Chapter 7-The Rulers

At 7 p.m. local time, a special banquet will be held to celebrate the return of the sole heir of the Rodriguez family. One of the resting houses of the Rodriguez assets, that Ewald managed to save, will be attended by important guests. The servants prepared to pamper their grand guests at the evening's closed-door banquet.

“Mr. Wyatt, the guests have arrived. Have you memorized the names?” asked Emma, who was standing next to the handsome man in the navy blue suit.

“Of course, Mrs. Emma. I have a good memory,” he replied confidently, which made Emma smile.

One by one, the luxury cars dropped off their passengers in the main lobby. Ewald welcomed the guests into one of the Rodriguez family's vacation homes in the town of Vertiland. Ewald deliberately did not use his usual home for fear that the news of the Rodriguez son's return would make some people try to harm the young master. The old man also changed cars every day to avoid suspicion.

“Hello, Mr. Patterson. Nice to meet you. I'm Jacob Wyatt Rodriguez. You can call me Wyatt,” Jacob said as he greeted a man dressed quite eccentrically in purple.

“Haha, handsome and rich! Just like me when I was younger,” he said happily with a cigar in his left hand.

Jacob returned the greeting with a smile. To him, the man was quite unique. Emma joined in the greeting and then led her guests into the banquet room. Jacob followed with the last guest. He walked beside him with patience as the old man used a cane and looked very old.

“You are a very great man, Mr. Raymond. You rule the city of Horizon,” Jacob praised, and the bald man with round glasses smiled wryly.

“Show me your greatness, Wyatt. Don't disgrace your mother and father. They're great people,” he replied, to which Jacob nodded slowly.

In a room with decorations that were almost all made of selected wood, it made a classic impression of luxury. There was a long table in the center of the spacious room with marble floors, filled with 10 people, including Jacob among them. Jacob sat at the center, with the women and men divided on the left and right sides of the table. Ewald stood beside Jacob as his trusted assistant.

The rulers of 10 major cities were seen. Jacob seemed to remain calm, although the seniors knew that he was nervous. The news they got from Ewald was that Jacob had been locked up by the Kaye family for 10 years and made into a servant. They were furious and eager to get back at Kaye, but the rulers were curious about the actions of Rodriguez's successor. Jacob started by introducing himself again and then got to the main point of the meeting.

“So, you're after the Torres Company? You can take it down in the snap of a finger, Wyatt. Why go to all the trouble?” asked a man with neatly trimmed sideburns and mustache named Davidson from Gondez city.

“Sorry, Mr. Davidson. However, I would like to know who the people around Torres are. I see that the Kaye and Torres families have a strong connection. Their involvement with my family's past must be there, even if it seems vague to you,” he said.

The seniors nodded slowly, as if confirming the words of the handsome man before them.

“You're different in handling matters like this, Wyatt. Although I heard from Emma that you became a servant and were required to be versatile. However, seeing your determination and self-control to expose the evil people who have been eyeing your parents' power, I am in favor,” said a woman around 50 years old with her hair rolled up.

“Thank you, Mrs. Elberta of Highten,” Jacob said with a nod of respect. Elberta nodded back.

"Do you know about your parents' death?" Mr. Patterson asked . Jacob nodded in response.

“Yes, they died in an accident while on a business trip out of town,” Jacob replied calmly.

“Rodriguez's accident must have been intentional. You must find the culprit, Wyatt,” said the man with the sharp eyes and thick eyebrows sitting on the right side of the table.

“Of course, Mr. Fernando. It's one of my priorities,” Jacob replied firmly.

“We will always help you from the shadows, Wyatt. I can sense that you want to finish this on your own. Therefore, we will not interfere,” said the man with graying brown hair and glasses.

“Thank you for your understanding, Mr. Riddick,” Jacob replied politely and was nodded at by the lord of Lodenburg.

“You'd better not use that ring in public, Wyatt. Your secret could be exposed. Perhaps, Torres has already warned his son,” explained the woman with long straight gray hair in her fifties.

“I accept your advice, Mrs. Firenze.” The woman nodded with a serious face. “I will make this ring a pendant,” he added as he gazed at the ring left behind by his parents.

"I'm sure you can accomplish all this on your own without our help. However, we are a big family. When the going gets tough, we help each other survive and stay on top," said the portly man in the shiny brown suit.

“You are right, Mr. Obsidian. Kaye is not my family, but you are. The Big 10,” Jacob said, earning a big smile from the guests.

That night, became the most important night for Jacob. His fatigue disappeared because of the arrival of the rulers, who were none other than his parents' friends. However, who would have thought, Jacob who looked innocent, but dexterous amazed the seniors. They talked about Jacob when the handsome man excused himself to the bathroom.

“Tell us, Ewald. How did Wyatt live while locked up by the Kaye family?” asked Mr. Davidson curiously.

“During his ten years as a servant, the young master was only paid $640 and ... he did many unnatural things. He was humiliated and wronged. I believe that Mr. Kaye did this on purpose to cover up Mr. Wyatt's true identity to his extended family. However, the good news. Mr. Kaye's wife and children have no idea who Mr. Wyatt really is. If they did, the Rodriguez family fortune would have already been drained using the young master,” Ewald replied angrily.

“The Kaye family has gone too far. They should be made to pay for this insult to the Rodriguez bloodline,” Emma said angrily.

“However, the good thing is. Wyatt is used to being insulted and abused while living with the Kaye family. Henceforth, we have nothing to worry about. Wyatt's mentality is like steel,” Obsidian explained. Everyone nodded in agreement.

“We leave Wyatt in your care and upbringing,” Riddick said as he looked at Emma and Ewald.

“I knew it. I'll be the babysitter,” Emma said with a lazy face, but made her audience laugh lightly.

“So … he's going to stay for a month at the Torres Company to investigate Rodriguez's missing assets?” asked Elberta curiously. Emma and Ewald nodded in agreement. “How many assets are missing?”

“Fifty,” the two replied in unison, which surprised the seniors in the room.
