Three years later.
Three years was a short time for many things to change. But for a person like Damien that was born to shine, three years was a long time.
“President, you have an interview with StarSpot. We would leave in thirty minutes.”
Damien nodded and then raised a finger up, a sign that allowed his assistant, Simon to know that he was in a meeting.
After what seemed like five minutes, he finally looked up again.
“Tell Cedric that the deal with Arnold Group is sealed…”
Before he could finish his words, the door burst open and Cedric rushed in.
“Damn man, why didn’t you tell me you were meeting with Arnold? I already told you I needed to score some points with him so he would let me be with…”
“And you know that I don’t miss business and pleasure” Damien interjected, cutting him off.
Tactfully, Simon withdrew from the room.
“You haven’t even tried to get his daughter to like you, yet you want to impress her father.”
“Set your priorities straight.”
Although his words were stern, he had a teasing look on his face that enraged Cedric.
“Just wait. I’m sure the moment she meets me, she would fall in love with me.”
Damien responded with a scoff and then broke the news.
“Allen and Arnold Group now work together. They went for a ten year contract.”
In three years, Allen had stunned the world. Very quickly, many startups had jumped on the artificial intelligence and then the both of them had convinced the bigger companies that Allen wasn’t a temporary thing.
They were here for the long haul.
“As if they would refuse it,” Cedric replied with a smug smile.
In the cut throat business world, no one wanted to be the last. They had six out of the biggest groups in the country already, it would be hard for Arnold to reject their offer.
Damien nodded, agreeing with his words as he
“Going from a startup to a billion dollar company in three year is just crazy,” Cedric said after a while with a deep sigh.
Damien reclined in his seat, his blue eyes darkening as he remembered the day Allen was born again.
Very quickly, he pushed his thoughts away.
“I have an interview in less than twenty.”
“Also, for the top three giants. I know they want us to bring the offer to them, one of them probed me at a ball a week ago but I wanted us to be done with Arnold before moving forward.”
On hearing him, Cedric jumped up.
“Are you serious?”
“Tell the legal team and the acquisition team to work hand in hand to tailor an arrangement that would suit each of them. It’s best to take them on all at once.”
This time, Cedric’s excited as a dog look was gone and he had a solemn expression.
“Can we take them on at the same time? Their users are massive.”
“Hmmm, that’s exactly why they need us. Most of their users are already directly linked with our free version. They would want to bring them back. On paper, it may seem like they have billions of users that we are onboarding but it’s less than half a billion from each of them right now.”
In truth, the three biggest tech companies could not agree that they wanted their users back, which meant that Damien could get the upper hand by constantly reminding them that the number of users they have would not be easy for their software to take on.
By doing this, they would have more negotiating power.
It was really simple in his mind but he had to break it down for Cedric. After they discussed for five more minutes. Cedric finally had a more reassured look on his face and Damien left.
Watching his friend’s back, Cedric couldn’t help but take a deep breath.
“Perhaps, I would never know what happened that night.”
Damien had always been a genius but he had also been a more mild mannered person.
At first, their plan was to create Allen and then charge everyone a small f*e to use it. Even the medical research breakthrough was meant to be a gift to the world.
For Damien, it was his way of giving back to the world before he chased his dream--acting.
Being born with an insane mind like him, he has always felt that while acting was also a great path, he could do more.
However, that night three years ago, Damien had canceled all their plans and drafted a new one.
The both of them have been following that plan in the last three years and have gone from a company that had less than a hundred thousand dollars to having a billion dollar.
Eventually, Cedric sighed. Either way, the both of them were having fun. Besides, they get to help the world and also enjoy the fruit of their labour.
On Damien’s side, their car rolled up to a stop in front of StarSpot and he got down, his eyes beaming.
Back in high school, the both of them would talk about getting a page here and when Nadia finally did it, he had gone ahead to use his savings to get her an exclusive dress for the photoshoot.
As his thoughts went there, Damien’s brows tightened a little before easing up immediately after.
“Follow up on the research institute, once it has passed the approval test, set up a meeting with Emily.” After giving him some more instructions, Damien headed inside StarSpot.
Just as he entered, he saw a familiar back walking into a room and his lips curled up. How could he not know who it was?
That was after all, a person that he had watched grow up.
What a small world it is.
“It’s been three years, Nadia Sparks.”
