Becoming A suspect

Lily manages to calm herself down.

"I won't die that easily," Dave said as he tickled her, making her laugh out loud.

"Now we are even right?" Dave asked.

"Yes," Lily said with a smile as she wiped her tears.

"I almost forgot, the commander said I should inform him the moment you woke up. He said he has something to discuss with you," Lily said.

"The commander? I am just a useless member of the group and the commander is known as a high class individual, what could he want from me?" Dave thought inwardly.

"But it doesn't seem like they are around, I heard a dungeon was open yesterday?" Lily said.

"Yesterday? Two dungeons in a day?" Dave asked with shock in his eyes.

"No brother, it not two dungeons appeared in a day. You were unconscious for two days," Lily said.

"Two days, that's a lot," Dave said with a shocked look.

"Okay, thanks for looking out for me during these days. But can you leave me alone for sometime and inform me when the commander arrives," Dave said.

"Okay, you must be hungry now. I will go and prepare breakfast in the meantime," Lily said as she left the room.

“System, what really happened?" Dave asked.

"Analysing data from two days ago," The system said as a blue screen appeared in front of him.

Almost like a 3d video, he watched himself on the screen witnessing what happened.

"I think the commander saw something," Dave said, looking at the screen with a frown on his face.

People knowing about the system may make him a target and since he is weak he could get killed from greedy people who thirst for power.

"It is better to keep the system a secret to myself. The more people know about the dangerous it is to me," Dave thought.

"So this is all that happened?" Dave asked as the screen disappeared into thin air.

"Yes, host," The system replied.

"You said I can get stronger from absorbing powers from people right?" Dave asked.

"Not only people, any creature that contains energy in them," The system replied.

"But they would be time I won't see energy to absorb, is there any other option I can do?" Dave asked.

"You can do some series of physical exercises. It will help you strengthen your body and boost your endurance," The system said.

"Okay, so do you have some?" Dave asked.

"Yes, here are some," The system said as the blue screen appeared showing various body postures.

Dave nodded, ready to begin his training. With the guidance of the system, he started his rigorous exercises, pushing himself to his limits and beyond.

He started with bodyweight exercises such as push-ups, sit-ups, and squats, gradually increasing the intensity and repetitions as he grew stronger.

*Bang* I can't go any longer Dave said as he collapsed on the bed. His body was sweating profusely.

"You have done well, you can take a break and refresh yourself," The system said. "In the meantime you can take a look at your status," The system said.

"Okay, show me," Dave said as he went to the bathroom.

As he finished dressing up,he heard a knock on the door.

"Who is it?" Dave asked, looking at the direction of the door.

"It's me, Commander Jack," Commander Jack said.

"Come in," Dave quickly said.

Commander Jack entered the room, his expression serious yet welcoming. "Dave, it's good to see you're awake," he said with a nod. "I hope you're feeling better."

Dave nodded in response, trying to appear unaffected by his recent entrance.

"Thank you, Commander. I'm feeling much better now."

Jack studied him for a moment before continuing, "I wanted to speak with you about something important. It concerns the recent dungeon incident."

Dave's heart skipped a beat. He knew he had to tread carefully, especially now that he had the system within him. He couldn't risk exposing his secret, not when there were potential dangers lurking in the shadows.

"What about it, Commander?" Dave asked, trying to keep his tone neutral.

Jack's gaze was piercing as he spoke, "During the mission, I noticed something... unusual. A wave of energy exploded just when I was about to reach the scene. I was wondering if you knew anything about it?" Commander Jack said, sitting on the small couch.

Dave's mind raced as he searched for a reasonable explanation. "I... I'm not sure what you mean, Commander," he stammered, feigning ignorance.

Jack's expression softened slightly, but his eyes held a hint of suspicion.

"Are you sure?" Commander Jack asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yeah...I was also caught unaware and my memory is fuzzy," Dave said, scratching his head while trying to hide his awkward tone.

"Okay if you say so but......." Commander Jack was suddenly interrupted by the blaring noise from the siren.

"Two Dungeons detected, mercenary 405 and 599 are incharge," The loud voice said.

"It is advisable for villagers to stay indoors," The loud mechanical voice said.
