Chapter 15 – The Grasping Thread

(Readers should please use their imagination for the postures which are going to be mentioned below since they will be easy to understand. Your imaginations is not limited and please grammar mistakes are not absent in this book)

“Whoa, this must be fancy.” Ghou jaggedly scrolled through the book until he eventually landed on the required page.

The book gave Ghou a stun as it revealed pictures of what the ability was going to be, when in effect.

“So, first step will be to…” Ghou interrupted his statement with a frown, seeing that meditation was the first step to cross through, followed by a variety of different postures which were drawn on the book, and finally the thirteen sub-headings which taught in detail on how to make the ability effective.

Ghou, being an impatient individual skipped the beginning process, going straight to the point of the book.

“Okay.”

Ghou who already stood on the ground glanced at the first step which was compulsory to the posture twelve, gaining the name of a ‘Wind umbrella’ as it required the individual spacing his left leg from the other, and bending his waist sideways, followed by the arms which were to be placed into a C shape mid-air.

“This is too difficult.” He slumped to the bed, exhausted from the exercise.

-------

Ghou woke up the next morning with a decision of learning the grasping thread ability, but this time, a little more different as he was going to perform the meditation as well as practicalizing it.

“Okay, first is my meditation.” Ghou sat unto the ground, instantly shutting his eyes to the would, trying to get full concentration with what he was doing.

An hour passed with Ghou still sitting on the ground, trying to continue his meditation which was replaced with a nap. Another hour immediately passed before he woke himself back into reality only to be left disappointed for his lazy behavior

“Just a meditation, done through concentration.” Ghou slapped himself into the world as he stood up from the ground with a yawn “I think I’ll just go over to the… Butterfly posture.”

Ghou laughed at himself, hearing the name of the first posture which seemed overly dramatic. Though it wasn’t hard or easy but it was considered a normal athlete’s routine.

After some minutes of finalizing the Butterfly posture, Ghou went for the second one which was regarded as the Finger swipe that involved the continuous swiping of the index finger with a common impact which was to get intense with every ticking seconds.

Finally, within two hours Ghou finished with the beginning routine with what seemed to be a fight with a mighty beast.

“Thank heavens.” Ghou took a deep breath, adapting to the first instruction which required the twelfth posture ‘Wind Umbrella’. Slowly Ghou advanced into the final move that involved spinning and swiping his index finger as illustrated in the posture five.

Just then, a tiny golden thread appeared on the tip of his finger, partially divulging its burning flame

“Hum, smaller edition of the fire vein.” He sat down on the bed, slowly examining the thread that shortly began to loose its fiery potency. Not long after, Ghou felt his energy flow out of his veins as he slowly went into the stage to mana exhaustion.

“Stop.” He tried to suspend the effects of the ability by closing his palms tightly, but all attempts seemed to had gone ineffective.

Overly exhausted, Ghou fell flat to the bed unable to keep his energy and mana hidden from the ability which continuously drained him with all it might. Finally Ghou passed out, closing his eye not until his energy were successfully reinstalled.

-------

Ghou ran into his well furnished parlor as he was done dressing up into a casual fitting instantly after his bath while holding the huge book with both of his palms

“Hahh, even though I didn’t master you, I got the basis.” Ghou smiled at himself, sitting on the new brown sofa, still staring at the texture of the book that looked entirely new, not even exposing a litter of Ghou’s blood.

With a smile, he opened the book the bookmarked page that explained about the Gasping Thread that never failed to call for his interest. Just then, he caught sight of the ability’s challenge which exceeded into the Petal King level that stood among the top five levels of tiers and their challenge levels

“I thought, I was a Couge leveled elemental.” Ghou’s eyes swollen with the thought of his finally upgrading from the second lowest level into a Petal-King leveled elemental.

The Tier levels of an individual’s ability was categorized into a total of nine that ranged from the Beginner, Couge, Advanced, King, King-Petal, Emperor, Primal, Mage, and finally the Ancient.

“Ohh, how much happier can I be.” Ghou tried to subdue his urge to scream in laughter and was left only carrying a wide smile on his face.

Even as he could properly perform the King-Petal ability, at least he was definitely in the King tier to be able to exhibit a King-Petal. Though he was scared of trying the Grasping Thread once again, but there were more skill that he could learn as he was no longer a Couge elemental that had a lot of restrictions. But now at least, a King leveled elemental.

“I can’t believe it, there a lot right in this book to choose from.” He began swiping effortlessly through the pages of the book in search of the perfect skill for the hunt which was behind the corner.

Finally, he stopped on a page that revealed a skill called the Fire Wall with a challenge of Advanced.

“Okay, first step is meditation.” Ghou immediately went into a temporary trance for exactly two hours before performing the postures that were required for it.

Eventually, it was time for him to perform the main routine which involved a whole lots of different techniques. Just then, he reminded himself of his flammable materials which situated around him

“Hum, it’ll be a bad idea doing that here.” Ghou protested, in accordance to the diagram on the book which clearly explained that he was going to become surrounded in a flame of fire once the effect of the ability took place.

He immediately stood up from the ground, placing his attention to the outside of the house which gave him a fright to his realization that it was already sunset

“Going to the training will be such a bad idea by this time.” Now all he could do was to sit on the sofa and wait until he felt sleepy, or rather force himself asleep.

Opening the book to the Fire Wall page, he began to mumble some words as he tried to memorize the instructions. After some seconds, he closed the book and ran to the door which he opened in a hurry, finally switching his location to the outside of the house. Xia had just arrived a day before as Pengfei made his way into the Featherstone Kingdom to fulfill his ambition of being in the military. Ghou now stared at Xia with concern as he tried in desperation to find another phrase that still meant ‘No’ instead of him just saying it straightforward “Emm… I’m not sure Xia, but don’t worry, you’ll find thirty silver coins in my room, just on the bed

Ghou frowned hearing the abusive words of Mia that sprayed no emotion into Alistar who still curled up himself until the talking lad eventually fell unto the ground unconscious. “Eh..
