand.”

The gate was open and would only probably be closed once an invasion happened. Therefore, the gate was completely open because the gate has already the spikes atop it. The gate was divided into two, which only opened in the center.

Isaac took the chance of the gate’s structure to hover above the guard’s head to bypass them. Although, he might have done it later on even with his wings loud. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

“Silently entering the village, successful!”

Isaac cheerfully thought, as he immediately familiarized his new surroundings. He realized his vision wasn’t omnipotent as it seemed. After all, what he perceived in the village outside was only the structure and outline of its wall, and he could only see the thermal body of a wild boar tusk, the two guards guarding the village, and some thermal body he sneaks a peek at the gate.

However, now he was inside, it was completely different. It was bustling and the goblin was free without worry as was evident by how active their thermal body was. Isaac even caught a pair of thermal bodies in heat. Isaac immediately dismissed the sudden negative thought by distracting himself.

“Hmm? That small goblin running while saying something loudly, isn’t he the one I followed earlier?”

Isaac had been familiarized not by his thermal body, but his size and outline. He couldn’t understand what he was yelling about, but it seemed some goblin was filled with relief once he heard him.

“System, how to learn the skill of understanding their language?”

[Searching… Found… Registering… Success. The skill, Goblin language, can only be learned after listening to their race talking for an hour.]

“Seriously? An hour? Another time to waste yet again?”