Very quickly, the team at StarSpot came and directed him to the top floor.Although he wasn’t some big-shot celebrity, the entire world had been curious about the groundbreaking Damien Storm.Allen had taken the world by storm with breakthrough technology and within three years rose to a billion-dollar company. For a person like that, they couldn’t interview him on the same floor as celebrities and led him to the top floor.“Damien!” A lady squealed as she rushed forward to shake him.Although not used to this kind of reaction, Damien gave her a warm smile in return.“I don’t think the world would expect that you are this good-looking,” Susan teased as she settled on the couch opposite Damien.Damien had gotten in just on time and as he settled in too, the cameras and light came on.“In the last two years, many assumptions have been made and many people have even tried to make Allen imagine your face for them,” Susan continued.Damien chuckled gently at her teasing. “At a point, I had
“You have the wrong person.”Hearing his words, Nadia’s mouth pulled into a pout and she had a pitiful look on her face. She looked like she could cry any minute. However, in front of Damien, her every actions were simply ridiculous.“Damien, these last three years, I have done everything possible to find you, could it be that you were deliberately avoiding me?”In truth, Nadia knew deep down that her actions were shameless. However, she was also already accustomed to dictating how things went between them. When she was interested in him, she used him to pass exams and settle some matters, while always reminded him that she deserved better.By the time she felt he wasn’t deserving of her and had no future, she had cleanly cut things off with him.Now that she saw the live video, she was at first shocked. After all, she had dumped him because she felt that he had no more potential but now he was the same man that has been causing a storm lately. One had to know that his net worth was n
Because of how sensitive the matter was, the entire PR team and even some other teams joined in to make sure everything went well. Also, most of the press came swiftly. First, Damien just did a live interview that revealed his face. Before now, the entire world felt that the genius behind something this great was definitely some unattractive nerd. After two years of no face reveal, everyone was even more certain of that guess. However, when they saw the hunk on their screen, the entire social media space exploded.Very quickly, Damien had become the top news on the internet and a national husband.[hehe, did my husband just say he wants to act?][i heard it too!][Your husband? He’s married to our movie queen!— attaches link]The internet was already a mess and the reporters swam over to the hall at Allen and Co.Once everything was ready, Damien made his way over there. Before leaving, he sent a message to Nadia. This was the last favor he was going to do for her.Although the press
In the last few hours, the sales of all Allen’s new products had broken the charts. With their launch, most companies had already expected that they were going to make their mark but this type of global sales made them take even more notice of Allen.“The face reveal was done at the best moment,” Cedric commented as he bit into his sandwich while studying the data in front of them.Damien shot him a side glance, “When has my timing ever been wrong?”They were both nerdy and didn’t have too many plans for business. For Damien, while he didn’t think it was something that was impossible to do, he felt that his acting career was waiting for him so he couldn’t manage Allen. However, since that night, his mind had been made up and he had changed his path decisively. From that point on, the both of them had poured everything into Allen and he had become even worse than a geek. But with the breakthrough, he was starting to relax slowly. Unfortunately, managing Allen also fell into his hands a
“Drop the act, Nadia.”Without waiting for her to reply, Damien stood up, his figure towering over Nadia.“Before you waste time with games, you can check this out. There are several copies and I can also have them upload the information to Allen.”As he pushed the flash over, he gently slid the laptop that was on the table with his hands so that it was directly in front of Nadia.Although she had come here full of confidence at swaying Damien, seeing his expression, Nadia was able to read the room that it won’t be as easy as her just saying a few words.Glancing at him one more time, she inserted the flash and operated the computer. In less than five minutes, her face, despite the layers of makeup on it seemed significantly paler while her hands that were resting on the table was tightly clenched together.“D…Damien… why do you have all these?” Nadia finally managed to ask, her voice trembling.Chuckling gently, Damien finally sat opposite her. His eyes boring into hers.“Back then,
“Damien, Nadia is on the screen again!” Cedric hollered from the resting space of the laboratory. As for Damien, the one that was being talked to, his ears were covered with the laboratory ear flaps, and he couldn’t even hear anything.Just as he poured in the last substance, he moved to the side where several computers were set up.“Allen, analyze the final chemical needed for the composition.”After about five minutes, the third and smallest computer beeped up, and then very quickly, lines and lines of chemistry evaluation were displayed on the screen. However, there was not a single hand on the keyboard.“Cedric! It worked!” Damien shouted even though he could hardly hear himself.Cedric’s gaze was fixed on the television as he watched every action of the figure on the stage. The lady on the stage was holding an award and gave a short speech acknowledging all the people she said were a part of her success.“Even after so many years, she still never gives Damien any recognition,” Ce
Finding Nadia Sparks was not such a hard thing. Her news was everywhere. The newest Movie Queen.More importantly, Damien knew her apartment. Like most geniuses, Damien had a stubborn and wild personality. He found it hard to work with others, so early on in college, he picked up stock trading. However, although he earned money, if his expenses were counted, like getting Nadia a high-end apartment, his laboratory, and everything they needed for research, he barely had anything left to his name.As he got down from the cab, he gave the cab man a tip and then rushed into the building.“Sir, guests are not allowed in.”Damien paused, his brows raising at the security’s action.Even though he wasn’t here that often, the security here still knew him.To call him a guest now and then say he was not allowed in was a little out of line.“Tell Nadia that I’m here.”“Miss Nadia's manager instructed us not to let you in.”Being this specific, Damien could already tell that something was wrong.P
Life is always bittersweet. Some days, you are having the best day of your life but someone out there is having the worst. For Damien, he was having the best and the worst at the same time. His eyes moved from the paper that Nadia was holding in her hand to Nadia’s cold and unfeeling eyes.“You want a divorce?” He finally asked. His voice was dry and a little rough. Conveying all his emotions.“If you want me to give you some money to help you tide over, it’s not impossible. However, you must sign another additional contract where you are not allowed to ever mention that we knew each other.”Damien’s fists clenched tightly.“Is anyone forcing you to do this?”They had known each other since high school. How could she be so eager to cut things off with him? However, Nadia threw her head back in laughter.“Force?” When she met his gaze again, there was a sneer dancing on her lips.“You still think so highly of yourself, Damien.”“Do you think you are still some high school prince?
