Chapter 17 – Border Of Beasts And Monsters

The day of the forest hunt came with Ghou already dressed up in his uniform and the Fire-equipped gauntlet fixed neatly into his left palm. There was also a scabbard that was tied on his waist that tightly coated the silver-rapier.

With a sigh he walked out of the room, into the parlor where Xia sat responsibly on a sofa while reading a small book.

“I’ll be leaving now.” A words from Ghou startled Xia who jumped from the chair with a face filled with nervousness

“But… But why can’t I go with you.” She stammered, already expecting the worse reply. Xia had just arrived a day before as Pengfei made his way into the Featherstone Kingdom to fulfill his ambition of being in the military.

Ghou now stared at Xia with concern as he tried in desperation to find another phrase that still meant ‘No’ instead of him just saying it straightforward “Emm… I’m not sure Xia, but don’t worry, you’ll find thirty silver coins in my room, just on the bed. And it could last you for over a week.”

Xia gave a sigh, whether that of relive or frustration. Though she knew it was impossible to go with Ghou into his journey, but the fear of boredom did not exit her mind.

“…”

“Don’t worry, I’ll be back in the blink of an eye.” He waved at her as he stood opposite the door already in the stage of leaving. Finally after some seconds, Xia gave a sad nod and waved back, giving him the permission to leave the house.

Ghou strolled into the Throne room, relaxing his palm onto the handle of his sword. His mind was immediately stunned upon seeing Kiara and the other guards who stared at him angrily. Still staring quietly at the group that gave endless death glares, he walked up to a vacant seat

“We’ve been waiting for you, Ghou.” Cheng blundered still giving the death glares that sent a chill to Ghou.

“Ehn.” Ghou’s brow furrowed hearing the words of Cheng. How could he be late when it was still early sunrise

“Anyways.” Kiara interrupted the building argument between the two as she rose up from the throne seat, holding some objects that were covered with a purple veil.

The four guard especially Cheng, Ying and Silas looked stunned seeing the object being held by Kiara as they had no idea it was there even when she held it ever since. But maybe it was due to her purple ball-gown that camouflaged the object out of sight

“Now I bring to you, the Quinn sword.” She immediately unveiled the four long sword that revealed their sharp double-edge. As well as a glowing ball of light that floated in the golden handle, easily giving out that unusual aura that defined it as a Mage handled sword.

It did not take long and the crew already held their individual Quinn sword that pushed them into an imaginary world.

“Follow me, the empire is quickly loosing its worth and trade because of this.”

The crew arrived in front of the Palace, that was present of ten well armored guards that gathered. Upon them seeing the Empress, they bowed only rising when Kiara commanded them to do so

“So, they’ll take you into the forest, and then you are to lead them to find the creature. Remember you have seven days to do that, and when in danger, don’t hesitate to return to the empire.” Kiara whispered to the group who nodded as a reply

“I also made preparations for the feedings.” Kiara pointed at a cart full with foodstuffs that were being handled by some a group of dirty huge men.

“Thank you.” Silas muttered under his breath as his voice sounded inaudible. But still, he gained the attention of the crew who stared with a nice face.

The group of guards walking into the forest that was present of tall trees and bushes. It didn’t take long and they had already proceeded far into the forest that was dark as a result of the tall trees that obstructed the reflection of the sun.

“I’m already tired.” Ying whispered to Ghou who got lost in thought, thinking about Xia and her well being. “Hey, get your brain over here.”

She pushed Ghou on his shoulders, jerking him out of his thought as his gaze finally met the darkness of their path

“I hate the dark.” Ghou’s voiced sounded annoyed as he lit up a ball of fire in his palm that instantly gave out a beam of light.

“Put that off, immediately.” Cheng shouted at Ghou upon seeing a creature that sped across the trees. But Ghou who already boiled in rage, ignored his words.

“I said stop it.” Cheng retorted pushing Ghou’s arms that accidentally dropped the ball of flame into the ground

“Are you happy now.” Ghou stared blankly at Cheng who gazed furiously at the fire that vastly began spread through the bushes.

Instantly, a tall wolf-like creature jumped in front of the group that shrieked in fear of the size.

The creature was popular referred as the Baboon Wolf due to the large size and furry nature.

Without proper thinking, one of the guards rushed towards the creature, pointing his sharp metallic sword at the beast that pounced on him, brutally tearing up his limbs.

“Had always been a bold soldier.” One of the guards teased the dead man that had long lost his life to the claws of the beast. Without another word, he banged his legs into the ground releasing a force of energy that uprooted some part of the earth, swinging it powerfully to the beast that easily dodged it.

Finally, the others who had been lost in thought began to attack the creature that was finally taken down after some time, only rendering minor injuries.

“Ahh, phew.” Ying exclaimed as sweat dripped from all parts of her body. But just then she stared around the surrounding in search of Ghou who had suddenly disappeared from the area.

“Guys, where is Ghou.”
