Chapter 5: The Cause Of The World War

Hearing Ainsley’s question, the Elf King immediately answered. “The human race was too ambitious and they wanted to conquer the lands of all the races in this world and become build the largest human empire.”

“It just so happened that the human race’s border was adjacent to the demon race’s. Because of that, the human race attempted to invade the demon race first which started a war between the human race and the demon race.”

“The demon king was infuriated by the audacity of the human race so in retaliation, he kidnapped the human queen and impregnated her with his seed. Because of that, the human king was cuckolded and he waged a full-scale war against the demon race.”

When the Elf King reminisced about the past, he sighed with a gloomy expression on his face. “This wouldn’t have developed into a five-way war if it wasn’t for the dwarf race fishing for trouble by harassing the human race and demon race whenever those two races showed weakness.”

“As if that wasn’t enough, the human race’s powerhouses came to trouble the dragon race. They wanted the body parts of the dragons which was priceless when it came to creating artifacts such as using the tooth of a dragon to forge a sword and the scale of a dragon for armor.”

“Out of anger, the dragon race retaliated against the human race but the dwarf race and the demon race took advantage of it to take down the dragons that were sent by the dragon race.”

But when Ainsley heard the Elf King’s words, he became more confused. “Wait, why does this concern the elf race? From what you mentioned, the elf race wasn’t affected by the war.”

In response to Ainsley’s questioning, the Elf King sighed again. “It may seem like that, but remember that when there is war, food, and resources are needed. It just so happened that among the five major races, our elf race has the most fertile lands and cleanest water source so those three major races dared to trouble us!”

“Although the dragon race didn’t attack and invade us due to our ancestor’s relationship with the dragon race’s ancestor, the other three major races tacitly teamed up with each other to harass the elf race.”

“The elf race can easily defeat each of those major races aside from the dragon race but if they teamed up with each other, the elf race can only remain helpless. If not for their previous transgression with the dragon race, the dragon race wouldn’t have helped our elf race relieve the pressure during the war.”

“But because of that incident, the elf race suffered losses. At least 1/4 of the elf race’s land was split between the demon race and the human race. The dwarf race would often steal the natural resources of the elf race’s lands. The demon race and human race would kidnap the elves and make them their slaves.”

Whenever the Elf King explained it, his grip on his golden throne’s armrest tightened. “Our elf race clearly didn’t want to join in such muddy waters, yet they forced us to be involved in this war.”

“Due to a series of chain reactions, the war between the human race and demon race escalated to the point that all five major races are at war against each other.”

“Fortunately, the dragon race will often help to relieve the pressure on our side. Otherwise, we would have long been dominated by those three major races.”

“When the war between the five major races reached the limit, the human race didn’t want to lose and could only shamelessly call reinforcements by summoning heroes from another world.”

When the Elf King mentioned the word “heroes”, he smirked in disdain. “They might call them heroes, but they are nothing more than killing machines that were brainwashed and cultivated by the human king.”

“I pity that they were tricked and manipulated by the human king to do his bidding against their own will. I bet the human king had deceived them that they could return to their world by killing the kings of the rest of the major races.”

“Unfortunately, the human race is lucky enough to receive the blessings of the God of Light. And even our elf race who is the greatest in magic can only copy their hero summoning spell.”

After hearing the Elf King’s explanation, Ainsley already got the gist of how the war started. Although there was the possibility that the Elf King’s explanation was biased towards the elf race, Ainsley didn’t care much.

After all, he had already decided to support the elf race. Since he would receive a lot of benefits from the elf race, Ainsley wasn’t a white-eyed wolf who would bite the hand that fed him.

Faced with the explanation of the Elf King, Ainsley commented. “So you summoned me to deal with the heroes of the human race? If those heroes are possibly summoned by not only the pope of the human race but also the God of Light, what made you think that I could defeat such heaven-defying cheat existences?”

In response to Ainsley’s question, the Elf King shook his head and smiled. “You don’t have to belittle yourself, Ainsley Wagner.”

“I, Beluar Ruvyn Triandal Deux Liarieth, the 12th generation king of the elf race, have summoned you to Eternia for a reason.”

“When I summoned you, I focused on quality instead of quantity. To be honest, the requirements I have set when using the hero summoning magic were too high. The chances of failure are almost a hundred percent and the probability of success is in the decimals.”

“But against all odds, you have been summoned into this world and have proven that you are more than qualified to become my successor, to become the wife of my daughter.”

When the Elf King Beluar mentioned his daughter, the Elf Princess couldn’t help but blush. The Elf Princess’ was secretly taking glances at Ainsley with interest.

Ainsley naturally noticed that and knew that the Elf Princess was also interested in him as he was interested in her. He wasn’t even surprised that the Elf King Beluar knew about his name.

When Ainsley heard the high evaluation of the Elf King towards him, he couldn’t help but ask. “Compared to the other human heroes, how high is my potential?”
