02: Divorce

Finding Nadia Sparks was not such a hard thing. Her news was everywhere.

The newest Movie Queen.

More importantly, Damien knew her apartment. Like most geniuses, Damien had a stubborn and wild personality. He found it hard to work with others, so early on in college, he picked up stock trading.

However, although he earned money, if his expenses were counted, like getting Nadia a high-end apartment, his laboratory, and everything they needed for research, he barely had anything left to his name.

As he got down from the cab, he gave the cab man a tip and then rushed into the building.

“Sir, guests are not allowed in.”

Damien paused, his brows raising at the security’s action.

Even though he wasn’t here that often, the security here still knew him.

To call him a guest now and then say he was not allowed in was a little out of line.

“Tell Nadia that I’m here.”

“Miss Nadia's manager instructed us not to let you in.”

Being this specific, Damien could already tell that something was wrong.

Perhaps he had done something and this was Nadia’s way of venting her anger.

After taking a deep breath, he pulled out his phone and was just about to call Nadia.

At the same time, a mini-van pulled up to the front of the building. As the security saw the van, his eyes lit up and had an exprsssiom of wanting to watch a show.

Damien also saw the familiar van and kept his phone.

Instead of walking forward to meet her, he stayed in the reception. Since they have been secretly married for three years, he knew well that going out to meet her could allow her to be exposed to reporters and things that could harm her career.

Even though, she was now the movie queen, instinctively, Damien felt it was better to wait for her here.

Before long, Nadia walked in, flagged by two ladies that were clearly there to cater to her every need and step.

“Nadia…”

Before he could say more, his words were interrupted by Nadia.

“You have done well. In the future, only allow guests that I have permitted to go up,” Nadia said gently.

Sometimes, regardless of how real some things appear, they would always seem like a dream because a person’s mind and brain was unable to accept that such a thing was reality.

His wife was right in front of him yet, Damien could feel that the distance between them was almost like they had become strangers.

His brows furrowed slightly.

“Damien, to choose a day like this to come. I guess I didn’t judge you wrong.”

Before Damien could reply, she continued, with the attitude of someone talking to their subordinate.

“Lets go upstairs.”

Damien glanced around and then followed her upstairs. For privacy, her house was on the top floor. In the elevator, both of them did not say a thing until the elevator stopped in front of her floor.

Nadia glanced at the two girls. At the end, only the both of them entered the house.

“To come on a day like this, you must really be in a hurry to clinch to me,” Nadia finally said with a cold chuckle.

Looking at her cold appearance, Damien finally cleared his throat.

“What’s going on? Are you in any trouble?”

“Hehe, you in front of me is already enough trouble, if I’m in even more trouble, would that not be too unfortunate?”

All of the words that Damien had prepared was stuck in his throat as his brain was still trying to understand what was happening right now.

Eventually, he swallowed and spoke up.

“I wanted to congratulate you…” he didn’t know why but after seeing all those unreplied messages, he didn’t even bother to notify her and just came directly.

Nadia scoffed gently and then bent down and took off her heels. With her heels off, the height difference between them was even more obvious but Nadia still had that distant and superior feeling.

She strolled into the house and then came back with a brown folder.

“In truth, perhaps I’m a little tempted to help you. But at the end of the day, I don’t think you deserve it.”

“When you decided to do this, I already told you that it was tricky. But you were headstrong about doing it.”

Naida had always been against his researches. With Damien’s brain, if he had set up a business or a random firm, he would at least have been growing steadily right?

Besides, back then, the number of companies that wanted to work with him was not countable. Yet, he had declined every single offer.

Damien felt a little confused at her words. But somehow, he didn’t even have a reply to her words. Perhaps if she finished speaking, he would understand better.

To him, the most important thing now was to know what he did wrong.

“At the same time, I thought about it and I have realize that in the long run. You have always held me back.”

“Since high school, I could have decided to be with any of those men that paid you for helping them with assignments. But because of our passion for acting, I stayed with you.”

This time, her lips curled upwards in a mocking smile and she opened the envelope she was holding.

“Even at this point in my life, you still want to hold me back.”

“Nadia, what are you talking about? How could I bear to hold you back? I can’t even wait to give you everything you need.”

Nadia scoffed and then threw her head back in laughter.  The  look in her eyes was filled with mockery.

“You? A mere you thinks he can give me everything that I need?”

“You can stay in your dreamland but I refuse to remain tied to you in this lifetime.”

“Damien Storm, please sign the divorce papers.”

“In the future, the both of us would have nothing to do with each other.”
