07: Wrong Person

“You have the wrong person.”

Hearing his words, Nadia’s mouth pulled into a pout and she had a pitiful look on her face. She looked like she could cry any minute.

However, in front of Damien, her every actions were simply ridiculous.

“Damien, these last three years, I have done everything possible to find you, could it be that you were deliberately avoiding me?”

In truth, Nadia knew deep down that her actions were shameless. However, she was also already accustomed to dictating how things went between them.

When she was interested in him, she used him to pass exams and settle some matters, while always reminded him that she deserved better.

By the time she felt he wasn’t deserving of her and had no future, she had cleanly cut things off with him.

Now that she saw the live video, she was at first shocked. After all, she had dumped him because she felt that he had no more potential but now he was the same man that has been causing a storm lately.

One had to know that his net worth was now close to a billion and the man didn’t look like the unkept researcher that she remembered.

He was back to looking like that school prince.

All in all, she was too regretful, hence, even if there was a part of her that felt her actions were wrong, she didn’t care.

Didn’t he always love her?

However, Damien’s reaction was really out of her expectations.

Really just said that he didn’t know her.

Wrong person.

Before she could say something, Damien had already walked off. As she stared at his departing back, her fists clenched tightly.

There was anger in her eyes but her eyes were also filled with determination. If she could get him once, who said there would not be a second time?

On the other hand, as he walked off, Damien's eyes were slightly slanted.

He had thought that perhaps when he met her again, there would be some residual feelings on his part. However, when he looked in those familiar eyes, he couldn’t even feel anything apart from a faint disappointment.

At the end of the day, the person she was three years ago was the real her, he was the one that had misread her all the time before then.

“President, the director you talked to just sent a schedule email,” Simon announced as they entered the car.

The bodyguards were in two cars, one at the back and one in front.

“When?” Perhaps he wasn’t like Naya, aiming to get the biggest recognition possible from acting.

For Damien, the experience was what he was most attracted to. To become another person completely just to tell a story.

Because he didn’t want anything dramatic, he just applied for the role of a background character. He didn’t even have to spend too much to study a script.

“Hmm, add it to my schedule.”

The entire ride was silent and just as they got to the office, Cedric barged in.

“Man, what’s Nadia saying?”

“Thought you guys ended things?” Cedric asked all at once.

Damien settled in his seat with one brow raised up.

“Saw her just now.”

Cedric’s eyes widened and veins seemed like they were being forced to stay within.

“And decided to get back with her?”

“You really think she’s sorry and loves you now? That damned bitch!”

After hearing his words, Damien finally realized something was wrong.

“What’s going on?” He asked while leaning forward slightly.

“Nadia just announced your marriage to her.”

“Right now, she has announced that she is going to show proof soon.”

Damien scoffed lightly.

“We ended things, it’s just a stunt to get attention and create publicity.”

Despite hearing that, Cedric didn’t feel any better. Who didn’t know that Nadia had gone from bad to worse in the last few years?

Her scandals were uncountable and he felt that now that she knew Damien was doing well, she would do everything to get back with him.

Damien glanced up and saw Cedric’s tense expression.

“Nothing will happen, don’t worry.”

Eventually, Cedric nodded and turned to leave the room but Simon rushed in with an anxious expression.

“President, your wife just released the news about your wedding, how should the team respond to…” before he could complete his words, Cedric shut him up with a glare.

“What wife?”

Simon froze but then glanced at Damien while Cedric also turned to look at Damien.

“Move the press conference for tomorrow to today, we will announce the product launch and clarify any unnecessary rumors.”

On hearing his words, Cedric sighed in relief and then left the office while Simon remained with his head bowed.

“Earlier, did it seem to you like we were a couple?”

“I… I thought that it was you that didn’t want to acknowledge. Also, since she posted the wedding pictures, I didn’t think too…”

“What pictures?” Damien interrupted, his gaze darkening.

Simon rushed forward and handed him his phone. “She released about twenty pictures,” he added.

Very quickly, Damien scrolled through the pictures. Each one was pictures they had taken from when they were dating in college to their wedding day pictures.

Although they were married for three years, Damien felt that Nadia couldn’t have their pictures.

Anytime they took pictures, it was always him who requested for it and they always used his phone.

Nadia didn’t want people to know she was married so why would she ask him to send the pictures?

After checking all the pictures, his lips curled upwards in a mocking smile.

“I was indeed too blind in the past.”

After passing the phone to Simon, he warned him sternly.

“If you can’t keep a mind against rumors, your role would be limited to work alone and you will have no access to my personal matters.”

“For now, make sure the press conference airs in less than two hours.”

The faster the better.
